power creep with each new book (sign that playtesting is becoming less and less important to them I see this all the time said by a lot of people about a lot of games. Guess what? People want power creep. They like power creep. They want incremental power for their characters, army, etc and are less concerned with balance than they are for abilities, etc for their stuff.
Balance comes in second for most gamers that I know.
Power creep has no relation to play testing. You may not like it, but personally, ever one of the people I know who game eagerly await new stuff for their characters and are dissappointed if it is just a rehash of what was done before.

Alrighty then, that'll be enough of this wish-wash. If you insist on maintaining this farce of a thread, I shall be forced to remove my self from the room. That being said, I hope I am not the only person here that has noticed the distasteful monstrocity of a whole it has become. All this voracious bickering over the pointless, I almost find it demeaning that I have allowed myself to take part in it. That being said, honestly, how many circles must one walk in before he realizes he is still where he started, just out of breath. I suppose that is fully, and irrevocabally dissended from the physical well being of the candidate. That being said, are there any more cookies? Damn it man! Stay on the droll. How should I expect, well, I suppose any way I want to. How should you expect, or any of us for that much. Honestly. That being said, I shall hereforth endeavor to include the excluded deluded in all of this threads stitching. For so long as every one so much as us, has wasted a single parlimentory proceeding, as to inquire into the ramblings of those less amused than the fortunate is utterly, and discernably ridiculous.
That being said, at this point, I believe I speak for us all, when I say,
HOGGWASH & HUMPERHORKS!

Right, because even though it's ok to admit that a new book isn't entirely necessary, a corporate entity should never try to sell their new products, even if that's their total source of revenue. Let me put it this way: I don't need a new couch right now, but I don't consider the local furniture store an evil miserly force just because they *really* push the new couch that came out this year. A suggestion: If you intend to offer counterpoint, be sure that you actually got the point in the first place.
A clarification: My point, (since you missed it completely) was that they had designed their new half-step edition change specifically to render 3.0 obsolete and 3.5 necessary while claiming they hadn't. You obviously being one of the people who bought the snakeoil-pitch, unsurprisingly didn't understand that. Your couch analogy is foolish and, like your entire post, missing the point. Now, if the local furniture store had designed your old couch specifically to fall-apart in precisely 3 years, would you then see them as an evil, miserly force? I would. What if they then turned around and said to you that, "well, if you reallly don't want a new couch, you COULD just sit on your lump of broken springs and cotton,?"
Secondly, no I don't play Warhammer. Nor was I referring to war-games. The implication I made was for RPG-errata. You might as well have said that I obviously don't shop at Target where sometimes there's a sale and sometimes not, and then you miss the sale and find out that the hairdryer you just bought for $25.99 went on sale for $20.99 the very next day.
And Dreadmage, take my word for it, you WILL be missed, as your post was the greatest example, on this entire thread of exactly what you're complaining about. Bravo!

You could have said all that without the personal attacks, thank you.

You're right. I shouldn't compare apples to oranges, except to state that they're both fruits. Oh, wait, that's what I kind of said.
You said that you never had to pay for errata, so I mentioned that you must never have played Warhammer, where that is rampant (also why I stopped playing Warhammer and related games).
My couch analogy might not have been correct. I can accept that. Think instead of car manufacturers. They design cars every year, and design them to frequently break down as soon as the warranty is up. Yet we keep buying cars, often knowing that we won't get more than ten years out of them. Where is the outrage there?
Alright, before the edition-war startrs anew, I've said my peace on that subject. Back on topic, I am absolutely of the opinion that WOTC didn't know what they were getting themselves into. We should expect better communication from the company itself, but if things are developing, and there's nothing to report, what can we expect them to report?
I would say we deserve an update, that tells us what the holdup is, and why that's holding thngs up. Then we can leave it alone until there's more news.

Trust me when i say that there are people that would love to be able to say where DDI is, what tool(s) are being worked on next and a whole bunch of stuff. However the people who have the information are not the ones that decide whether or not to say it.
Messages are being passed, and people are giving reasons why there should be more communication. However, changing corporate culture takes time. It is far better, IMO, for the person who is being convinced to be convinced that releasing the information is a good idea and do it voluntarily than be forced to release the information.

I'm totally in agreement with you. To get the info in the first place would have been great, but we'll have to take it as it comes now.

Okay, tell them that if they just come out and just say it, we promise to cover our ears and really not listen at all. We can all sing la-la-la-la-la really loud, loud enough so that we can't hear them, that way no one gets into trouble.
No. Really.
pssst. Anyone here that can read lips?
