the acidic spent lime hulls could be used in a massive stavation attack, to crater the Ph of their croplands... like salting wells, but green

Right you are! If life gives you lemons, use them to diplomatic effect towards an antiquated culture you've met due to unspecified conditions leading to a kind of 'time warp', sending you and your military compatriots into the distant past!
That's the phrase, right?

Exactly. Along with alcohol and cigarettes, we set them up with production lines for soda and lemonade so they can stay refreshed in the hot sun. As backstabbist basically said, Roman vices are nothing compared with modern vices.

I think this would be the perfect solution to the Army's stockpile of chemical weapons. Take them back in time and use them on Rome! No EPA regulations!!!!!! And once you saturate an area with VX, no one is going in there for a very long time. Area denial. Once the Romans realized just how bad this stuff was, they would be scared to even think about approaching these new green gods.

as this thread will not die - an ` ideas brain stormer ` my opinion is that in hand to hand fighting with melle weapons - unless they get months of training - a modern army company [ 110 - 140 men ] is going to fare baddly - very baddly against a roman century [ 100 ] so the solution to the long haul is to use ` opening salvos ` of weaponry that depends on modern knowlege - but can be built ` in the feild ` such as fougasse built to 18th century spec =- with black powder and stones incendaries and chemical weapons - built from low tech base chemicals - ie molotov cocktails in terracotta jars - filled with a mix of distilates from pitch , pine resin etc biological warfare - sounds risky and prone to backfiring - but how about biological warfare aimed at roman agriculture ? - deliberatly spreading foot and mouth , blue tongue etc - that only affect live stock any others ?

What about Future military (pl7) vs the Romans?
Before, it was just a fun exercise in which the Romans could have won. Now, it's just sad: by this PL, nuclear (and worse!) weapons will be much smaller, more likely to be used against Evil Aliens (TM) and so, it wouldn't surprise me if the brigade/platoon/etc has some with them.
