If you drop Str by 1 and add it to to Dex, you qualify for Scale Spec at Epic and have a slightly better Ref for Paragon.
Really conflicted on the Hybrid Talent and ED for this build. I'm seriously considering killing off my Warden in one of my home games so I can actually play it.
I haven't heard of anyone not having fun playing it. You get to combine the short-range punishment of the Fighter, the zone punishment of a Battlemind, and the control of a huge slide+slow. Plus you've got lots of other options, both in combat and out.
The essentials version has done just what you suggested. I'm not sure Scale Spec is a great choice for Epic as there are a lot of feats I'd like to take at that point dependent on DM.

It reallys comes down to Speed of Thought + Quick Reaction or Persistent Harrier + Harrying Step.
The problem is, WotC technically hasn't put out Hybrid rules for Harrying Step. Any DM should let you take it for the Hybrid Talent, but in a game like LFR it isn't legal.

I played a variant up through some epic and it was amazing (mostly feat changes to suit the DM's style such as Ubiq Shield). Really worked well as a single defender. I would like to run it again some time as a secondary defender to abuse LR more.

Actually, here is where it is funny. If you read the rules for Hybrid Talent: Psionic Study, the actual rules text says "This functions exactly like the Battlemind's Psionic Study class feature". Its there in PHB3, and has received no rules errata, so its valid to take Harrying Step. The compendium is a secondary rules source and does not take precedence for LFR.

Can anyone back this up? If so, I will definately take this...but it seems RAI that PHB3 was pointing to the other two Psionic Study features...

RAW, he's correct. CharOp doesn't deal in RAI (and neither do the actual rules, but hey).
Compendium has a lot of stupid errors like that like, actually. Cunning Sneak and Cunning Sneak (Hybrid) are different, because Cunning Sneak was errata'd. Guess what the PHB3 says about Hybrid? "Exactly the same as the Rogue class feature." Errata applies to both.

Made a 30th level update...listed in the 1st post with access to the dnd4e file as well.
Looks very solid, let me know if you spot anything weird or wrong. Treasure values are roughly on par with Mr. Smith.

After pondering the level 30 version for a bit, I prefer Ubiquitous Shield over Winged Weapon, but I do like the backup use of a Melee attack at range 1/enc I like Intellect Snap at level 13 instead of Brutal Barrage. At-will daze is going to do more for you than BB, since you haven't invested much in it IMO I also recognize Dwarven Armor is much cheaper than Bloodiron, but if you can shift some gold around Bloodiron makes your AC VERY hard to hit when coupled with the bonuses from Brash Strike

Not sure what you meant by the first? One's a feat, the other a utility power?
I'm not really all that fond of any of the level 13(or for that matter 17) Battlemind powers for specifically this build. Really just for the power points to fuel Lightning Rush. Brash Strike is awesome, so is Eldritch Strike. I like the corner case elements of Brutal Barrage(i.e. prone, actual decent damage in an emergency - 12 points per shot, 4 shots at 14th) a little better than those of Intellect Snap.
I'm generally not worried about being hit by my Brash Strike target - I'd rather have the 'wait, I'm not actually unconscious' capability of Dwarven Armor.
