The exact same thing could be said about Dark Sun in Season 2 and they never had the chance to use the Builder.
You could, except Dark Sun did not have a renown point award for using Character Builder.

I thought it was five points. That's a significant bonus.

There was no CB renown bonus for DS Encounters, since you were only using pregens (a restriction they dropped for the third chapter).

You get 5 points for creating an Essentials character, and 5 points for building a character using CB. And, yes, that's a significant bonus that was unavailable to start the season, and is still unavailable. Now, if you have a DM who's cool about it, he'll let you create a CB Essentials character (whenever that option is available) and let you transfer the renown points you've earned thus far to that character. But he doesn't have to allow that since (as I understand it) the renown points are supposed to be per character, and strictly speaking, you would be creating a new character. So he should start at zero renown points.

To the best of my knowledge, reknown points are per player, not per character.

You are correct. If I create 3 Essentials characters, for instance, I would still get no more than 5 points. However, I create an Essentials character for 5 points and then, when it becomes available, use the Character Builder to rewrite the character sheet, that would be another 5 points. Those points were in using the CB in making your character. That doesn't mean that, if you already made a character by hand, you are unable (as far as reknown points go) to use the Character Builder for gaining points. They are two entirely different categories.

Well, this is my first time playing Encounters, and going by what I read in this thread community.wizards.com/dungeonsanddragons... I got the impression that your character (not you the player) earned renown points. Also, on the D&D Downloads page it says, "Keep track of your character’s treasure and Renown Points by downloading this handy play tracker!". So, it seemed reasonable that the Renown points you earned playing one character wouldn't automatically transfer to the new character. That makes sense when you consider that all but two of the renown categories are things the character does, and you can't really say that the new character did those things.

Now for something like TokenMaker (I'm Rumble over at the RPTools forums, BTW) I can see why you have to simply wait on it, of course.
Blimey, didn't see that one coming! I'm errr, Blakey from over on the MapTool forums. But I guess you figured that!!
Funnily enough I think that TokenMaker is probably the only reason I still have a subscription - as it needs access to the compendium to work. The CB is great, and we use it exclusively to make our PCs. But all these delays are very annoying.
Cheers! Blakey

Why do you need the compendium to use the TokenMaker? I must be missing something because I've never used the Compendium with it.
