Hey, folks; I've been revamping the smilies lately, (see my gallery to check them out; give me feedback!) and I wanted to add in those long-requested D&D symbols as well while I was at it.

How do you like these?

And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real.

as long as i have to make an image tag, i'd say your gallery is nice, but useless.

also, the arrow/sword/combat icons seem a bit crude. maybe this is due to improper resizing or transparency? unless it's on completely white background, they do not look as nice.

Here be dragons:

It has to do with wanting Next to determine who won the Edition War.

For those of us who just want D&D Next to be a good game, this is getting to be a real drag.

Regardless of what anyone else might say, this is excellent.

Here are the PHB essentia, in my opinion:
  • Three Basic Rules (p 11)
  • Power Types and Usage (p 54)
  • Skills (p178-179)
  • Feats (p 192)
  • Rest and Recovery (p 263)
  • All of Chapter 9 [Combat] (p 264-295)

A player needs to read the sections for building his or her character -- race, class, powers, feats, equipment, etc. But those are PC-specific. The above list is for everyone, regardless of the race or class or build or concept they are playing.

Any thoughts towards expanding the dice set?  (d4, d20, etc etc)

That's the thing--these are going to be brought into the BBCode family if I can manage it.

Unfortunately, they have to be GIFs right now--I can't upload PNGs to go for partial transparency. I'm gonna work on that, but right now getting them up at all is more important than getting the edges pretty.

If there's a demand for it and somebody can find me some decent reference images, sure.

The cut and paste option on this board is better than the last one, so it is as simple and copy and paste, like I did with the smiley below to test it.

... ok copy paste indeed works, but why are they gone in the quote?

For years, I've lived a double life. In the day, I do my job - I ride the bus, roll up my sleeves with the hoi-polloi. But at night, I live a life of exhilaration, of missed heartbeats and adrenalin. And, if the truth be known a life of dubious virtue. I won't deny it - I've been engaged in violence, even indulged in it. I've maimed and killed adversaries, and not merely in self-defence. I've exhibited disregard for life, limb and property, and savoured every moment. You may not think it, to look of me but I have commanded armies, and conquered worlds. And though in achieving these things I've set morality aside, I have no regrets. For though I've led a double life, at least I can say - I've lived.

copy and paste is all well and such, but - you'd still need to have a page with all the image links in front of you to accomplish that. also, it voids offline editing of your post - you can easily type without TinyMCE editor, but copying the white mana symbol to e.g. Notepad will give you some headaches.

@zamm: hoping to see them implemented soon. can't wait to type someting like again. not necessarily with those tags, but i'm sure you get it.

Folks may also appreciate having the stylized "diamond" symbol that most often appears between the usage and power source keywords in power descriptions.

I mean, we could use the ♦ symbol that appears under the "special symbols" list;  However, a diamond which is more accurate to how it appears in official print (as well as being scaled properly relative to symbols above) would no doubt be appreciated.  It would also be convenient if such a symbol appeared in the smilies list alongside the ones you mentioned.

I'll sometimes go days without being online;  Have patience, it may take me days to respond.
