thanks for the clarity on the latter point, as to the other lets wait and see and make sure they don't get swept under the coloquial again

3. From what I understand, the application is subscription-based, so no matter how many extras they add on, the subscription fee will remain constant. I hope I'm right. From the reactions of a few articles, even some of the positive ones like Gamespy's, it sounds like there's actually a hope the price might even decrease, given time. I think there's almost no chance it'll go up, but it'd take over a year for it to go down, if it does.
Yours, Dave the Brave

Good points!
1. This is the strategy - to 'encourage' more people to buy the books. I know that as the DM. I will probably still be the only one to buy the books in my group, although two might buy the PH to get access to DDI, pending our acceptance of the new rule system - which is already two additional sales that they wouldn't ordinarily have.
2. Very good point. Either the secondary market will be killed outright or they will have to allow for this. I'm not sure how they will make the latter work without opening it up for abuse. I can already see the amount of complaints about people's codes having been hijacked.
3. From what I understand, the application is subscription-based, so no matter how many extras they add on, the subscription fee will remain constant. I hope I'm right. I'll admit I didn't read the whole post, but looking at the recent posts, I'm confused. I thought it's been stated that there are going to be no codes in the books because of the nightmare of manageing the system. So 1 and 2 are non issues.

I can assert that my books (preordered the 3 book set) do not have any codes - just an ad offering a free 10-day trial at dndinsider.com - which is not a working link yet (just bounces back to wizards.com)

Hmmmm I pre-ordered as well and I don't recall even getting an add for a free subscription just the books themselves.

Ah yes very subtle missed that the first time because I thought it was just a generic DnD add, thanks. Hope I don't miss out on my chance to try the visualizer because it comes active and the time runs out before I notice it.

My wishes for DDI-Character Builder:
Me and my players love the Keep on the Shadowfell Character Passes: It has everything you need during play in a very simple and easy to look at way. And it has the powers with details!
I would prefer this style of pass over the standard PHB maths-driven layout.
For DDI-Character Builder, I would love to see, that you are able to print both versions, the standard pass plus the simplified pass

Please remember that kids have evolved. We are looking at the Ipod generation, with a parents credit card attached to the MMO accounts and the ability to go to the local grociery store and buy a prepaid credit card for internet use. The box is alot larger in the credit world for this generation than it was 10 years ago when I was growing up. Bull. I'm 15, don't play an MMO(I'm not paying for a game every freaking month.), don't have a cell phone, and don't have an Ipod. The local grocery store lets you buy a prepaid card for internet use with a single game. For instance, you can buy a card that gives you points to download games on a wii. Or you can get a card that pays for a major MMO for a month. Odds are people won't stock these cards for DDI, and books, even if Wotc decides to make it.
Furthermore that nominal fee is ridiculous. They could increase the cost of magic the gathering booster packs by 1 cent, and probably cover it, judging by how much magic the gathering sells.
