I'd say this character is a ranger who has spent most of his life wandering. He eventually takes the path of the Horizon Walker and later the Dark Wanderer. He has spent his entire life on the move after taking an innocent persons life. He is haunted by guilt and fear for what he's done, despite the fact that he keeps kiling as he travels. He carries a message that the person he killed gave to him, but has been afraid to read it all these years. He earnestly believes that he will never find peace. He has defined his life around the blood he sees on his hands and believes he deserves to be punished unto eternity. Reading that message may give him some closure, and the world has long since forgiven him, but he can't forgive himself. And now for something completely different! You Can't Stop The Beat]
This makes me think of a two halfing bards that have taken to freedom fighting and inciting rebelion in a kingdom ruled by an evil tyrant. When the young lovers enjoyed limited success stirring the people, the tyrant sought to expose and destroy them by banning any sort of music within the realm. Unfortunately for him, this had the opposite effect he intended as thousands joined the cause in rebellion.

I'm imagining an adventurer who recently ingested a powerful hallucinogenic substance, trying to gain a vision of the future but was unable to piece it out. This song is a recording of what he began to call out as the vision twisted and transformed in his mind, most thought he was crazy. The truth was a bit more complicated, the substance he ingested also opened up his mind to possession by a twisted being of the far realm, he will be transformed into the 'Iron Parasite' a creature that will lead a horde of ravening monsters to devour and scour this world of all life and hope.
