You know, it's not the magazine that's what bugs me. Sure, you may be getting a deal on the magazine now but what about everything else? Why should I have to pay more to use their website when I'm already paying for internet? These applications have been promised to us for a while now and where are they? Oh yeah, they released these silly little useless tools that you'd probably never use. But wait, you have to pay for them too? Woah, there's a surprise, WotC has only been making us pay for EVERYTHING as far as I can remember. First we had to join their stupid DNDI website, and if you had an account already then you had to migrate it, which is equally stupid, now we have to pay them for something we've been waiting for for months? And not only these applications, but the little tools as well. I've had enough. I was goign to check out V4 but I don't think it's worth it to support a comany like this.

Thanks Wizards, I'll be here, playing V3.5 until you lose ALL your customers.

Wow I mean realy Wow I personally feel that I am one of the most vocal WOTC are Liars and Cheats Posters around and I can't agree with you here man. WOTC Is making a product they want to make a profit. There's nothing wrong with this. Are they charging more than I feel they should yes. Are they attempting to feed customers misleading information I believe so. Are they running a scam with the cancel auto renew feature Most Definitely. Did they outright Lie about release dates to sell books OMG yes. But them wanting to make a profit of of the work they do does not make them evil. If your going to Hate Hate for the right reasons man.

As far as ads go, I wouldnt mind the ads targeted to gamers - if they arent invasive.

If D&DI had a "billboard" forum, where advertisers could buy space (sorta like Craigslist.com), I would choose to visit it out of curiosity to see whats new.

The price of the magazines is about what I suspected and based on what is available for the 4thED it may seem necessary to some. I enjoyed reading them and I use the past tense because even though I have paid for my subscription to D&D Insider simply for the magazines (the generators and such is garbage, although the compendium may have merit in the future) I still cannot access the magazines. If life were truly a D & D game I would have to go and be a good adventurer and wipe out the den of thieves named WoTC and slay them for picking my pocket. Perhaps it was me being lawful stupid to think if you paid for a product you would gain access to it. Maybe one day in the future, after my subscription runs out they will allow me to access what I have paid for.

Hmmmm... I got a $60... what can I get out of the Family Reading Program... and "every dollar I spend helps support America's Students and Youth Organizations."

Quick Run Down...
Time: 61 issues for $12.50
Field and Stream: 12 issues for $11.00
Reader's Digest: 12 issues for $9.50
Car and Driver: 12 issues for $10.00
Rolling Stone: 12 issues $15.00
Totals: 109 issues for... $58.

or
Time: 61 Issues for $12.50
Wallstreet Journal: 130 papers for $45
191 50+ page periodicals...

Ummmm... this is for the little paper fairies to deliver to my door these magazines. If I was getting the paper content Dragon and Dungeon for $60... I would be amazed. Heck, for $90... I'd be willing... for paper.

Now here is the kicker: go to most of the websites and you can get some pretty full articles as well, in fact, in some cases the majority of the content... for free.

Content-wise, I think these magazines probably... maybe... put out more than D&D. So lets talk about the web-tools:

Compendium... as of right now.. not much different than the hyperlink SRD. On a sheer information level... the SRD contains more pages than D&DI does as a while.

Ability Generator... yeah... ummm ok... Its like getting a free online calculator.

Monster Builder Hmmm... I remember seeing one or two of these before... Asmor's maybe.

Encounter Builder... Again... Asmor... and a google search.

So, with $60 bucks a year, I get... tools that are available for free... about one tenth the content of PRINT magazines... and access to something that was available for free in the last edition through SRD. [It may not be fair to judge WotC on that, but life's not fair].

You calling BS on BS being called on Insider prices... is utterly BS... and foolish. Sixty dollars is no great financial committment, but there are certainly a few ways to get a more distance for your dollar.

i agree, 60$ (70$ for canucks) for some online software, which is probably pails to some fan's free time, and probably better software. and a pdf.. not worth it. At least with Paper mags we could take them to gaming and use what we need. D&DI is not for me.

Or you could follow procedure and contact them directly. Other then telling you that, I doubt telling us will help your problem.
