I'm unfamiliar with the Essentials product, and I have one question which I guess is just, what am I getting here? The Rules Compendium page says that it covers the core rules, so does that mean that it's the most up-to-date version of all the Combat and Skill rules you find in the PHB1? Does it also cover any fixes (errata?) that involve specific powers (ie new Magic Missle?) or classes (heard there are Miss effects on Wizard Encounter powers now), and are they just for PHB1 classes or does it cover material across most of the old non-essentials books like PHB2 and Player Guides for FR/Eberron?

The RC doesn't have classes, races, feats, magic items, etc. It contains all of the actual rules from the PHB and DMG in one book, updated to the most recent version of the errata document, and presented in a manner that makes it clearer and easier to use than before. Any powers and such that have received errata in the past will stay in the errata document unless they are reprinted in a product (such as Heroes of the Fallen Lands, which will have miss effects on any wizard encounter powers that are reprinted).

also will a rare weapon given out in heroic tier be a +1 or +2, why, and will it change over the tier or are inherent bonuses supposed to keep the attack mod up?

Will the full new magic items rules be released as errata?
Will there be fix errata to artificer and Cannith Mastermaker PP?
How many pages of rules errata will there be to the DMG and PHB (when you consider the feats system, changes to level progression, details of the build system (including how multiclassing works for it), changes to the magic items system)?
Will it actually be a practical amount of errata to use at the table or is the rules comp. effectively "essential"? (Sorry for the loaded question, but it is a genuine concern that there will be so much errata for these two books (even excluding "game elements" (powers, traps, magic items etc.) and just looking at rules, that every rule look-up will be "check the book - and the errata too" , when you want to see how something works? i.e. will the errata in rules be approaching the length of the rules comp?
Will all current magic items recive a rarity in errata, or will they be presumed to be uncommon (or something else)?

I am almost 100% positive that there will be no hybrid rules for the new classes/class builds in the initial books.
But will there be rules for hybrid essentials classes either in a future book or in dragon magazine?

What are the dice like? Color and quailty?
I finally bothered to look on Amazon and they have it for $13.50 so if it includes a decent set of dice I might buy it mainly for all the non-book stuff since a good set of dice usually costs somewhere from $5-8.

Woa!...essentials raise a lot of questions. And so little answers....Here is mine. The preview showed progression up to level 10. Does the classes go up to full 30 with all powers set (except from utility power you can choose (that is my understanding)). So you can choose feats and utility powers only ?
Quick Edit : Ok my bad, after re-reading the mage preview, obviously you can still choose you enconter and daily powers. But in the mage case it has to be from a specific school. problem PHB and other powers are only arcane with no school defined...more questions, frag!

if essentials is optional why would you choose to force it down our throats for encounters? im sure you realize the dms already know how old builds work, so i cant accept it will make it any easier. i want you to know im not playing encounters or telling any friends about it bc im not allowed to play a 4e character in a 4e game. please next time allow existing players that want to play 4e classes to enjoy the game, thanks.
