WolfStar,

Have you heard anything about editing or cleaning up the magazine articles?

Not yet, though I hope to corner someone at GenCon and raise the issue that others have mentioned - most specifically about last month's issue receiving very few edits.

I don't, personally, much mind the individual articles having a few errors - I get the impression we're seeing them after less editing than a formal monthly magazine would have - because they're not being compiled for the monthly issue.

Having errors in the final monthly issue, however, doesn't bode well for WotC - at least, not in a paid product.

I don't know if the errors persist because of a lack of time, or if the authors/editors aren't receiving our feedback, but if there's anything we, the community, can do to aid the process, I'd like to find out what that is.

I agree. The errors are fine when the adventures are released, but they should fixed by the time they are compiled into an issue. They are getting direct feedback about errors in the articles from this community as the articles/adventures are released. This is something that was not possible under Paizo, so they should take advantage of it to make the magazines as good as they can be.

This runs contrary to the reasons I've heard for no longer making a print edition--their idea was that not having to deal with printers meant they would have more time to put the final polish on things, and releasing them on a per-article basis would allow them to get some beta comments (like, say, the ones in this thread, which have been largely ignored) before publishing the final PDF of the full issue.

Exactly. What's the point of digital content if you aren't going to fix the errors? What's the point in releasing each article one-by-one before the full issue unless you want us to find errors for you to fix?

A "community verified", error-free version of the magazines would make me fully embrace the new digital content. But that doesn't work without, you know, fixing the errors.

Which is why I specified that the individual ARTICLES are getting less editing, but when compiled into the final ISSUE they should be polished.

Yes, I agree. The end result needs to be as error free as possible. WotC has the benefit of much feedback, possibly more than they want. The errors need to be fixed each month.

You're assuming they are actually reading any of this feedback.

I can only hope so. It would be unwise not to review these forums for this kind of information.

If even "they" aren't reading the forums on a regular basis (not everyone can have a slack job like I do) we know that Gamer_Zer0 reports on the general musings of the forums every week.

His reports are themed across various topics (to prevent "burnout" on a topic I suspect, but also to give a "big picture" bit by bit).

As such comments - especially constructive, well-though-out comments do make it to the team at some point.

Now admittedly, nothing can glue their eyes open and force them to read the screen when G_Z's reports come across, but personal/professional curiosity ALONE should entice them to read comments about their project, especially when they're tied up with a bow and neatly delivered by G_Z (as opposed to having to muck through these forums which are a mix of constructive comments and emotional vitriol).

And if they're going to start charging for this content, they need to start addressing blatant editing/content errors, or they're going to lose customers.
