The only thing I can add to this post is that I will most certainly cancel my subscription to D&DI if the game table is not released...

Speaking of new users looking for information I just went to the DDi subscription site and it's been scrubbed of any mention of a VTT.
Good for them for not leading new users astray.
Now to just rip out the last page of my Player's Handbook and it will be as if it was never promoted to the trusting masses.
Is there an application version of an unword?
I would not be surprised if future printings of the 3 books has those pages removed.

The Virtual Table is now widely accepted as vapour-ware envisioned for marketing purposes with no real software or release intended by Wizards of the Coast.
Please don't use attach a term like this to such a statement. 'widely accepted' carries the connotation that it is the opinion of a strong majority, and one needs only read the boards to see that this is not the case. This sort of thing will cause more boards disruption, which we don't need (there's something else wrong with that sentence too, but once again, there's no point continuing this useless argument, as it's not going to change anything and it's not getting anywhere).

You do realize the boards are not even close to a majority of the players, and is a relatively self selecting sample right? The plural of anecdote is not data. Now I think his statement is too far reaching as well because they in all likelihood planned to make the VTT. However I wouldn't consider the title vaporware for the product unfair.

That fits the VTT like a shoe.

OK, I would be very surprised to see the person who honestly thinks the VTT will be released even remotely close to original promised launch date. It is simply non-sensical since we're already more than a year after the launch date.
Unless Wizards have spent their time developing a time machine there is no way the VTT can be labelled as anything but 'vaporware' right now.

Unless Wizards have spent their time developing a time machine there is no way the VTT can be labelled as anything but 'vaporware' right now.
I do not disagree with this, I disagree that it was envisioned solely for marketing purposes, but that's not an objective test, so I'm not going to debate it further.

Let's look at this logically. If you're going to start programming a set of tools from the ground up to support a new game, you'll need to start from the beginning.
- You need something to reference the rules. Tada, the compendium is born.
- You need something to create and manage characters. Tada, we've got the Character Builder.
- You need things to manage characters together in a party (with journaling and mapping). They're building the Campaign tools.
- You need a way to use these tools collaboratively in order to play the game via LAN or fully online. That's your Virtual Table Top. This also includes the various other tools to import to and export from the VTT.
They didn't set a realistic goal. Hopefully they'll get caught up. I want the VTT, dang it.
