I miss 3ed, where you could cast a maximized empowered simulacrum to get a creature more powerful than the original.

Regarding deities: Metamagic rods of Extend are core. Use one with a CL40ish Red Wizard minion to sustain the gate long enough.
Deck of Many Things: IF you can get one, put it in a Heward's Handy Haversack. The H3 says, "When the wearer reaches in for a specific item, that item is always on top." A card is an item, though this may be subject to interpretation. Have at it, gentlemen. Would still only allow one draw per deck, and even then the specific rules on drawing cards might over rule the general rules for using the haversack.
Astral Projection hi-jinx once again? But the DoMT trick again breaks the orginal rules lay down.
Though I guess this thread is over what with 4th ed quite here. Hillarious read though.

The objective wasn't achieved though, so continuing the challenge ought to be just fine.

I'm am shocked that noone has mentioned this yet. Magic item stacking. I know it might not directly help the PCs ascend to god hood, but still, even the op's first post mentions that lowering the xp value then gaining it back is fine. So spend, spend, spend, then, when you end up playing the only 5th/6th/whatever level character in a 20th level game, you are 1) doing as much good as the other PCs using magic items like '(evard's) black tentacles' at will from a cloak you made yourself, and 2) you get more XP than them because XP scales up for taking on creature with higher CR than your level.

Ok, after having read through this entire thread: What shot down the following?
Use Shapechange to get a SU ability, then Polymorph into an elemental with that SU ability, and then clone the elemental. Now you have an elemental with the desired SU ability, and you can Elemental Wildshape into it to gain that ability yourself. Then clone yourself.
Now you have an elemental version of yourself with this Su ability innately (I'll now call this "You"). You then make another elemental clone with whatever new Su ability you want (as above), and Elemental Wildshape into that. Since Alternate Form/Elemental Wild Shape says you gain the Su abilities of the new form as well as keeping your own, you get both.
So this should offer a way of getting all Su abilities of things that can be affected by Polymorph, and someone came up with a way to get the ones that can't also, I think.
So does this work? It should also work for Extraordinary and SLAs, I think. So that should basically be a way to get (almost?) all Su, Ex, and SLAs.
With the barghest's feed ability, you should be able to get infinite HD, which gives you infinite alot of other stuff.
