I had a question on some of the new barbarian powers.

For the question, assume the barbian has 18 str, wields two +1 bastard swords, has taken weapon focus (heroic teir) and two-weapon fighting, and has iron arm bands of power.

How much damage do I do with the following attacks?  I am taking my best guess, but I want to be corrected if I am wrong

Whirling rend

1d10+9 to the target, 1d10+4 a second adjacent target.

Whirling Frenzy (here is where I get confused)

1d10+7+1d10+6 (rolling damage from both weapons as if they were seperate attacks)

1d10+1d10+7 (only adding the additional die of damage)

1d10+8 (rolling the additional die of damage and adding the weapon enhancement from the second weapon)

something else entirely?

Also, how much damage do I take on a miss?

1d6?

1d6+9? it is rolled damage from a power with keywords, does that mean I add modifers to it?  If so, do I add the +1 from TWF?

thanks for any calrifications.

I don't yet have my Primal Power yet, but I will take a guess here.

Whirling Rend
Is the hit line 1[w]+Str to target and 1[w] (off-hand) to adjacent target?

If so, then it should be 1d10+4 (str) +1 (enhancment) + 2 (armbands) +1 (TWF) +1 (focus) and 1d10 + 1 (enhancement) +2 (armbands) +1 (TWF) +1 (focus): 1d10+9 and 1d10+5

Whirling Frenzy
Hit line 1[W] (main) + 1[W] off + str?

If so, it is all 1 damage roll. You will take the higher of the enhancement bonuses (since it can't stack). It should be 1d10 + 1d10 + 4 (str) + 1 (enh) + 2 (armbands) +1 (TWF) + 1 (focus) = 2d10 +9

I'm not sure what the miss line reads as, so I cannot answer that.

Miss: You take 1d6 damage

You just take the 1d6, no modifiers.

 Why not?

Not that I am disagreeing with you, I just want to know the rule rather than the application.

Thanks, for the answers.  The hit line for frenzy is

Hit: 1[w] +1 [w] (off-hand)+Str mod

I suppose it makes sense that you only roll your largest enhament modifer for weapon damage, it just seems very odd in practice that you recieve no practical benefit from it.  If the off hand enchanment requires you to "hit with this weapon" or "attack with this weapon", does that mean you could not use it with this and other powers?  If so, that restricts many of the whirling powers, since they often deal damage with the off hand, but never have you make off hand attack rolls.

The miss line is:

Miss: you take 1d6 damage

Because it just says 1d6. It does not say 1d6 + STR or any other modifier.

My Whirling Rend off-hand is wrong--you were right. TWF only applies to your main hand weapon.

The 1d6 would be effected by all damage roll modifiers. Enhancment, Focus, Armbands, and maybe TWF. So either 1d6+4 or 1d6+5.

Whoops, I forgot to mention that whirling frenzy is a close burst, so the iron arm bands are out.

Given that it includes enhanement and feat bonuses, the damage you do to yourself could add up to a considerable amount.

Would you add the TWF bonus to the damage you take?  Why or why not?

twin strike doesn't list an specific modifiers to damage, and all mods save attribute clearly apply to it.  Why wouldn't it be the same for this damage?

Now it's a good point. Maybe magic enhancement and other weapon damage bonus are  tied to the [W]? I'm not sure either.
