Perhaps we should band together and stay out of the soap opera?
Flag AnubisDread August 7, 2010 4:31 PM PDT

Nooo, you must fall in love with each other or something and add to the drama!

One of us! One of us! One of us! One of us! One of us!

...okay I am in a really odd mood today.

Flag Thought August 8, 2010 7:49 AM PDT
A question for Veok, or any admin I suppose: The Feymire Shackles can presumably only be used on one exarch at a time, correct? How does that work with multi-exarchs like the Lynn or Xeadin's guardians? If one of them gets chained are they all made mortal and mute?

Or from a different perspective, what about multi-exarchs that are combat type? Do only one of them have to be involved in a battle to grant the benefit, or do they all have to be there? Or if the exarch looses, can all of them be imprissoned, even if not all of them participated?
Flag Veok August 8, 2010 9:32 AM PDT
With Multi-exarchs, the thinking has always been "you need all of the 'parts' to be together to use the bonus PP".

So while only one of them may be shackled, it effectively prevents the others from doing anything (unless the others are standing around their imprisoned brethren).

combat multi-exarchs are the same way -- if not all of the 'parts' participate, they can't grant their combat bonus. In this case, again, even imprisoning only those who were part of the fight has the same mechanical ramifications (not being able to spend PP) as if they had all been imprisoned.

And remember, if your god knows that their exarch is imprisoned, all they have to do is *poof* over and undo the shackles themselves -- it's only a minor artifact after all. The trick is to capture an opposing exarch in such a way that their absence is not noticed.

Hey Thought, Xeadin is playing with your water again.  Are you just going to let him get away with it?
Flag Topheh August 8, 2010 8:01 PM PDT
Making a water dragon, in fact!  Smite him good!

Actually, V... I take a bit of issue with your subversion of the Bahenet in that way.  Nobody and I mean nobody, not even them knows what happens to their souls, and as you haven't actually visited the Altar, I can't see how you would know either.  So go edit in visiting  the altar or something, otherwise I shall call you a godmoder!

*Looks around and notices the conspicous lack of authority before suddenly realizing this is a perfect time for a coup!!!*

Actually, Joran, three things:
1) Yes I believe you do still have another 3pp, I dont think you spent any last turn which means that 3 carried over into this week.
2) Your expenditures I believe are a little off.  The dragonborn would already have some familiarity with Alchemy, so you need only spend 1pp as a specilization.  Counterbalancing that though, creating an organization like the dragoons is 2pp.
3) I am going to roll with it for now but realize you are not automatically everywhere Shi'vya is.  Veok's attack was against a small Soulshard outpost, and it seemed rather obvious that malice was not targetting a settlement with two gods already standing in the middle of it.
Flag Thought August 13, 2010 12:18 PM PDT
Aye. Last you were seen you were within Despair's fog, in a place between worlds. But even at that, posting more often would help you not be forgotten.

To note, contrary to what it might seem, I'm still without internet, more or less. I'm trying to keep up on my phone, but texting a post would be insane.

That would clear up some of the confusion that I have, except for one small problem-- there's only one Soulshard nation currently on the Triskelion Continent.

All other elemental nations are not a part of the Soulshard nation. Whatever veok thought existed didn't exist.

[edit] ...unless veok was thinking about the small group that followed the drahken through the forest. But that's not an outpost-- they were still a part of the same nation. They were not establishing any outpost where they were.

Flag joran1313 August 14, 2010 1:00 PM PDT
Thanks for the update on the PP expenditures, but on the note of where I am, I was still with Schi'vya at the time inspite of us being where ever we might have been.  So when she would have left the 'fog' I would have as well.

Now on the note of posting more often, well I would, but being evicted last weekend has put a large damper on my internet access. I am staying with my brother, but he doesn't have internet (yet). So my posting will be slow for a while.

Even still, if there happens to be a post previous that two people are together and someone else shows up and only addresses one with out even acnowledging the other would imply rudeness, or that that person only has a message for one of the two. SO, in the thing of harkon/armal, he only wanted/needed to talk to schi'vya no need to address me (even though it still seems off, but understandable). In the thing of the golden one, not addressing both would be seen as rude due to just showing up for sociable conventions.

So, while I may or may not be able to post often unless schi'vya goes somewhere else and we depart company (which can/might happen eventually) I am still near her, and I do believe a giant dragon would be hard to miss.

The act of making a group a nation indicates population growth and expansion. By spending the PP to develop the nation, it is assumed that small bands of elementals, virago, and whatever else component creatures settle down into small cities, thorps, hamlets, and villages. That is by definition. So while there may be only a single large city / population center within the nation, it can't be assumed that there is nowhere else where a group of virago, elementals, and what have you, who associate themselves with the Soulshard nation, have settled down.

Unless it is clearly established that a particular group is strictly a city-state, some outward sprawl is implicit.

In other news, I will be less without internet than I thought I would be.

Joran correct me if I am wrong but Astriluxus was not ascended until after the world-warp, and therefore the "yes, yes, and yes" is factually untrue....

Ah, I see I am being... guided.  I shall play along!
Flag joran1313 August 20, 2010 8:52 AM PDT
While yes astriluxus was not ascended till after the worldwarp, does not mean he doesn't remember a time and place(or times and places for that matter) before coming to this plane. We all come from somewhere, and where that somewhere is could be anywhere! So, in a sense it is true, yet at the same time not. It all depends on how you look at it. Remember we are not alone! :P
Flag Aradeia August 20, 2010 9:42 AM PDT

But for all intents and purposes, each god has only existed since their first post in the IC. After all, one of the main rules of LoC is: If it didn't happen in the IC, it didn't happen.

So yes, you could *say* that you did stuff before, and people could choose to go along with it, but everyone is perfectly within their rights to think you're a raving lunatic.

*looks at Aaviz*

Anywho, while you could allude to things you believe may or may not have happened to you before you entered the world, you certainly cannot have any knowledge of anything that happened in the world when you weren't present, either through not being ascended yet or from not being physically present. The obvious exception being if someone specifically told you about it.

I apologize for not getting to this earlier, but here are some concerns/adjustments to the last two weeks' of posts.

Joran, post #1437.  Either thats a 2 PP teach of super-alchemy or a 1 PP specialization (nourish)... which is it?

Xeadin, post #1445.  As Paladins are a standard class, they're not really right for a teach.  Perhaps an organization or a specialization instead?

Thought, post #1455.  This is a THIN shell of water, yes?

Xeadin, post #1463.  Same as before... you don't need to 'teach' people to be rangers.

There are two Eladrin nations - The Warped Court and the Wygrove Confederacy. I assume you meant the former, but better to be specific.
Flag Thought August 29, 2010 10:42 AM PDT
Ah, sorry, I thought the Warped Court was an organization inside the Wygrove Confederacy. Whichever group of Eladrins are trading seelite with the Bahenet, that one.
Flag Veok August 29, 2010 6:38 PM PDT
Ah, well that leads to another conundrum -- Seelite was never being traded. It was introduced personally by an exarch. Neither The Warped Court, The Wygrove Confederacy, or the Soulshard Nation know anything about the metal, truly.
Flag Topheh August 29, 2010 8:03 PM PDT
But the Bahenet, at one point, thought the Warped Court did.
Flag Aradeia August 29, 2010 8:26 PM PDT
Wait, so then where did they get it from? Did the exarchs give it all to them in one huge sale, or are they continuously giving them more?
Flag Topheh August 29, 2010 9:07 PM PDT
I assumed the latter, especially given how much junk V and I have made with the stuff.  Its why the roads led back to the Eladrin.
Flag Thought August 29, 2010 9:56 PM PDT
Ah; I had taken the Bahenet assumptions that the Warped Court provided the metal as truth rather than speculation. I'll alter my post accordingly. But to give a brief summary, the nourish apparently went to the warped court.

It's things like that that want to make you create senseless jokes that makes no sense, but I guess that's the glory of brainstorming the inevitable.

And Xeadin -- Remember my clause about the Feymire Shackles -- they make the prisoner mute. The Reaper's screams can only be heard inside her own head. All passerby's would hear is a petrified tree that echoes eerily when they walk past: *clearly*, it is haunted.

Flag Topheh September 3, 2010 9:06 PM PDT
Wizdude, two things.

1)  Those sections of your post that you declared 'secret'... aren't really (well, the second one *could* be if you really wanted it to, I guess).  They're certainly under the cover of night, but 'secret' actions are more reserved for 'things nobody else should even notice is happening' and killing and destroying and buring... aren't exactly unnoticeable (without PP being spent, that is)

2)  Gonna need a bit more of an explanation of how you got those elves, there... they're rather far away from Nihiliath and as far as I can tell, the Illithids had no prior knowledge of them, so its a bit... RP-bad to just suddenly be capturing them without any IC text to support finding them in the first place!

Also, PbC is starting tomorrow.  Check the LoC forum for more details.
Flag Veok September 4, 2010 6:16 PM PDT

P.S. I am sad that you are keeling the warped court's mindflayers. After all, they aren't even aware of the existence of the Drakken, other than as the group who made trade possible between them.

To note, looking over things I think 1PP wasn't actually enough to get the entire slave army to abandon Nihilian, especially since that would shut down the war that Wizdude just started. Unless an admin objects, I'd say there is still a Nihilian army around, then.

God Name: Hirudi

Greater Domain: -

Moderate Domains (up to 2): Madness, Abberations, Dragons

Minor Domains (up to 4): Hydras, Hunger, Lust

Appearance: At first glance, the goddess Hirudi seems to nohing more then a giant coiled mass of slimy, hungry gargantuan eels, each ending in a dragonlike maw. Deep within this crawling mass, her true form is hidden, which is that of a long dark serpentine creature.
She has a feminine torso with four slender arms ending in six fingered hands. From the waist down she has a wormlike body that continues to divide in the thousand coils that make up the rest of her body.
Her face looks like a cross between a beautifull elven maiden and that of a hagfish. Although blind, the thousand dragonlike eels provide her with all the awareness she needs.

Holy Symbol: A mass of eels

Greater Domain: --
Moderate Domains (up to 2):
Moon, Pestilence, Animals
Lesser Domains (up to 4):
Fear, Sleep, Pleasure, Runes
Physical Appearance: A massive swarm of assorted insects with the capacity to coalesce into seven distinct figures.
Symbol: A single flame with several moths flying towards it.
Personality/Core Concept:  Intentionally a mixed bag, The seven are harbingers, though of what one can never be sure. At least one of their seven bodies possessed of one mind often appear before, during, and after calamity strikes and render the will of some unknown power to those present.

PS: I realize my domains have a heavy lean. It's not that I intend to act like a douche and break everyones toys, it's that these are all domens I felt could be used to create telling omens of both good and bad.

As a note, I'd like to appologize to everyone for being so inactive. I started my doctoral program recently and it is trying to kill me. As I have been lucky to get to sleep at a decent hour, free time itself has evaporated. But I am struggling to get some back, so hopefully I will not be silent for ever.
Flag Topheh October 10, 2010 2:49 PM PDT
Okay, well... I think the time has come to say this:

I think its time we start wrapping this LoC up.  Posting is nearly non-existent at this point, and rather than have it die off completely, I'd love it if we could wrap this up in some way, or at least post and get out affairs in order.  Perhaps... two weeks and then we'll call it done?

Oh, speaking of that... Pashalik, just take 6 PP each week.

And of course, with the close of LoC:WW, we start looking ahead to, well... whatever comes next.  Instead of launching into mechanics debates right away... lets take a step back and instead talk about LoC as a whole... the Lords of Creation games have been going on now for... what... two or three years now?   Lets talk about what our favorite memories are, what we feel LoC should be at its core and what, if anything, you've always wanted to try and do in-game.

Thanks for your time
Flag Sinasilver October 11, 2010 10:56 AM PDT
Since it's gotta wrap up, and I never even contributed to the world, I would suggest any records of this game simply leave The Seven out. He'd not even learned enough language to always form coherent sentences yet(I was only using words he'd heard other people say, if you didn't notice). It would be better to just have never existed than leave some material sink with no value, and not even enough of a jump-off for DMs.
Flag joran1313 October 11, 2010 9:11 PM PDT

Not tonight, but next week will be the last reset of WorldWarp.  We'll be doing the usual 2x PP at that point, so... you have been warned!

That said, please start wrapping things up, and check on the group forums for a discussion of how to end it all.

Hey Xeadin -- how 'bout instead of making another exarch (that looks exactly like yourself) you make an avatar instead -- isn't that sort of what you're going for anyway?

Damn... I've been out for quite a long time...

Well, to answer your question veok-- no. I had purposefully made it an exarch so that it could spring Harkon's trap. Of course now since the game's ending, it's probably a little late for that...

Its rough, but I've finished updating the game history to be current.  Not exactly expecting it to promt a sudden influx of interest, but re-reading the thread... we did some really cool stuff this time around.  Go us!

Whoa... Superior Spawn drop!

Good thing I'm not going to be a stickler and declare that by your definition, the beast will defend the triskelion from anyone, including those people that already live there

Anyways... time's running out to post, folks.  Get posts in if you want to get htem in.

On sunday, we'll start to talk about what we're gonna do next.
Flag Nerdzul November 5, 2010 4:00 AM PDT
oki I'll look forward to sunday (yes I'm still lurking around), btw toph if you want a few points take all of mine :p
Flag Topheh November 5, 2010 8:52 AM PDT

"Good thing I'm not going to be a stickler and declare that by your definition, the beast will defend the triskelion from anyone, including those people that already live there"

He specified "Guard: against superior spawns" so it's a non-issue.
Flag joran1313 November 5, 2010 10:34 AM PDT
Sure! I'll take half of those, this way I wont drop all of my points on one spawn. I'll divide them between the two before we die gloriously!

So, Toph just let me know and Astriluxus will start the final assault as I already have everything done on my side.

Also, The silverish weapons that the dragonborn handed to the eladrin were forged dragonmetal weapons. I figured Umbarts orcs would have eventually learned and figured out how to forge them, and Astriluxus and Pollux would have brought some down.
Flag Topheh November 5, 2010 11:37 AM PDT
Ah, dragonmetal.  My bad.

Well, how about this.  I'm going to post right now and forge you a brand new Seelite Weapon to use against the beastie.

And... sure.  8 more PP for Joran!

Flag Topheh November 5, 2010 11:38 AM PDT
Oh, and I vote we turn the Leviathan into an actual mountain range after its death.  Seems fitting... not to mention a VERY spooky place to adventure!
Flag Camu November 5, 2010 12:37 PM PDT
Hi

Sorry for the lack of posting, but work kept me busy.

Well I see you plan to finish the last bits, so not sure if it's worth my god does anything, although I might still let her do something.
Flag joran1313 November 5, 2010 10:14 PM PDT
I agree on the mountain range!

As for the seelite weapon, since I can't actually use weapons in dragon form (which is what I normally am, plus I'm a bit stronger as a dragon as opposed to dragonborn,) You'll have to use it. Its the reason why I gave my now exarch a very powerful weapon that a god would normally use.(The sword of light is a very powerful holy sword made up of pure light energy capable of slicing through anything including the deepest darkness and the leviathan's hide.) Thanks though!

and Camu, join on in! The more the merrier! :P

and as the saying goes: It Is a good day to die!
Flag Topheh November 6, 2010 9:22 PM PDT
Well, thats that.  Thank you all for playing!  Keep an eye out here and especially on the group forums for when we'll be starting up a new round.
