ftfy Give me a damn break. There is no effective difference in the two; if they pick up development again, then "no longer" will not apply anymore.
If you're out fixing things for people, then in fact all Trevor said was "we're not actively working on any other unreleased tools." Not "currently," not "no longer." Just "not."

Give me a damn break. There is no effective difference in the two; if they pick up development again, then "no longer" will not apply anymore. I'd argue there's a huge difference.
"No longer" implies a finality to the decision.
"Not currently" implies that they remain viable.
If I'm a new user coming to find out information, that's an important distinction.
If you're out fixing things for people, then in fact all Trevor said was "we're not actively working on any other unreleased tools." Not "currently," not "no longer." Just "not."
We're not currently doing any work on any unreleased tools except for the Campaign Tools. This means that currently no work is being done directly on the Game Table or the Visualizer. Bolded for clarity.

I missed "currently" in his later post. I stand corrected.
I don't know how much practical difference between no longer and not currently - at least for the people who are interested in it - but it's not worth further discussion. I don't know why I got so irritated; I voted the Game Table down in the survey.
Anyway, I stand corrected.

I don't know why I got so irritated; I voted the Game Table down in the survey. Blame it on the fine weather, and us being indoors and staring at glowing screens while banging on keyboards.

This is really sad to hear. The game table is very promising.

It'll come back. Sure some wanted it more than others (I voted for it) but to be true, i'm curious how the other tools will be goin' (And there are free alternatives to the VTT, even if not as awesome)

Speaking of new users looking for information I just went to the DDi subscription site and it's been scrubbed of any mention of a VTT.
Good for them for not leading new users astray.
Now to just rip out the last page of my Player's Handbook and it will be as if it was never promoted to the trusting masses.
Is there an application version of an unword?

In corporate reality there is no difference between "not currently" and "abandoned forever". Neither has any positive nor negative connotation since most companies will reserve the right to change position (any position) at any time they deem necessary.
The Virtual Table is now widely accepted as vapour-ware envisioned for marketing purposes with no real software or release intended by Wizards of the Coast. Whether this is a fair assumption or not is irrelevant as the facts remain that it was used as a marketing gimmick, it was widely advertised as being available at launch and is now abandoned.
The real cave-eat is that Wizards of the Coast was on their way to revolutionizing the roleplaying community with developer-instigated and designed tools to closely work with their own product. Coupled with a series of very high quality .PDF releases of their major books and what seemed like a genuine intention for innovation I think many came back to the once proud world of D&D gaming.
TSR was back in the day known for releasing too much with too little content and not having an idea of where they were really going along with poor management of their many franchises. This lack of focus and messages that could not always be trusted was the greatest part of why (A)D&D got thrown out of the clubs we ran. I am no longer the manager of any roleplaying clubs but I know that several of the old gamers were excited at the prospects Wizards of the Coast came up with and even my own gaming circle took up the nostalgic title. Sadly this turned out to be a poor idea since all the elements that originally was promised, mainly the Virtual Table Top and the brilliant .PDFs have now been abandoned until further notice.
It's a shame because there was potential and the idea is sound. Here's hoping another developer picks up the torch to shine the way for the modern roleplaying consumer because Wizards have fumbled.
