Well.. it was along the lines of "3e is dead, move on"...

And he's kinda right. Either embrace 4eFR, or go elsewhere. We're just poking a corpse with a stick at this point.

Well, like I said, I already had a fallen Raumanther locale in the same area that one was supposed to have been in (mine was more of a POW camp the size of a city, so it works)

Okay.

I as just wondering, because I think Stigger had 'called me to task' about Elminster starting the Harpers... and I was right. :D

He was the only member of both Harper groups, and he's the one that carried-over the symbol from the original (AFAIK, he was the sole-survivor). The Harpers at Twilight were nearly exclusively Elven and only operated in Cormanthor.

The Syncrenism that BCM (and others) so despise is evident in both RW and K-T. It is real, and it is present. Khazari is the ultimate example of a religous 'melting pot'. The actual Divine structire of K-T has very little to do with the mortal beliefs surrounding it - the religions can be as similar or as different as any of us wish them to be.

I don't despise syncretism. In fact, I like it. I just want you to get the facts straight. :P

Really? It doesn't feel like it to me. Quite the reverse actually. On one side we have the rich and vibrant active setting, and on the other the dead and bloated corpse. Can you guess which is which?

Look around, most discussion still seems to be based around the classic Realms, and new people wanting to know all about it. "4e FR is dead, go back." is more the case.

-Then poke a corpse, then. If you enjoy poking corpses, the people who don't like poking corpses can go to hell.

-Ah, a fallen location. That makes more sense. I thought you meant that in the sense of a location that's still there, and doing good, and whatever else, that simply was left off of the maps in error (or for whatever other reasons), and forgotten about by the designers, as a result.

No... it was an empty city of ghouls (do undead count as 'empty'?).

Not a whole city of them... just a bunch living in the ruins. You'll note a locale called 'Fanlaag' on my latest Hordelands maps (on an island on the river in the far north). I've had that there for well over a year - I needed a prison in that region for one of the history-fixes I was working on (concerning the Copper Demon of Troos).

It just happens to be right in the area that 'deserted city' is, so now it becomes a prison-city dating from the time of the Narfell-Ruamathar conflict.

Thats a working-title... I'm not exactly happy with it (perhaps Gorlaag?)

So I'm confused. Has the Utter East Compendium been made yet, or is it still in progress?

Well, it ended-up getting rolled into a 'Hordelands Netbook' I started, but then Idecided I need to finish a bunch of stuff in the Kara-Tur project first (because there were tie-ins), and one thing lead to another...

So no, it hasn't been made, but I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately, and may just go back to the original plan of a smaller work just detailing this region (and worry about tie-ins to other areas later).

Rather then the all-inclusive work I had imagined (which would have never seen the light-of-day), I'll probably just do a page or two on each country/group, with a detailed map of each nation or area.

Then from that basic outline, we can build off it (with NPCs, monsters, magic items, etc). Hopefully, once that 'guide book' is done, other folks will be able to help me with the 'crunchy bits'.

So Im re-doing the entire continental map once again... before I ever finish any version, my skills get better and I have to start over.

Anyhow, this time I want things PERFECT (or more perfecter... :P ), and I noticed things were way-off with the Utter East is concerned - it is quite a bit larger then what I had, which was bringing Zakhara way too close to Faerûn.

So, expect a new version of the Utter East soon. I was planning on revisiting this region again anyway, because I wanted to finally get the Netbook done. I was going to add individual maps for each country/geographic area, and add more details, and now I'll have the room to do so.

Theres always a bright side to my obssession.

I'm loving this thread and loving the passion and the scope of you guys' research and imagination.

It's taking me a long time to assimilate everything you've found/adjusted/created but I'm looking at the Utter East as the setting for my next campaign!

Thank you - thats what it is all about (and what keeps us going).

Hopefully I'll have at least a map of the new terrain by the end of the week - the mountains are always the hardest part, but I'm using the better parts of the ones I already completed as a basis, so hopefully it won't take me nearly as long.

I finally placed the Raurin last night (correctly, I might add - further north then shown on the official 3e map), and everything else if falling-out beautifully now. All the weirdness that was created on my Hordelands map (because of the changes to the 3e map) are being compensated for - the entire continent looks much more like it's 1e/2e original, with the appearance, feel, and size of the 3e map.

The Utter East lost a lot of terrain east-to-west, but gained quite a bit north-to-south, so it all works out. I'm liking this version way more then the last, and Ulgarth has regained it's 'wastes' to the east. I haven't gotten this excited over a map in a very long time.
