The best things I could think of to increase my range with a bow were far shot and the distance enchant. Mix that with deepwood sniper, after that what do you do for more range?

Cragtop archer, one of their abilities lowers either the penalty for distance, and then I believe another increases their range

The combo of Deepwood Sniper + Cragtop Archer + Heavy Crossbow of Distance lets you break the speed of sound with a crossbow bolt. It's something slightly silly from a few years ago. The basics are 10 levels in DS, 4 in CA, Far Shot, and a +1 Heavy Crossbow of Distance. For a 10th level DS, the range increment on the above weapon is now 460 feet. The cragtop archer can make an arching shot that allows a projectile weapon to have 15 range increments, instead of 10. So now our maximum range is 6900 feet. They can also make one shot as a full round action that ignores all penalties for range, and the two abilities may be used together. So now we have a single crossbow bolt traveling 6900 feet in approximately 6 seconds (one round). To express that in miles per hour, we divide 6900 feet into 5280 feet (there are 5280 feet in a mile). That gives us a number of 1.306818181 (repeating). We'll cut it off at 1.3. So now our crossbow bolt is traveling at 1.3 miles every 6 seconds. there are 10 "6 second" increments in a minute, so in a minute our bolt travels 13 miles. There are 60 minutes in an hour, so now our bolt travels at approximately 780 miles per hour. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_soundThat page lists various speeds of sound, but we will concern ourselves with the altitude and speed of sound at which the first supersonic flight took place - or 660 mphs. Can you picture this? You are walking along a country road with your fellow adventurers, when all of a sudden you think you see a blur and your friends head explodes. A few seconds later you hear the loudest noise you've ever heard in your life and all your glass potions break. Fear the sniper.

try this:
Great Bow...range Increment = 120' made from Dragonbone......+20' to range increment
from Complete Psionics:
Extend Range (1st level Psiwarrior power).....augments up to 21pp for base increment x 7(with Overchannel and Practiced Manifester)
so total looks like this
140 x7 980' range increment
3 levels of Cragtop Archer = 15 range increments
total range= 14700' or 2.784091 Miles
PsiWarrior 17/ Cragtop Archer 3, works very well here
:D

You know you qualify as artillery when it's more effective to use divination magic to locate your targets than a Spot check.

another thing to put in that combination is the spell giant size through whatever means you can manage.
remember that every size category increase multiplies the range increment by 1.25 so going from medium to colossal is a multiplier of ~2.44
this would bring your total range up to 35888' or 6.79 miles. (roughly the range of a WWII era howitzer.)
Now, admittedly a colossal creature is taking a -16 penalty on their hide check, but at that distance the victim is taking a -3588 on their spot check I believe that is totally irrelevant given that opposed checks like hide vs spot preclude the possibility of a critical success.

I am well aware that real-life physics doesn't mesh well with D&D, but I figured I'd bring it up, as this scene had me blowing my drink through my nose...
A monorail has the potential to go faster than the speed of sound, the only reason why it doesn't is because researchers fear that the sonic boom that will be created, will kill anything within its range.
Taken in conjunction with the exploding head, chances are the following sonic boom will kill the rest of the group and if extremely lucky, the sniper too. Its like a BBEG wet dream...

Err, no, a bullet breaks the speed of sound by a considerable margin, and you you rarely hear of the shooter being killed by that boom.
Actually, the boom from an arrow would be on the order of that from a .50 caliber rifle, possibly a little more, but due to the way waves propagate in 3 dimensions it won't kill anyone (I can't say as to the integrity of their hearing after that though).
