I saw this thread on another forum and thought it would be cute. The way it works is, someone posts a song (and YouTube link if possible, especially if the song is obscure), and the next poster responds with a character type that fits the song, and a short 1-2 sentence explanation why, then he posts a song of his own. This was a lot of fun, because some characters are inspired by songs for some people. I know I got the idea for a Hexblade I played from hearing Turn the Page (Bob Seger's version) on the way home from work. Merits can be anything - the lyrics, even the feel of the song. Example: Someone might post: Led Zepplin, Stairway to Heaven Second Post might be: Gnome Cleric of Garl Glittergold. What other priest would actually want to buy a stairway to heaven? Listening to the song, I kind of got an image of a guy with sunglasses riding a motocycle. Of course, motorcycles aren't very common in most campaigns, so...Personality-wise, I would think of a wild berserker-type, who always acted really cool and shoots off witty one-liners all the time in mid-battle. A Human Barbarian or Great Weapon Fighter...whenever I try to think of a name I suddenly think of Kamina from Gurren Langan and start laughing at his ridiculous glasses. This song has a very tranquil, happy feel. It reminds me of Howard Shore's "Concerning Hobbits" from the Lord of the Rings Soundtrack. I imagine some sort of pleasant naturey type person, such as a cleric of Melora or maybe a Good druid or ranger. Very rustic feeling and pleasant. Ok, never heard that song before, but It immediately got me thinking classical music, so high intelligence so wizard maybe. But the hokey synthesized music made me think bad thoughts. I would go with an Artificer who carries a mechanical harp as an implement or something like that. I would also stat him out with Dex as a low stat. kinda clumsy.
