They generally start the update process around noon EST/9am PST and it takes a couple of hours for the process to be completed. Assuming everything goes to completion, I would start checking around 2:30ish EST.

Update started at roughly 9:00AM PST, according to PaoloM in some other thread in the DDI General forum.

Danke, gang!
Already downloaded, played around with, and bug reported!
Those who keep quoting the EULA at our complaints should live in shame for their reprehensible behavior, as should WotC. Nicolae Ceauşescu never committed acts as reprehensible as the last few weeks here.

So what are the "web tools" that were being developed? Is it the compendium make-over? I think that might disappoint a few people more than there not being an update.

I strongly doubt they'd even think to make that claim - not even the most generous of us is gonna buy a compendium reskin as a "new web tool," I think.

If you read the edited CB news sticky you will see that they are making something called "The Studio" which is why it was delayed.

While the update makes me happy there are some oddities about it. Changed that were added in Essentials to feats and races, only some of them though. Some of the magic items are listed as they were in the original article post not the final volume version. Things like that.

I was (and still am I guess) under the impression that since WOTC_TRevor said "at the Studio" instead of something like "on the Studio," he referred to the Studio as a location and not one of the projects.

From yhe context I saw, "The Studio" is just a shorthand way to refer to PaoloM and his fellow programmers.

This is pure speculation (as with everything, since nobody tells us nothin'), but I suspect this update was not actually part of The Plan. Given that it was partial, not inclusive of the things that were issued that month, etc.,  I think there may have been a "what can we get out right now" discussion after the mid-month fiasco, and they pushed out a few things that could still work with the smallest effort in the existing tools.

Supposing this hypothetical was true, they were just trying to give their pissed-off customers something to buy themselves some more time.  I have no problem with that, actually (it probably would have been my first thought too). I think it might not have been necessary had they tried to explain, but...
