Who died? Feel free to describe him or her.
9. a mortal man
What caused his/her death? Feel free to describe it.
5. accident
How long ago was it? Since it's 2,010 by the Gregorian Calendar I wanted an 010 at the end.
4. 20,010
This favored mortal was died before he was destined to. The Dream is the way the universe has "adjusted" to the warp in Fate

Going with #2, #3, and #1 I like the whole idea of Morpheus causing the godly pantheons queen to die. Maybe Morpheus made the Queens husband jealous? I also kinda want the Queen to be the Zeus of her pantheon not the Hera.

Who died? Feel free to describe him or her.
10. a mortal woman
She was the last queen of the old kingdom. The calendar now ticks off the years of the new government (whether monarchy or republic).
What caused his/her death? Feel free to describe it.
3. murder (execution)
How long ago was it? Since it's 2,010 by the Gregorian Calendar I wanted an 010 at the end.
5. 35,010
The government since then uses the power of dreams to maintain its power.

I have returned after taking 2 days off due to a run and then an injury from the run. I feel slightly better today...the voting so far is interesting. It will definately be a murder. For now #2, #3, and #1 are in the lead. I love the comments, and I will try to incorporate as many of them as possible. Its taking this Dreamworld concept in whole new directions...

Here I will just think outloud and ponder a bit. Unless something changes drastically, we know a murder causes the start of the calendar, and it is a world wide calendar. We know that this is a world heavily influenced by dreams, and there are no gods, but forces that resemble gods. Of course, that doesn't mean that there weren't gods & goddesses here before.
Depending on the votes, someone very important to the Gods and/or the People was murdered, and it changed everything. It as so important that people refer back to it and say, "5,010/15,010/20,010 years ago he/she was taken from us and..." or they may say, "It has been 5,010/15,010/20,010 since the death of ???" It's very interesting to create the world this way, and to get the feedback. Interesting...

I collected together the results of the earlier rounds so that I don't have to keep going back through the thread:
Round 1
It is a world where dreams really do come true. Dreams, Fantasies, and Nightmares roam the lands and take physical form. The souls of Men go to the Realm of Dreams when they sleep, and sometimes their souls don't come back.
Round 2: WHAT ABOUT THE GODS?
none (but maybe a force exists that resembles a god)
Round 3
What is the current year? - 5000 or more... What event caused the start of the calendar? - a death
---------
With the calendar being a world wide calendar, it got me thinking about how big the world is. Are we talking one planet? An infinite flat earth with tortoises all the way down? Multiple planes? One physical world and one dream world? This might be a good question for the next round.

I'm going to go with 2, though it doesn't matter to me whether its a god/goddess.
Going with 3, but hesitate to call it murder. Still toying with the idea of the god/dess being killed by a group of heroes.
Will go with 1, for 5010 years after the death. Is this question for real or dream time? My answer is for the dream time if they are separate quantities.
Crazier thoughts: As a separation of real/dream time, if the question is for dream time then I wonder about say, 5000 years of relative history, with the last ten years having increasingly "bad things" happen due to the god/dess giving the final gasps.
Irony: The "heroes" who killed the god/dess have been floating around in various bodies for all this time, seeing what the results of their action have been.
Also, having flashbacks of The Neverending Story play through my mind right now. (Just the first one).
End of the World Scenarios: 1. The "real time" world goes on as if nothing in the dream world happened and the dream world is destroyed. 2. The "dream world" becomes the new "real world" and the real world dies. 3. Some strange merging of the worlds.
Enjoy

The voting is getting closer to it's final verdict. #2 (A Goddess) #3 (A Murder) and #1 (year 5,010) are in the lead. Thank you Angorath for doing that, and you bring up a great question for Round V. What is the physical makeup of this world? How many moons, suns, other worlds in the solar system? Yes, that needs to be addressed. Lord Magius, those are crazy ideas, and good ones. As this takes form, I may leave who actually did the murder a mystery. Since we are dealing with dreams, another thought is the person or persons who are blamed for the murder may not have actually done it. The difference between real time and dream time needs to be addressed, because the deeper you go into a Dream (Inception) the way you feel time changes. A day down there may only be an hour up here. Love this, keep voting...

2. a goddess
2. natural causes Maybe the party is suposed to eventually find out that the goddess killed by her own nightmare (thought of as natural causes) was actually murdered by another creature (another god?maybe something demony...?) the murderer being the creature starting the whole dreamdrama. I wouldn't like to play in the inceptionlike time lagging world because if only half the party is in this dreamworld the other half would have to wait a lot and that makes the sessions drag... 3. murder
