Oh? Show me where else they promise you monthly updates that include all new releases and material that you personally want to see. Gee, shucks, you can't find that line? Yeah, it doesn't exist.

Here is something to ponder.  You can read the entire thing here but I will take the relevant part.  Emphasis is mine to make a point.

Q: Can I use the D&D Character Builder offline?
A: Yes! You need a connection to download it initially. Subscribers get the initial download and can decide whether they want the monthly updates. Aside from that, you don't need to be online to use the Character Builder.

WotC is telling me that I have a choice on downloading the MONTHLY UPDATES.  Not a monthly update if there is one, it says the monthly updates.  So where is the September update that I want to download????  And guess what; those monthly updates are the ones I personally want to see.

edited:  I removed some things so I am not the cause of another thread closure.....

The FAQ is not what you bought, (and it's already been made irrelevant, in a previous comment). Again, you weren't promised anything. You were never promised all the newest material every month. You get 5 downloads every month as well. Are we to assume that you're supposed to get 5 updates? You're taking something that's meant to sell a total package, and making it the Ten Commandments of DDI. That's not how this works.

I got all the stuff on this here fancy calendar. www.wizards.com/dnd/calendar.aspx?Month=...

That is because they changed it, two times actually.  So I can hand you a menu, you order, then I give you a bill that is twice what you recall it to be.  I then bring you a new menu and say "You got all the stuff on this here fancy menu at that price".

Great little campaign modules that we've actually enjoyed, such as the  Ghost Tower. The staff fighter build, which someone is actually playing,  (despite our objections). Items, such as the Dreamheart stuff, that we  plan on having once we get to that stage in the campaign. Tons of  artwork that our DM often prints out and uses in handouts during  gameplay. And the ever awesome Bazaar of the Bizarre.

Conversely, just cause you and the gang think it is the best thing since sliced bread does not make it worth much to someone else.  There are a number of people that put more weight on the CB and tools then the articles and what not.  So those that like the articles can wave their pom poms and those that want the monthly updates can voice their discontent when they fail to appear.

The menu analogy doesn't work. For starters, you don't get to select what "menu items" you want. Nor did you pay twice. The calendar shows what you might expect in the month. Nothing more. Like I've said countless times, the CB is not the only product in DDI. If you chose to purchase DDI solely because of it, that's fine, but you have to understand that you are not paying for the CB alone, and the updates for it. The majority of DDI customers understand that we bought a package, and will wait patiently for the CB, knowing that there is more to it than just one program. The CB will be updated "soon." So just be patient.

There's more to life than D&D. Go hiking or something. It's great weather around here, so with that, I think I'll hit the lake a bit later for some afternoon fishing.

First, just because you say it is irrelevant does not make it so.  It is part of their advertising, albeit false, because they are not updating monthly.  As shown by this and other forum threads.  So while I did not buy the particular FAQ, it is part of the whole package everyone throws around as "value" for our subscription.

Not sure what "monthly updates" means to you but to me that implies there are MONTHLY updates.

You bet, if I have it installed on 5 PCs by gosh I expect to get 5 updates on a MONTHLY basis.

Just to be clear, you are saying they have falsely advertised what we can expect in regards to the CB?  I think we are getting closer to understanding one another already.

Your Dungeons & Dragons Insider subscription has recently ended. This could be because your billing information failed to process successfully as an Auto-Renew or because your Manual Renew subscription lapsed. Either way, we wanted to invite you back.

Don't bother arguing with him zombie, He is a WotC kiss up and can't see the facts in front of his eyes.

He, like the others, asked us to prove that they said monthly updates, so we did. They asked us to prove that the monster builder was still in beta, so we did. But apparently WotC's own words, advertising, and FAQ's (FAQ= Frequently Asked Question = "HEY, IMPORTANT INFORMATION") are not good enuf for them. So ignore them.

So let's recap.

Promised Monthly updates via the FAQ
Monster builder still in beta after a year with only limited functionality.
Dungeon and Dragon page count in rapid decline over the past year.
Dungeon and Dragon article quality in rapid decline over the past year.
Zero information on ANYTHING for over a year, despite being told there would be information "soon" (over two months ago)

I have to admit, it is a bit hard for me to figure out, for what constructive reason you are posting this often in a thread of this content.
You made it more than clear, that you dont care much about the fact, that there was no update for the CB/MB/Compendium in the last month, nor do you mind not having a fix date for an update in october.
While taking it for granted, that other people accept your oppinion, you dislike it when someone else states to be upset about not having a product available the way he expected it to be.
To throw oil on the fire doesnt help keeping the emotions low on this discussion, so why dont you just go fishing and leave the topic to those that care about not having a product they expected to have and therefor want to talk about it?
If you dont want to, please stop playing the voice of reason. Sentences like "Like I've said countless times,..." are rather anoying to read if the person using them made about seven posts to the topic.

D&D Outsider since Nov 18th 2010, if you wonder about the little red dragon, this one is dedicated to the great VT community.

Let's use the Disneyland analogy again, shall we? Just because  billboards and signs all over tell us about Space Mountain, and how  awesome it is, and how Disneyland is open 365 days a year, and how you  can ride Space Mountain any time with the price of admission, it does  not prevent Space Mountain from breaking down from time to time. You  don't get a refund if all you went to ride was Space Mountain, because  the ticket includes more than just that. Like I've said, the FAQ doesn't  promise anything. It simply answers questions people often  ask. It is not a contractual agreement. This is the fundamental point  everyone is missing. Sorry you didn't get the CB updated last month.  It's not the end of the world.

Emphasis mine.

-You provided copy/paste info from a FAQ. A FAQ that doesn't guarantee anything, nor does it mean jack-diddly-squat when it comes down to brass tacks.
-Who asked about Monster Builder beta? It says "beta" right on the screen, why would anyone argue that?
-You weren't promised anything, which seems to be the keystone of this entire argument, and the divide between us.
-Zero information on anything? Seems tangent, but I'm curious. I've personally received tons of information. What are you referencing, exactly?

The OP asked what he's paying for, and I'm answering him. You don't have to like the answer, but that's the answer. He paid for DDI.

[EDIT] The sun is getting low, and it's time to fish. You guys have fun with this. I won't interrupt the pity-party any longer. Sayonara! Smile

I'm very happy that you are happy with your DDi subscription.  I wonder, at what point would you not be happy with your DDi subscription?
