hello...

I'm making a new character, around level 8-10... in 3.5 ed and i need some help.

i decided to use to main feats from: Book Of Exalted Deeds
does feats prevent the use of magic and armor and weapons but give you a great AC...
it's also prevent you from harming any cretures...

i decided to build a character that will have a lot of AC and will try to defened her party members( not by attacking) and i would be glad if you could help me.. and i would like here to be a good speker... somthig representive but also with good AC

meanwhile i tought about taking a human:
2 level monk
1 level battle dancer (Dragon Compendium)
3 level forseker ( master of wild)
3 level devoted defender

in the next level ... to increase the forseker levels
so?

what do you think?

So let me get this straight you're planning on using Vow of Poverty? (Broken unless you roleplay it properly)

And then you're going to be a monk (add wis to AC) and Battle dancer (Add Cha to AC) and then forsaker to add to stats(Wis and or Cha) and DR and SR?

If you want to add Int you need to add Duelist or Invisible blade, which will do you no good, other than Int to ac, due to needing the weapons to improve it.

And Fist of the Forest (complete Champions) to add Con to AC

You could of course take Cardemine Monk (from a FR book I can't remember which) so you add Int instead of Wis to AC.

You need pretty good stats for this build, what do you have? I'd suggest Fist of the forest over Forsaker 1st, go into Forsaker after you've finished FotF. But that's me, I love the FotF PrC.

It sounds like depending on your stats you could have a pretty good AC, I'd definitely go for a Monk's belt and Wis and Cha boosting items.

There are also some feats that allow you to take damage instead of your friends, I think they're in CW but I can't recall exactly.

Hope that helps.

the good thing about the forseker that he also get con to ac at level 3... and i will also get the bost...

could you try to remmember from which book his the : Cardemine Monk?

the duelist only let me add 1 int for each level... so no...

what do you think about the devoted defender
?

and what feats were you talking about?

So basically you plan to play a guy who just stands there? Vow of Peace requires that you not harm any living being. You also are forcing Will Saves on your party mates if they are nearby not to hurt things. This becomes a problem if you are facing things immune to mind effects, as your party needs to make saves and they do not.

If you want a High AC and to be the face for the party thats fine, but I would strongly recommend you look over the special section of those feats, and discuss them with your party.

No. this isn't bad at all.
Just play a monk-like character and only do nonlethal damage, or is that banned too?
You could be a very pacifistic monk--> like a Jackie Chan movie.
they go unconscious- your party gets to do whatever.
this could work well with a lockdown crusader or Knight, perhaps.

Now, for AC: you can stack X to AC mods: Fist of Forest + Forsaker would give you twice your Con mod, for example. bonuses from different sources should stack. And FoF goes pretty well with Vow of Poverty flavor.

I draw a blank with Carmedine monk too, but Kung Fu Genius does the same thing, and it's on crystalkeep.com

Unconcious foes must be taken prisoner, and you lose benefit if you allow a party member to harm an unconcious or helpless foe.

Carmendine Monk is in Champions of Valor p28

And remember as an Exalted character you should really play up the Pacifist attitude, IIRC Vow of Peace means you should actively defend helpless targets, not just make them helpless for you party to kill.

In my experience, playing exhalted in a non-exalted group is nearly impossible, and with Vow of Poverty and Peace basically only being balanced by the roleplaying side of it, I'd really think carefully about this guy, because if played properly (in my opinion at least) you'll end up pissing off the party, or losing your exalted status and the effects of the feats.

Agreed. Also if you lose those feats, they are lost, can not be replaced, they are gone. That is the penalty of breaking the vow.

I see. I don't have the book, but I don't see a problem with simply knocking an opponent unconscious. I agree that your party must be okay with these feats though.

Vow of Poverty is balanced with the fact that you can't use magic items. the pros of the feat just don't equal the pros of magic items. It's a huge roleplaying restriction for a not-very-huge benefit. I'm thinking of playing one later, but for fun, not for optimization (It'll be a Drunken Master, heh).
