I did the same 2 as you, Im working on the 3rd one, but not getting anywhere satisfactory. The 3rd one looks like a lot of fun. Quite the challenge. I need to completely redo the first map (from Den). I did the floor after watching a tutorial. I need to completely wipe it and start over.
I'm working my way through the Dungeon Delve book too. I've done encounters 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3. I figure it's good practice I've also gotten some much better fills and some good symbols since I made those first two maps too.
Hmm...CC3 beginners guild, huh? We'd need a catchy name though

The more I think about it, the more I think the Mappers Guild is a great idea. Smaller and easier to manage than the existing ones out there, and we could help each other with techniques.

Steeljaw, is there any chance you could share with us the technique used for making the stairs effect? This is especially visible in the long staircase from Bordrin's Watch.
I've been looking around the cartographer's guild forums, but havent found anything. You can get the CC3 source files I host here: CC3 Source Link
This will help show you how I make stairs. But here is the brief explaination:
1) Create as many new SHEETS as you have stair steps (I usually name them like STAIR01 to STAIR##) 2) Add the glow outer effect to make sure the step casts a shadow over the step below it. 3) Use the floor drawing tool to make small steps and assign the step to one of the stair sheets. So I usually start at the top and work my way down and make sure each step from the top is a assigned a unique stair sheet that is ordered above the stair below the next.
I recommend checking out the CC3 source files to get a better idea of doing this. Let me know if you need a better explaination.

I see Im not the only one who's been inspired by steeljaw. We should form a Mappers guild - not like the cartographer's guild that is representative of people who actually have mapping talent, but one for us Hacks that are trying...
I did the same 2 as you, Im working on the 3rd one, but not getting anywhere satisfactory. Make no mistake I am no pro like the guys at the Cartographers Guild. I just do my best and try to improve on previous maps. I don't have tons of time to dedicate to map making for my gaming group so I try to balance how good a map looks versus how long I want to spend making a map. I'm still a newbie.

I've been messing around with CC3 and made the first two battle maps for Den of the Destroyer. I'd like for folks to tell where I can improve, but I don't know how to post them! lol...help
I have them in jpeg and CC3 drawing image. I would love to have some help making the adventure path maps. it is a lot of work for one person. If we split up the work I think it would help get the maps done much faster. I have been super busy with work, family, and house stuff (not to mention playing a few video games I have been wanting to play).
So if any of you guys are interested in splitting up the adventures to work on the maps that would be awesome. Just let me know.

If anyone needs files hosted (source files, maps, jpegs whatever) I have a 100 GB/month account with MediaFire (and the bandwidth carries over so I have 375 GB transfer available currently) of which I would happily share. Just let me know.

How much do you lack on the Lost Mines, Nick? Any particular maps you need help with or are you close to complete on those? I'm getting ready to tackle the third map in Den of the Destroyer Looks like fun I also need to completely redraw my Den first encounter, unless someone has a decent copy.

Thats great your working on Den of the Destroyer. I hope to finish Lost Mines this week. After that we can see what's next and split it up.
