Set Items are (obstensibly) built on the same power scale as any other item. The "set bonuses" are pure gravy on top. This means that there are any number of set items that are (theoretically) good choices on their own. I'd put them in their slot sections, mentioning that they're part of a set in the blurb, and then making a seperate section for any sets that are notable as sets. (Something I hate about AV2 is that because there are items mixed into the set item section and the index is arranged by level, not slot, there's no easy way to see all of the arm items (or whatever) in one place.) I think it's more useful to have all of the items of a slot in one spot, so that fighters looking for an arm item have one place to look, rather than repeating AV2's setup.
Dwarves invented beer so they could toast to their axes. Dwarves invented axes to kill people and take their beer.

Mmmmm. I agree. As you said if people looking for an arms item then they could miss Hammer Shield if you could only find it under Set Items section.

Excellent guide overall. I just have two criticisms: 1. The plural of "Dwarf" is "Dwarves," not "Dwarfs." Similarly, the plural of "staff" is "staves," not "staffs." 2. Please, please, please learn the difference between "your" and "you're".

By proper English, this is incorrect. Tolkien used Dwarves for... some reason I can't recall now, it's in the foreward to the Hobbit. Tolkien's influence has spread his plural further, and at this point either can be legitimately used.

That may be the case, but 4E D&D uses "Dwarves" as the plural of "Dwarf" as well as the adjective "Dwarven" as opposed to "Dwarfen."
Of course, you could also argue that 4E D&D uses "staffs," but "staffs" has never been acceptable English anywhere for a length of wood. "Staffs" is for talking about "customer service staffs" or similar plural groups of people. WotC just has some morons for managing editors, apparently.

Fairly common misconception. "Staffs" has been an acceptable plural for hundreds of years - see the OED - and there's no morphological reason it shouldn't be. It's also not an "American" thing either; the BBC, for example, uses "Staffs" to refer to the magical implement used by a wizard. (The "staffs is wrong" thing is sort of a personal pet peeve of mine, even though I normally use "staves".)

Griffon's Wrath is a VERY LEAST a purple - and supposing you use Rain of Blows on the next turn? -2 AC may not be that good for one attack, but it sure as hell makes a difference for 3 (4 if you use an action point to make another attack).

General Feats:Weapon Mastery Feats: If you qualify for the weapon mastery feat of your choice then this is a superb pick. Blind Fight: Can be quite good but situational.
Robust Defenses: An excellent way to increase your defenses.
Epic Fortitude/reflexes/will: If you need even better defenses. They are all great feats:
Indomitable Will/Opportune Reflexes/Unyielding Fortitude: They are kinda overshadowed by Robust defenses and epic Fort/ref/will
Epic Recovery: Decent but excellent for dwarfs.
