A question that came up during a Planescape game. What happens if a vampire drinks from:

1. an aasimar or celestial
2. a tiefling or demon (e.g. succubus)

Any idea?

Why would you believe it would be different from any normal feeding?

I suspect that, beyond the taste and texture of the blood in question, it'd be no different than normal.

Perhaps a aasimar's blood has a peculiar "holy" taste to it that a vampire finds unappetizing, whereas a hezrou tanar'ri's might be quite literally foul and an alu-fiend/succubus's might be so tantalizing as to actually draw you back for more (right into her embrace. ).

Yeah, I wondered about the 'holiness' thing being maybe a bit dangerous to the vampire. And the daemonic aspect... I always thought of Vampires as being Baator-affiliated rather than Abyss-affiliated. Or am I wrong there? Just thought they might find daemonic blood repelling or even toxic...

I don't believe vampires have an affiliation to any plane in particular (apart from the normal Undead <=> Negative Energy thing), so unless the vampire in question has ties to the baatezu (immortal servant of an archdevil, for example, or the "victim" of a faustian pact using undeath to try and cheat the Lords of Nine out of his soul) or the tanar'ri (a cultist of Orcus "favored" with undeath), I think it would simply be a matter of personal preference.

One vampire might find the blood of an aasimon revolting, whereas another might delight in feeding upon the servants of the divine...

I remember from Van Richten's Guides that even animal blood causes vampires to feel ill (except bats), then maybe drinking celestial blood would have an effect of holy water, only stronger.

this came up recently in a game and I also have question, in the descriptions of a vampire it says
" SUSTAINED BY A TERRIBLE CURSE AND A THIRST FOR MORTAL BLOOD, vampires dream of a world in which they live in decadence and luxury, ruling over kingdoms of mortals who exist only to sate their darkest appetites."
so I took that to mean any creature that specifies another state (i.e. immortal )would have no benefit to a vampire or dhampyr. Am I wrong?  Thoughts anyone

In the Monster Mythology book of 2nd edition, Kanchelsis (also knowed as Mastraacht) is the god of vampires and he is on the Abyss. His layer is covered in blood.

So vampires are more Abyss aligned. After all in he day they were chaotic evil.
