Deepwarden

Second level ability:

Stone Warden (Ex): Beginning at 2nd level, a deepwarden knows how to use his strengths to compensate for his weaknesses. He adds his Constitution bonus to AC instead of his Dexterity, if the character's Constitution bonus is higher. The deepwarden loses this bonus to his Armor Class whenever he would normally be denied his Dexterity bonus to AC. In such a situation, the deepwarden would still be considered flat-footed.

Qualify with Ranger 3+two levels of whatever.

Of course, the PrC is just two levels long

Oh ya, and Whisper gnomes , as well as being almost as bad as the 10,000 other subraces out there, ROCK.

+2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, -2 Strength, -2 Charisma are nice ability mods (what ever happened to a Cha penalty not being worth anything?),.

Whisper gnome base land speed is 30 feet, despite their size.

Low-Light Vision: A whisper gnome can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. He retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.

Darkvision: Whisper gnomes can see in the dark out to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and whisper gnomes can function just fine with no light at all.

+4 racial bonus on Hide and Move Silently checks: Whisper gnomes have an uncanny knack for stealth.

+2 racial bonus on Listen and Spot checks: Whisper gnomes have keen eyes and ears.

Spell-Like Abilities: 1/day -- silence (must be centered on whisper gnome's body). A whisper gnome with a Charisma score of at least 10 also has the following spell-like abilities: 1/day -- ghost sound, mage hand, message. Caster level 1st; save DC 10 + whisper gnome's Cha modifier + spell level.

Ya, these guys are on the Lesser Svirfneblin level.

i do not understand why you say the PrC is 2 levels long. The Deepwarden i linked to from you is 9 levels long. Are implying that the first 2 levels are the only ones worth taking?

since this is the CO board, I guess so

umm, that gnome race seems to be +1 LA (maybe they forget to add it)... In my books, a guy with unbalanced stats and being able to cast a powerful level 2 spell must have LA.

I wouldn't say that a PrC with d12 HD and 6(!!!) skill points per level + excellent skill options is only 2 levels long. In fact, I would say that it's almost too good to be true. (or too good to be allowed, depending on how generous your DM is.).

Just a thought.

Wow! Two good saves, uncanny dodge, a d12 hit die, and easy requirements to enter. Sounds... unbalanced? Dwarves get all the best PrCs.

So a dwarf wearing full-plate (+8 AC) would gain full bonus from his Con store, or would it rather be limited just like Dex bonus?

As near as I can tell, he'd get the full Con bonus, since CON doesn't have limitations. Just imagine this guy with a Tower Shield....man...welcome to the newest BROKEN CLASS.

Me Likey! Me Likey Much! This'll show my DM for making us all play Dwarves...

Happy Gaming!

Wow, this with a Kensai would rock.

Mainly for the Kensai ability to do concentration checks instead of reflex saves.

Deepwardens get good Will & Fort saves, so if you can replace their Reflex save with a Concentration check, they're set.

And Concentration happens to be a class skill that they can spend those lovely 6+Int skill points on. (Oh yeah, and is Con based, and Deepwardens should have a good Con.)

Cheers,
