Was curious why it seems archer rangers are taking Two fanged strike over Evasive strike. Maybe somebody here can tell me what I am missing.
As far as I can tell with evasive strike on a low level toon you get to use your dex + 2(W) and shift through the encounter
but with two fanged strike you get 1(w) and dex and wis on both of your attacks
So basicaly your loosing mobility for a little extra dmg? being able to shift several times to get some distance if your surrounded sounds pretty cool but if I have a gross oversight please let me know
Not quite. If you hit just once, you get hunter's quarry damage. If you have two chances to attack, you have a higher chance of getting one hit than if you have just one chance. So it's not just the extra damage that the attacks do but also the extra chance at hunter's quarry that makes two-fanged strike more effective. You do loose mobility with two fanged strike, but that really just means that you can't use it when there's an enemy adjacent unless you shift away first. Added mobility is nice, but moving around doesn't kill your foes and rangers can use another power, like nimble strike, to get out of melee and then unload the higher damage encounter power the next round. Smart Archer builds split their choices between the high mobility lower damage powers and the higher damage no added mobility powers; lots of mobility usually has diminishing returns.
