I've mentioned this before in the chatroom, but I should make it formal in the OOC thread.

I'm done with LoC

Everytime I post it seems more and more forced, like this is a chore rather than fun. I'd write a final post or something, but I don't really know how. Zo-Att is gone, and I have no other way to express that.

Sorry if this inconveniences anyone.

I put up a new thread on our forum.  I'm interested in talking about whats working and what isn't in the game.  Please take a moment to post.  Thanks!

So... I've kinda gotten to a dead end with Ymalos and his races sequestered away on their little planet. I was thinking that Raktem could crash into another planet. Anyone want to roleplay something on their planet?

Is it just me, or has this game slowed to a crawl due to people not really having anything to do?
Flag Veok February 16, 2010 6:16 AM PST
Age I was great, Age II was slower, Age III is dead. Hm.
Flag Topheh February 16, 2010 9:58 AM PST
Well, then lets make something for people to do then.  I vote we figure out some way to get our people moving between planets so we can have some more varied interactions.
Flag Topheh February 16, 2010 10:00 AM PST

Veok, what happened to that last post of yours?

Flag Nerdzul February 16, 2010 11:07 AM PST
Imho (in my humble opinion) Age 1 was a little booring, its high activity levels was mostly due to the intial hype and large player base... Age 2 was a little better however we kept loosing active players and finally in age 3 we are too few I wonder why btw... after all the appearance of civilization shound enhance not reduce the option for role playing...

My opinion might be a little biased however since I dislike gods drama and like more to shape things :p

Also we wasted the opportunity of a funny event with Yrie invasion, it might have being cooler with the gods playing their parts trough mortal proxies but with the big boom the fight was over (I never got to send my crusade of sorrow there /cry).

I think that maybe recruitment or restart mighr reignite the interest (even if I'm not sure that its a good time to restart... maybe we can wait a few month for that), in game I guess we can try to introduce some kind of conflict that is not based too much on direct divine involvment for example or find a way to get players more attached to the races that they created :p

It's around. I can find it if need be. Why?

Flag Krika February 16, 2010 3:25 PM PST
Well, my opinion is that people have reached a stable point. There is nothing imminent that can be considered reason to post, and people don't seem to have any idea of what to do next. A couple of things gods did (not pointing fingers) seemed like they could be interesting at first, but then they sort of just got annoying/boring. Also, if somebody does something with one of their races, they can do it without any other race involved, or touched, or even noticing that it is happening. Unlike in the last game, where if one nation did something, a lot of other people would notice, and respond, which would provoke more responses, etc.

People just seem to have run out of ways to make this game interesting at the moment.

Giant spaceship flowers. Did you forget about those?

Flag AnubisDread February 16, 2010 4:53 PM PST

I thought those were more like giant space flower fixed gun torrent type things rather than spaceships? Or am I thinking of other space flowers?

As for me, I admit a lot of the reason I haven't posted much lately is real life getting in the way and burn out. I am working on trying to get a few things up and running though, like the goblins on Khendras... I think that's how it's spelled anyway

On a completely unrelated note, what do you use to make the god relationship charts? I need something like that for a campaign I'm working on.

Hehe.  Yeah, it was sorta buried in there, wasn't it?  Its the same proposition I'm making to these other 6 races and that I made to the Foulspawn.

I use a program called Graphviz.  It takes some getting used to the syntax, but once you get a handle on it, its pretty easy to use.

Hi All,

Just to warn you, I'm going to be quite busy until tuesday, so not only will my plots languish a bit, but the reset might be delayed... you all know the drill by now, though
Flag ff6shadow February 24, 2010 3:41 PM PST
Anubis, classes are not a guide action. Class are not taught.
Flag AnubisDread February 24, 2010 3:49 PM PST
Really? I thought you did teach classes, but as whole power sources? So it's less like 'goblins can now be wizards' so much as 'goblins learn to channel arcane power'.
Flag Topheh February 26, 2010 6:27 PM PST
*cough*

Wow Aboleth.  You *really* don't like those things, do you?
Flag AnubisDread February 26, 2010 10:13 PM PST

...Aboleth, in the interest of fairness I'm going to ask that you retract that last action. Not fairness for me, fairness to you. I have more PP than you, and get 2 extra PP instead of just one every reset. I don't want the World Eaters to die, and I will nourish them back to full, then counter attack against the trolls with my 1 PP left.

I don't want to get into a nourish/denourish war here, hence why I posted this warning.

EDIT: Besides which, how does a mortal have the ability to channels a god's maximum power??

EDIT le EDIT: Oh, he's an exarch... still seems a bit contrived though, especially because he has no idea where any of the World Eaters he's denourishing ARE.

Flag Veok February 27, 2010 12:10 AM PST

He doesn't know where they are. He is still getting used to his power. I'll take back the part about killing most of the race, if you let me kill the delegates.

I er... wha?

Flag Aradeia February 27, 2010 11:30 AM PST
I think he meant to say Aboleth.

But yeah, I second the suggestion to retract it, it isn't exactly sportsmanlike after all. I'm not going to tell you what to do, but you would be pretty upset if someone did the same to you.
Flag AnubisDread February 27, 2010 12:57 PM PST

Alright, it was pretty bad of him to wipe out all of the World Eaters like that (okay, exceptionally bad) but I might have goaded Aboleth on a little by having the World Eater regenerate even though he put PP towards destroying him... kill the delegates, they'd probably just end up eating everyone anyway Wink

EDIT: In fact, since there are only two of them and I agree with you killing them, feel free to do so without any PP Expenditure... and I think wiping out a race when you have no idea where it is is more than a little meta-gaming, but since you were retracting it anyway no harm no foul.

I am a little curious though, how would you respond if the Dhorem did this to the trolls? It's practically exactly the same circumstance after all, except you were active when the World Eaters chowed down on the moon.

EDIT le EDIT... again... I need to think of all these things at once, I really do: Shadow, if we don't teach classes or even power sources to races, what would be the equivalent to teaching the goblinoids divine classes? Divine Magic? Nourish a religious organization?

Flag Aboleth11 February 27, 2010 2:17 PM PST
Changed it.

I don't know how I would respond, cause it never came up. Aldii was OK with the trolls eating them and by the time I started trying to kill them again, she was inactive.
Flag Topheh February 27, 2010 5:13 PM PST
Reset will be a little late tonight, but... you know the drill

Also, I'd like to formally propose that we scrap the current ascension system and return to the LoC2 method of self-picking domains in order to try and drum up some new blood for the game.  Thoughts?

Also, for any former players who are lurking, please consider coming back or at least trying to play again for a week or so.  We all hit massive amounts of burnout a few weeks back, but... I think we can get this to be a ton of fun again, and I don't want to just give up on it quite yet.
Flag Nerdzul February 27, 2010 6:14 PM PST
I agree on the ascension or at least anyone interested should be able to post the domain he or she wants and then anyone  can volunteer to ascend them (to keep the family three stuff going)
Flag Aboleth11 March 1, 2010 7:44 AM PST

Flag Topheh March 1, 2010 8:03 AM PST

Flag shadowhntr7 March 1, 2010 8:20 AM PST
Bad, bad news. Dad just called me, telling me he got an email from our ISP. Apparently we went over the bandwidth allowed for last month, due to me being stuck at home for the second month in a row with absolutely nothing to do. Apparently downloading and playing WoW was a bad idea... He said that he's going to have to cut off wireless access for everyone but himself so...I'm screwed. Big time.

Of course, I haven't really been interested in LoC lately, but...ugh. I am so screwed.

Flag Topheh March 2, 2010 2:03 PM PST
Oh, you have?  I just tried picking a race that wouldn't be high on people's list of demands... I'll change that

I was the gnomes in LoC2.  Variety should be... important.
Flag AnubisDread March 2, 2010 2:05 PM PST

Don't feel you have to if gnomes are right for the concept man, I can't expect every race I want to be on the waiting list forever

I will in fact make one, but under whoes god should mine be ascended under? And what Domains are still available?

[EDIT:]
Well, I guess I could make a God of Illusions.

Name: Kevmet
Starting Domain: Illusion
Appearance: Kevmet appears as an elderly man with a black robe that hangs down to his ankles. He has sharp, icy blue eyes and short, blonde hair that is brushed back. He has a tall physique, and has a stout attitude-- in general, he is outgoing. He is infamous for his riddles and puzzles that leaves others that he meets guessing. He is very easy to keep track of, yet nobody knows what dirty tricks he has up his sleeves.
Holy Symbol: A standard rectangular shape with bevelled edges, and an illusory image that looks like an old lady at one glance, and a young woman the next.

How's that, Topheh?

Here's a picture of Kevmet:

There you go, Xeadin!

Eklu, I'm very curious as to where you're going with the goo-planet... curious and somewhat worried!
Flag Topheh April 2, 2010 12:20 PM PDT
Well guys, I think its time.  I'm going to point at the big elephant in the room.

The game is dead and/or dying, and I think its about time we wrap it up.  Posting has slowed to a trickle, and I'd rather go out with some sort of planned end than watch it limp along for another month or two.

So I'm thinking that next week's reset (not tomorrow, but the week after), will be the last reset, barring a sudden resurgence of interest.  In that time, I'd love it if people could put some final touches on the game... put adventure seeds in, wrap up loose ends, etc, etc.

After that... well, we'll wait and see.  Definitely give the game a rest and let us all recover before starting another iteration.

For those who want to know, these are my plans for what I'd like to do before this all is done:
1)  The Vok-and-friends move on to Verda in my last post, leaving the end of the game in conflict for people to play with
2)  Install and promote Ravnos as a false mouthpiece for Dvrgr
3)  Really flesh out my Order
4)  Create a more dynamic situation between the Quori and Eye-Kin
5)  Send Karhedron searching for Kythandrin
6)  Something big involving the Potentium, but... not sure what yet.
Flag Moondoggy April 2, 2010 12:29 PM PDT
I am aware of the world's state of affairs, but I was not informed that there was an elephant present.

I think that this would be a good time to wrap things up. It would give us all some time to take care of all the stuff that's keeping us from posting. Also, I agree that it would be fun to leave the whole vok war thing open for a campaign.

Veok, here's what I'm thinking.

I kill one/both of your exarchs (one being Harbringer, but I don't know that)  And eat them all up.  (yum!)

Then, the Harbringer destroys Webweaver from within and the hordes scatter.

Sound good?
Flag Veok April 16, 2010 3:19 PM PDT

I have... no idea how long ago it was by now since I just dropped out, but I'd just like to apologize for doing so. Especially since TSO had his hands in pretty much everything that went on, and so his lack couldn't have made things easy... I could make excuses about how I started up a new course, and how work took off, and how I suffered a huge load of burn out, but plenty of other had the same issues and kept posting (kudos to them by the way, they deserve it). At first it was a few days off to take a break, then it was longer, then I was too embarrassed to post again after such a long absence. In retrospect I probably couldn't have continued on in this LoC as I STILL have no idea wth I should have done at that point in the game, but at the very least I could have blatantly said I was dropping off the radar and written TSO out of the game instead of leaving all his actions hanging out there, not to mention the people I was interacting with at the time.

So again, sorry. I hope this LoC ended up ending well despite my laziness.

Calling all would-be gods, spirits, primordials, and Lovecraftian Horrors!

Are you ready for LoC 4? So are we! Only one problem: it hasn't been designed yet!

Got an idea for a rule change? Want to vote on the workings of the world? Complaint about a previous iteration of the ruleset? Come to the LoC forums (link below) and vent your opinion!

This is our chance to smooth out the rough spots of the game we've all known and played! Plus, the quicker we can come to a comfortable consensus, the quicker we can launch LoC4!

It's not too late to redeem yourself, Anubis! Woo!

Heh, although it should be noted that we are going to take a nice healthy break before starting the next iteration, yes... anyone interested in helping with the process, please come to the boards.

Anubis, glad to hear from you again.  No worries about the burnout... such things happen.  Come on chat soon, k?

It's too bad I couldn't do anything in the end of the game, but ah well. I'm still without internet, so it's not anything I can affect.. Work on Creos has been off an on, and I got a fairly interesting (in my opinion) planar setup written out. My book's up to 18 pages now, it'd be more if I wasn't a lazy bum, lol.

Hopefully I'll get internet back for LoC4, I really loved it. 'specially early on.

Well Hunter, you and your wiki-fu are always welcome back.  Hopefully we'll see you around soon!

To those wondering, planning on LoC4 is coming along nicely.  If you're waiting for it to start, we hope to be ready to begin by the end of the month.

Hello one and all, long time no see.  I was Drahthor all the way back in Lords of Creation 2 and got burned out back then because of.... well because of some things.  Anyways, Im at the start of a long and boring summer where my home RP group is going to be out of town, so I thought I might swing back by and try my hand at some Deity action again.  I see that my timing is pretty good, as you guys are between games at the moment.  Just want to say I would be interested in playing in Lords of Creation 4 when it gets started if that is okay with everyone (notably the game moderators).

Hey, Ritreaude. Glad to see you back in the game. You did miss quite a lot (as I have... ) but I guess LoC 3 had its own problems along the way... which is normal for almost every game made. You're bound to hit some hurdles in progress. I'm in the middle of creating a couple of games myself (well, one of them is complete; the other I have yet to finish...)

I've also finished my first novel- Magi Chronicles: Bashiro Prophecies. You all can view it here.

Anyway, glad to hear from you again.

I haven't yet looked over how the current game is flowing, but I had played the old one under my old name GhostVampire (I can't even remember how I spelled it.). If there's space in this game I would like to join in.

Edit: I saw there's another thread as well. I'm sorry if I've necroposted on this thread.
