I'll tell you like I told the other guy. I do not have to use my good dice to attack the party. I can switch out dice anytime I wish and for what ever reason I wish. If a player who fails several rolls in a row decides to switch out his dice to get better odds, is he cheating? I don't think so.
I am sorry you don't like it, but there's nothing you can do about it. It's not against the written rules and the DM has no power over which dice a player chooses to roll. If that were so, then why don't the DM tell a player who's rolling crappy to keep using his crappy dice because it benefits his monsters and NPCs, because the DM can't. I'll flat out tell a DM this and have done so in the past. The DM controls the fantasy world, not the real one. I choose the dice to use and when, not the DM. Sorry folks, it ain't happnin...
I challenge you to find three people to agree with you here.

The DM can stop you from using any dice in his game. It's called 'Get out of my game, you cheating bastard'.
Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.

I don't care. I didn't start the alligations of cheating, someone else did. I have simply said all long, the DM has no power over which dice a player uses for whatever reason. I never brought up the notion of loaded dice, someone else did. I simply said, my dice roll good for me. Someone else said the DM can make a player use whatever dice they want them to use, and I said no. Where's the confusion? Not with me apparantly.

Thanks to all you who decided to turn the thread upside down for your own purposes and destroy any chance for a meaningful debate. I'm getting tired of this thread and the alligations of the posters on it. Apparently, they know all about me and are all knowing about everything. Thanks for nothing...

As a dm i would not allow a player to close his/her eyes or drop their weapon if dominated. It violates the spirit and the rules of dominate as i see them. Also, if you are using dice you know always roll better than your other dice, you are cheating. As a dm, Im fine if a player has a lucky streak, but if it happens 3-4 sessions in a row i start to get curious. then if i see them doing extremly well next session ill just tell them to stop using that die. if they refuse ill ask to use the die next session for all my rolls. if they refuse I would boot them. I had one guy in a group that had such a die and after test driving it after the game i asked him not to use it and he stopped. I also have players who currently offhandenly mention crooked dice so i have to be watchful, even though i hope that they dont do it.

I responded to your claim that a DM never has the right to tell PC what to roll or not to. I did provide two examples of when they would be within there rights to say "no you can't use that die"
I never said YOU cheated...I said there was a reason that a Dm had the right...and if one felt it was an issue only a gulty person makes a stink. so thank you for repatedly ignore my two examples of why I did do just what you said DMs have no right to do.

The two editions are very different...and make for two different games.
In general, 3.0/3.5 is built around more-or-less full freedom in terms of character customization. In contrast, 4.0 is built around balance and ease of play. Honestly, I think WotC should have maintained both lines as parallel games. (real life friends came up with this not me) The Resident Nonexistant Antichrist Neanderthal Amish Werewolf Jesus Delusion.
