I want to revive this thread, lets see if people get on the wagon. Rules are simple:
1. All questions must come from a sourcebook, official (non-subscription) TSR/WotC web release, or Dragon/Dungeon magazine. Lore originating solely from computer games (including their manuals), comic books, mailing lists, forums (including this one), apocryphal sources such as the Double Diamond Triangle Saga, or any other unofficial TSR/WotC source are disallowed. It's only fair if we use non-obscure material that everyone has a reasonable chance of easily obtaining.
2. If no one has correctly answered a question within 24 hours of its posting, the posting member needs to provide a hint, and the hint must be informative enough to give others a chance to find the information. For example (drawing from the previous Trivia Challenge), if the question was "Who was Alisker Lathundown of Nuel?", saying "He's dead!" is not a sufficient hint. Saying "Alisker was one of seven, and the seven aren't as well known as the lady mage they served. He's definitely dead, but may or may not be still around." is enough information to aim people in the right direction. (He's one of the skulls that served Tashara of the Seven Skulls; he's named in the "Elminster's Notebook" article of the same name in Dragon 206.)
3. It's recommended, but not necessary, that when the correct answer is given, a reference be provided. That way, others can read up on it, if they wish.
4. The member who correctly answers a question is then allowed to post a question of their own. It's a good idea to have a question ready, instead of saying "I'll come back with one in several hours" (I myself am guilty of the latter! ).
5. At this time, questions which cover the entirety of 1e, 2e, 3e and 4e are allowed as part of this Trivia Challenge. However, 4e questions based solely on information from the DDI are discouraged, since a large number of members have not subscribed to that service, and the information is thus not available for them.
6. Remember, the purpose of this is simply to have some fun and share lore. There's no need to lord superior knowledge over each other; we're all here because we love DnD.
Lets roll:
When this very populare setting started, five (5) regions (or place if you prefere) were supposed to stay untouched by designers in future products.
Name that setting and one of those regions. Extra credit if you name the five.
Good luck!

Eberron, most likely. I'm guessing that you refer to the Mournland, Xen'drik, Sarlona, Argonessen, and... Xoriat? Although, really, only the first two were promised to be hands-off as such. One of the great disappointments I have about Eberron 3.5 is that we never got any planar adventures in the Eberron cosmology.

No wrong answer. 5 regions were promised to be hands off in that setting, but eventually they didn't respect that promise.
So what is that setting and name at least one of those regions.

Greyhawk, Aka- Living Greyhawk for the realms where players had the freedom rather than the devs presenting the information?
Could this be what you refer to?
Regions: Sheldomar Valley, Dyvers, Luz's Border States, Urnst, Aerdy... I think

No again. This goes back to a very important year for TSR. 1987. A certain grey box came out and a populare setting was born.

well, the old FR campaign setting boxed set is know as the "old grey box" -- which was introduced in '87. so FR is the setting, and the regions are probably: - Maztica - Menzoberranzan - Kara-Tur - Al-Qadim - Moonshae
how's that?

The campaign is the FR...I know one of the regions that was suppose to be left untouched was Sembia. I can't name any of the others though...

I just remember Sembia because when they did mess with it...they did just a completely crappy job and ignored completely the little they did give on it.

Ding Dong! Johnkretzer, you are our lucky winner!
The answer was indeed the Forgotten Realms and Sembia was one of the official untouchable.
The Serpent Hills, The Wood of Sharp Teeth and The Desertedge Mountains where the missing... 3?
Made a error with the 5, it was 4! Sorry, but no arm done.
So m. Kretzer, you have the floor.
