I'd also like to know how the unlockable content will work. If the DM is running a campaign, will the players have access to all the options available in the DM's purchased books, or only their own? I'm foreseeing some serious problems where certain players in a campaign have far more options than others simply because they've bought more books. Will the DM have to go with the "lowest common denominator" library in order to appease the players, or will all the players have access to all the books available to the group? This is, I think, one of the most pressing questions facing the project.

Much of the online content will be subscription-based, yes. Dragon and Dungeon magazine will be included in the subscription, as will access to the Character Creator, DM Tools, Game Table and other expanded functionality.

$9.95 a month, starting in 2008.

I'm not so thrilled by the idea of additional material for additional fee, but I must say that I can't wait to see what this online tabletop will look like. I'm a regular online player with my mates, and maybe there will be good ideas for us

I must say I'm very excited by this. There are no game shops anywhere near me so close to impossible for me to get a gaming group so this (like magic online) is great news. However, I'm a little worried with regards to pricing etc. The best way I think it should be done is:

1) A fixed price for the Game Table. Gives you access to the game table and X character sheets.

2) A unique code in each suppliment which, when entered, will give you access to the PRCs, feats etc online.

3) For campaign settings, either have a number of codes you can give your players or the option to buy an online reduced copy of the books which gives you information you need as a player (Classes, races) but leaves out the campaign building information. Would give people like myself who dislike DM'ing access without buying what we dont need.

I like the minimalism in the you-tube videos. It would allow me to describe a dungeon as I see fit without glaringly obvious differences.
Although it would be nice to have a customizable look (make the walls wood or marbale or whatever). Though what I really wonder about is what will wilderness and city adventures look like. Most of my players loath dungeon crawls.

I'm putting in my wishes for Linux compatibility. I've managed to get along without any Windows at all for years now, and it would be a shame to have to deal with it just to play D&D.

Do you have a reference link handy for that estimated cost? I'd pay $9.95 a month.
