Seriously, no one has thought up of "In the name of Ioun, I will punish you"?
I was starting to wonder about that myself. But with so many pages I just hoped that someone had done it anyway. Of course you could go without modifying it at all, there are a few Moon goddesses out there after all.

I'm working on building my first avenger and while I want her to have the Power of Skill feat for the mechanical benefit, I have to admit that I'm having difficulty wrapping my head around the idea that the deities of knowledge (Ioun) and art/beauty (Corellon) would have cadres of divine assassins.
I was originally going to build an eladrin post-errata feycharger and amp up the whole "amoral fey" thing. She would be devoted to Corellon in a sort of twisted way, seeking to eliminate anything that she deemed ugly or unappreciative of art and beauty. I'm most likely going to make an elf avenger instead, so I'm not sure if that concept will still be appropriate ...
Does anyone have any good ideas for oaths for an avenger of Corellon? Something to do with art and beauty and the target needing to die for some reason related to either or both of them. LOL.

Awesome! Thanks very much. I'll definitely use those.  Even though I've been approaching this character from the mechanics first, I still want to build a credible concept around her for roleplaying purposes. I like to "get inside" my character's heads (I'm equal parts powergamer and storyteller).

That is the thread I started when I had trouble with the backstory of an Avenger of Sune. I rewrote the fluff a bit, not making my character a zealous assisin for Sune but I use my great skills mainly in self defense. Sune wants me to live and spread her word so she granted me the skills to defend myself in my travels.

My avenger is a dusk elf (Dragon 382) and a Jedi ... I mean, Serene Initiate. So she's got the whole "surrender to the divine" and "act without emotion" thing going for her. The quote that goes with the Serene Initiate fluff text says it all really (although it's not really an oath, as such): "Only when the mind is calm and the passions stilled can the divine purpose be understood. Never do I wield my sword in anger - only in necessity."
She's also a follower of both Corellon and Sehanine, so she's got a thing about art and beauty. She always strives to make killing her gods' enemies a work of art.
Here are a few of the sayings she might use when swearing her oath on her enemies:
"This sword is my paintbrush and you are my canvas."
"Rest assured: your death shall be a work of art."
"Watch carefully and you just might see something beautiful before you die."
"I take no pleasure in killing you. It is merely something I must do."
"There is no justice. There is only me."
Here are some prayers she might use before entering battle:
"Thank you, Corellon, for your guidance this night. May our arrows fly swift, may our swords strike true, and may our spells smite our foes and shield us from harm. As the Seldarine will."
"And shepherds we shall be for thee, my liege, for thee. Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to thee and teeming with souls shall it ever be."

I had an idea kind of along those lines, not really The Shining, but at any rate a bit of that feel of somebody really kind of losing it in a mordibly funny way, for an avenger of Ioun/Oghma...
"I am really, really tired of explaining the laws of reason, well, reasonably...especially to stupid who DON'T LISTEN!" ( swearing emphasized with with axe strikes as punctuation)
Not sure if that's been used before somewhere I don't remember, but I can just so easily see that...preferably with a British accent.

After due and careful consideration, I've decided that for Rhohn, my twin hammer wielding Holy Avenger, his Oath shall be:
"Draw me not without reason, use me not without Honor"
He has an Elvish connection (although pure Human on his character sheet), thanks to some background I wrote for him so, according to the only English to Elvish translater that I could find that handled the entire phrase:
"Parn ti byr shoryr Vaeryl, irari ti byr shoryr Cylys!"
He is of course, referring to himself as the weapon of his chosen Deity, and only asks that he be used in the manner prescribed in the Oath...
