I am in need of some clarification on one of the rules. If a creature or group of creatures is identical in all respects to an official product but for one addition, can the group be cited and then the simple ammendment be added within the competition rules? The goal is to make it easy for novice DMs to use your entry. There is no hard and fast rule. If you're asking them to apply templates and make adjustments a stat block will make more sense. If it's a single minor adjustment, then a full stat block is probably unnecessary.
As an example. My zombie meets all of the information from the MM but its animation only comes about as a result of an effect and only at night. It's inappropriate for judges to give people specific help on an entry. Use your best judgment. After all, you're the Expert DM!

Athistaur. Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch. Kann ich mit Ihnen mein Deutsch ueben?
If you look past the plot and the voice acting, Metroid: Other M was an okay game. Not a great game, but an adequate one.
Not using the Metroid item collect jingle though? That, was a mistake.

Athistaur. Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch. Kann ich mit Ihnen (formal) / dir (informal) ueben? i'd rather not see that kind of discussion in here, it seems to derail the thread even further..
As for monster names: yeah, german people tend to consider their own language ugly - same with english people, french people and so on. the fresh new stuff always sounds better, since you're not as familiar with it - it just isn't as ordinary as just calling something by its usually used name.
a good example for such are computer games like diablo: treebeard is for most germans an acceptable name, whilst baumbart (same name translated into german) is pretty lame...

i'd rather not see that kind of discussion in here, it seems to derail the thread even further.. In my defense, I had been trying to change it the past 2 days when the forum was being maintained. 'course now you've quoted it and I'm pretty much out of luck there, haha...
