I'm going to resurrect this thread because I think it's a great companion to the "What do you think..." thread. When my last laptop died (cracked screen and a nasty worm) I lost my copy of Painst Shop Pro. While I loved the dumb downed directions, I've been learning GIMP on my new laptop. This is the image I wanted to use for Rhytin, my gnome (I love them so) swordmage. He's a vaguely "Norse" character, whose from a feywild warren called Tototalvi or "EverFrozen"9naturally, frost cheese was a must). He weilded a frost pick he inherited from his father. I needed the pick, it was a necessity! Almost everything else about this image was perfect! I did also fix his sideburns, and his eyes, but those were minor details. lookie here

So, after nearly two hours tinkering in GIMP (I'm rusty, all right?) I finaally came out with this! Rhytin, my pick weilding, protective, Norse, gnomish "sword"mage: lookie here

Nothing to fancy here. I started with this one from the internet : From there, I used this Pelor Symbol : Then I removed the shield (for I aimed at Ardent Paladin and for the blade is long enough to consider a Greatsword), increased luminosity and contrast to get a more shiny/sunny style, and added the Pelor Symbol as a Halo Behind his head: Finally, I decided that he looked too old for the job. Hence I darkened his hair and eyebrows, and to complement, made his eyes blue and replaced his purposeful pout into a soothing and friendly smile : I hereby baptize this character : Justiciar Thierry the Bold (translated from Justicier Thierry le Hardi) Please do leave constructive comments and response. My thanks to Puly for the original which inspired me greatly.

For my fey-pact human warlock Seneschal Morning Breeze (her adopted mother, the Seneschal's wife was a bit empty-headed), I used a picture of my favorite model Sabina Karlsson from a Martin Grant fashion show (I had originally discovered her when I was looking for a model of the protagonist of my YA time-travel story and in her Ford Modeling agency shots she was exactly the image I had in mind without even knowing she existed... it was really eerie how she was exactly what I saw in my mind). I googled a medieval dress that would match her body position and added glow to make her look more ethereal and fey-like. I had to change her hair a little to fill in the space where the original collar covered it. This composite was made using paint.NET. + =

Hi, im very noob in Photoshop, but tried to do something. Used this image as base: Used this guy face: Added a beard and a mustache, and some background. Result: I didn't know how to blend the character and the background better than this, so it looks kind of weird. This character is a Wizard that im playing, future Arcane Wayfarer. I would use some portal as background but the one's I liked had another person on the pic, and I wouldn't know how to errase it without creating a very bad result, then I went with this. If anyone could try to make this chacter better, I would appreciate.

Well, I know it's been a while since someone last posted here, but I saw the topic and I wanted to share some images. My boyfriend asked for my help doing a sword for his character, then I started some experiences.. I started with this sword image, from the cover of the adventure Demon Queen's Enclave. Spoiler:

then I used this image here as a base for that texture To the sword my boyfriend asked, I got this. I took this image for his fighter. and added his sword

Im very impressed with all of the photoshop work being done here and like Petrafrey (btw great job!) says no one has posted here for a while but i wanted somebody to see my attempt(s). This is not actually an individual portrait but me and another friend who comprised the other half of our two person party. I used as the base images (at least for the characters themselves) images from Anima beyond fantasy like many people her Cleaned up Modify a few things Decided against the cape Now to my friend pat's character modify a lil a lil more now for a little background we were trying out a new roleplaying system called wild talents which we ultimately decidede was flawed but we had very thematic abilities- I played Darkstar (the dm wanted us to choose catchy iconic names, the other player was Dragonshift, and we often met npc's named things like sunlord or windancer) my character uses galactic magic in a variety of ways but mostly he was what u call a combat mage. Dragonshift was a mage who crafted illusions (always dragons) and in this setting illusions were partially real and could kill if needed. So long story short i thought i should incorporate that into his portrait. clean it up make it look illusion-y i also found some tattoo images online that would add a bit of "pop" to our character titles so without furthur ado the final image(btw i dont remember where i got the base wings for Darkstar sorry) -

Well, the inspiration for the character i'm currently using came from a year or two old drawing i did out of boredom at work. He's kinda of a Dark Knight, he his host of a Deamonic being, giving him powers beyond what he imagined. The bound is represented with the "Astral" or "Soul chains". Here its what happens when they merge their powers and unleash the "Dark Armor", apower inherent to the Dark Knights. His left arm is in fact a permanent manifastation of the Dark Armor power, indeed when a Dark Knight makes a pact, he must sacrifice something to seal the pact, the body part sacrificed is then replaced with a manifestation of the Deamon's power. So when i finnaly took on me to begin DnD with my friends i decided to take this character and play it. So i took a Hexblade. To Do this i used the commonly used dark warrior; Had to change a few things first. Take out the blade, rework the form of the cape, so that it looks more like a coat, erase his hand and replace it. Used this arm from a GW concepte sketch to replace his natural arm. For the Infernal Patron of my Pact i used this picture from the Nalach Deamon from Andreas miniatures, wich by the way is a superb model! I flatend her chest thought, my Patron his a male, and used a heavy chunk of blur and trails effects to make him look unsubstantial and changed the colors hue to make it look more astral or spectral. I used this concept sketch for the mask, second character, it comes from a Korean game of some sort. The aura effect around the pact blade comes from an old wallpaper from the LoK Defiance game. And the Pact blade itself comes from the Adventure World Wikidatabase. Mix all of it and you get... Tada!!! Quit a lot of work, and redone has been made to come to this. And thats my first real conclusive work that i've done in photoshopping/Gimpping.
