This one is tough. I am working on a character right now in my mind. Has everyone else been stumped, or is everyone giving up on this thread? LOL
My Humps - Fergie: this song is about a well endowed female rogue, probably human. She uses her natural charms to live off guys around her, and leads a ring of smugglers that deal in clothing (recycling all the extra stuff guys buy her). She is both nimble and charismatic, which makes a nice Artful Dodger package.
Next one is In and Above Men - Moonspell
Can't you see what you have wrought here? Bloody battles will be fought here May the mountains rise against you May the forests block your path May your axes chip and shatter And know it is my Wrath I would mount your heads on the bloody spears Outside your palace gates And watch as crows peck out your eyes And your cities are laid to waste Can't you see what you have wrought here? A curse on you and all your kin Bloody battles will be fought here Await your doom at empire's end May the wivers rush to drown you Nay the earth swallow your hosts May the winter's wolves surround you And rip the life from your throats
Okay this is about an Earthstrength Goliath Warden. He is fed up with his clan being held down and is preparing his people for a bloody war that is to be fought! He is brutal and has no qualms about making a show of it!
So my song is One way out by The Allman Brothers.
I imagine a tiefling bard, he's in bed with a woman of import, but also who has a bit of a..reputation. He has developed feelings for her but also knows how foolish it is to do so, as she's cheat on him as easily as she cheats on whoever she professes to give her heart fully to.
My next choice is Trailblazers, by Hammerfall
Big gorilla at the L.A. Zoo
Snatched the glasses right off my face Took the keys to my BMW Left me here to take his place I wish the ape a lot of success I'm sorry my apartment's a mess Most of all, I'm sorry if I made you blue I'm betting the gorilla will too They say Jesus will find you wherever you go But when He'll come looking for you, they don't know In the meantime keep your profile low Gorilla, you're a desperado He built a house on an acre of land He called it Villa Gorilla Now I hear he's getting divorced Laying low at L'Ermitage, of course Then the ape grew very depressed Went through transactional analysis He plays racquetball and runs in the rain Still he's shackled to a platinum chain Big gorilla at the L.A. Zoo Snatched the glasses right off my face Took the keys to my BMW Left me here to take his place
Zousha nice pick, can't get enough of Warren Zevon!:D
Okay so this is about a Battle Rager Half-Orc Fighter. He is shackled to the chains of his path. He has tried to break free but they keep coming back to haunt him. He thought becoming a Mercenary would be his way out, but this has only brought on more problems. There is no way to run from the past, realizing he must face it he becomes depressed. Okay now for my favorite Led Zeppelin song-Over The Hills And Far Away
((side note, you sent us to Allman brothers))
An older adventurer, he's been all over the world traveling in times of war and peace, he's sought elusive wealth, sought adventure, and some glory. Though it also helped to slake his wanderlust, to see the world and all of creation during his lifetime. He retired, marrying a member of his old group, she only came to know him after some rather dark event, something he never speaks of but seems to haunt him. Something has now happened, maybe related to whatever has sent the hounds of hell baying through his mind, and he's asking her to take one last trip with him. My pick Okay now forCan I play with Madness by Iron Maiden (oops)
Fixed the link ArchAngel and BTW Led Zeppelin did "Can I play With Madness By Iron Maiden"? Just kidding ! :D I love this Maiden song too!
This song is about a Human Chaos Sorcerer inquiring of his future with the clan seer! The Sorcerer is cocky and feels he can control his future through his powers, but the Seer knows the truth all too well. The Sorcerer refuses to hear the truth and ends his life insane, wandering the countryside! Okay how about Ozzy Osbourne Shot in The Dark
No offense fenrir7139, but you need to describe a character based on the song preceding yours before you post your own. Those are the rules for this thread.
What I imagine is a human who managed to find, by random luck or malign direction a blade infused with an infernal being. The blade is subtle, guiding and directing him, granting him great prowess and skill in battle, feeding his body and spirit. Simultaneously the wielder wants to throw the blade away, realizing with growing horror the hold that the blade has on him. But he cannot bring himself to do it, the power of the blade is addictive and he also has realized that in many ways the blade commands him. He seeks only rest and peace, wishing that he could cast the blade aside but knowing with each passing day that he serves the blade at his side.
For my next pick Hammerfall: Natural high
The northern winds
Of baneful colds Forever night Of northern lights In the Elder Days Morgoth's realm in Northern Waste Great threat to Arda's child The War of Wrath is to become Centuries of forlorn fight Last hope, the aid divine Guardian of the world Gods of justice and light Came and defeated the one The master of disharmony All ablaze by the glory of their arms Swell of the trumpets filled the sky Morgoth banished from the Middle-earth His reign, never shall rise again In the Elder Days Morgoth's realm in Northern Waste Only ruin from the ancient times By the battle of the Gods
Hayley Westenra: Dark Waltz- This is an Eladrin Wizard l Bard who seeks to achieve enlightenment through the art of dance. This song represents her offer to all of her companions-to dance with her and destiny, help her achieve her ascension into what she calls "the light" and to stay with her always, even through the darkest nights. She has a flair for the dramatic and often calls the dangerous adventures her company goes on as "starting the Dark Waltz".
Beautiful song by the way-very haunting and Fey. Wake Up Call- Maroon 5 Lyrics Show [Verse] I didn't hear what you were saying. I live on raw emotion baby I answer questions never maybe And I'm not kind if you betray me. So who the hell are you to say we Never would have made it babe. [Bridge] If you needed love Well then ask for love Could have given love Now I’m taking love And it’s not my fault Cause you both deserve What is coming now So don’t say a word [Chorus] Wake up call Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed Don't you care about me anymore? Don’t you care about me? I don't think so. Six foot tall Came without a warning so I had to shoot him dead He won't come around here anymore Come around here? I don't think so. [Breakdown] Would have bled to make you happy You didn't need to treat me that way And now you beat me at my own game And now I find you sleeping soundly And your lovers screaming loudly Hear a sound and hit the ground [Bridge] If you needed love Well then ask for love Could have given love Now I’m taking love And it’s not my fault Cause you both deserve What’s coming now So don’t say a word [Chorus] Wake up call Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed Don't you care about me anymore? Don’t you care about me? I don't think so. Six foot tall Came without a warning so I had to shoot him dead He won't come around here anymore Come around here? I don’t feel so bad, I don’t feel so bad, I don’t feel so bad [Breakdown] I'm so sorry darling Did I do the wrong thing? Oh, what was I thinking? Is his heart still beating? Woah oh ohh [Chorus] Wake up call Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed Don't you care about me anymore? Don’t you care about me? I don't think so. Six foot tall Came without a warning so I had to shoot him dead He won't come around here anymore Come around here anymore? I don’t feel so bad Wake up call Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed Don’t you care about me anymore? Don’t you care about me? I don’t think so. Six foot tall Came without a warning so I had to shoot him dead He won’t come around here anymore No, he won’t come around here. I don’t feel so bad I don’t feel so bad (Wake up call) I don’t feel so bad (Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed) I don’t feel so bad (Don’t you care about me anymore?) Care about me? I don’t feel so bad. Wake up call Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed Don't you care about me anymore?
This character is a barbarian who stands at six feet tall. He has a fierce temper, especially because when he found out that his betrothed had slept with other men in the tribe. In his anger and his shame, he decided to kill each one of these other lovers. After the deed was done, he felt that justice had been done, but his tribe could not excuse this horrendous act, and thus he was exiled. He bears no ill will towards his tribe, for they didn't know, and they were just doing what the spirits' law demanded. His feelings toward his fiancee are slightly different. While he feels betrayed, he's more hurt by her than angry. He's seeking work as an adventurer because he feels killing is all he'll ever be able to do, and maybe the killing will make him forget the terrible sadness he feels at his fiancee's betrayal.
The Night Pat Murphy Died - Great Big Sea Lyrics Show Oh, the night that Paddy Murphy died, is a night I'll never forget,
Some of the boys got loaded drunk and they ain't got sober yet! As long as a bottle was passed around every man was feeling gay, O'Leary came with the bagpipes some music for to play! That's how they showed their respect for Paddy Murphy, That's how they showed their honour and their pride, They said it was, "a sin" and "a shame" they winked at one and another, And every drink in the place was full the night Pat Murphy died! As Missus Murphy sat in the corner pourin' out her grief, Kelly and his gang came tearin' down the street, They went into an empty room and a bottle of whiskey stole, They put that bottle with the corpse to keep that whiskey cold! That's how they showed their respect for Paddy Murphy, That's how they showed their honour and their pride, They said it was, "a sin" and "a shame" they winked at one and another, And every drink in the place was full the night Pat Murphy died! Well, two o'clock in the mornin' after emptyin' the jug, Doyle rose up the icebox lid to see poor Paddy's mug, They stopped the clock so Missus Murphy couldn't tell the time, And at a quarter after two we argued it was nine! That's how they show their respect for Paddy Murphy, That's how we show our honour and our pride, They said it was, "a sin" and "a shame" they winked at one and another, And every drink in the place was full the night Pat Murphy died! Well, they stopped the hearse on George Street outside some damn saloon, They all went in at half past eight and staggered out at noon, The went up to the graveyard so holy and sublime, Found out when they'd got there they'd left the corpse behind! That's how they showed their respect for Paddy Murphy, That's how they showed their honour and their pride, They said it was, "a sin" and "a shame" we winked at one and another, And every drink in the place was full the night Pat Murphy died! Oh, the night that Paddy Murphy died, is a night I'll never forget, Some of the boys got loaded drunk and they ain't been sober yet! As long as a bottle was passed around every man was feeling gay, O'Leary came with bagpipes some music for to play! That's how they showed their respect for Paddy Murphy, That's how they showed their honour and their pride, They said it was, "a sin" and "a shame" we winked at one and another, And every drink in the place was full the night Pat Murphy died! Well, every drink in the place was full the night Pat Murphy died!
I actually imagine a Bard singing about the funeral of another member of their adventuring company. The funeral they ran for a friend got crashed by a few locals, and also had a few...incidents during said funeral. Their company was a rough and tumble group, and they also worked to stall things as long and possible to ensure that their comrade could be ressurected without his wife knowing, allowing him to return to adventuring and finally pursuing his dreamed life of debauchery.
Finnegans Wake by Dropkick Murphys
finagins wake is about a drunken halfling fighter who was generally a nice guy
the theme to the “a-team”
A cocky, wise cracking mercenary, probably a Halfling Rogue. To maximize his destructive potential, he'd be a Brutal Scoundrel, and he'd be sure to carry several alchemical bombs.
A veteran of some foreign war, he's turned to fighting as the only profession he knows. He's extremely skilled, but also hard to find, given the nature of his profession, and his skills as a thief. And his name is Mini-T. Tomahawk - "Omaha Dance"
I'll buy you six bay mares to put in your stable
Six golden apples bought with my pay. I am the first piper who calls the sweet tune, But I must be gone by the seventh day. So come on, I'm the whistler. I have a fife and a drum to play. Get ready for the whistler. I whistle along on the seventh day Whistle along on the seventh day. All kinds of sadness I've left behind me. Many's the day when I have done wrong. But I'll be yours for ever and ever. Climb in the saddle and whistle along. So come on, I'm the whistler. I have a fife and a drum to play. Get ready for the whistler. I whistle along on the seventh day Whistle along on the seventh day. Deep red are the sun-sets in mystical places. Black are the nights on summer-day sands. Well find the speck of truth in each riddle. Hold the first grain of love in our hands. So come on, I'm the whistler. I have a fife and a drum to play. Get ready for the whistler. I whistle along on the seventh day SO COME ON, I'm the whistler. I have a fife and a drum to play. Get ready for the whistler. I whistle along on the seventh day Whistle along on the seventh day.
This is the next century
Where the Universal's free You can find it anywhere Yes, the future's been sold Every night we're gone And to karaoke songs How we like to sing along 'Though the words are wrong It really, really, really could happen Yes, it really, really, really could happen When the days they seem to fall through you Well, just let them go No-one here is alone Satellite's in every home Yes, the Universal's here Here for everyone Every paper that you read Says tomorrow's your lucky day Well, here's your lucky day It really, really, really could happen Yes, it really, really, really could happen If the days they seem to fall through you Well, just let them go
This character is a jovial gnome. Despite the typical gnomish love of green and growing things, this gnome is more happy during the chilly season of winter. He enjoys how the winter season, especially the holiday of Yule, when the Solstice Bells ring, bring people together and for at least a night or so, the world is peaceful and everyone stops fighting to eat, drink and have fun. He's on his way to becoming a Winter Sovereign, but rather than being a cold-hearted servant of the Prince of Winter, he takes on a "Father Christmas" like role, giving anonymous gifts to good people.
(No offense, Abraham, but aren't Christmas songs a tad too specific for an exercise like this? There's only so many characters you can make that exemplify the Christmas spirit before they start looking similar.) Mohammed's Radio - Warren Zevon Lyrics Show Everybody's restless and they've got no place to go
Someone's always trying to tell them Something they already know So their anger and resentment flow But don't it make you want to rock and roll All night long Mohammed's Radio I heard somebody singing sweet and soulful On the radio, Mohammed's Radio You know, the Sheriff's got his problems too He will surely take them out on you In walked the village idiot and his face was all aglow He's been up all night listening to Mohammed's Radio Don't it make you want to rock and roll All night long Mohammed's Radio I heard somebody singing sweet and soulful On the radio, Mohammed's Radio Everybody's desperate trying to make ends meet Work all day, still can't pay the price of gasoline and meat Alas, their lives are incomplete Don't it make you want to rock and roll All night long Mohammed's Radio I heard somebody singing sweet and soulful On the radio, Mohammed's Radio You've been up all night listening for his drum Hoping that the righteous might just might just might just come I heard the General whisper to his aide-de-camp "Be watchful for Mohammed's lamp" Don't it make you want to rock and roll All night long Mohammed's Radio
This Character is a human cleric of Ilmater, he is very spiritual and dresses in a sackcloth priest's robe he is very devout and gives most of his gold to help the less fortunate. He wants to spread the faith in Ilmater especially amon the poor and oppressed, he took a level in bard to help him spread the message by singing, his music is quite dreary but, it has found a home among the poor and oppressed. He walks to the ends of the earth spreading the word of his faith and trying to lessen the suffering of others.
And now because I get to pick one Disturbia - Rihanna
One day I walked the road and crossed a field
To go by where the hounds ran hard. And on the master raced: behind the hunters chased To where the path was barred. One fine young ladys horse refused the fence to clear. I unlocked the gate but she did wait until the pack had disappeared. Crop handle carved in bone; Sat high upon a throne of finest english leather. The queen of all the pack, This joker raised his hat and talked about the weather. All should be warned about this high born hunting girl. She took this simple mans downfall in hand; I raised the flag that she unfurled. Boot leather flashing and spurnecks the size of my thumb. This highborn hunter had tastes as strange as they come. Unbridled passion: I took the bit in my teeth. Her standing over --- me on my knees underneath. My lady, be discrete. I must get to my feet and go back to the farm. Whilst I appreciate you are no deviate, I might come to some harm. Im not inclined to acts refined, if thats how it goes. Oh, high born hunting girl, Im just a normal low born so and so.
Obviously a healer. But the style makes me think of a maul-wielding Goliath. The CharOp in me can't bear to suggest a Goliath Cleric, so...
Goliath Warlord, MC Cleric: Knowing he's the guy fixing you up makes you ever the more careful in battle. Mo Ghile Mear - The Chieftans http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auSa0YfkxFE
The song tells the story of a great Tiefling fighter. He wielded a blade that was said to be made of pure fire, he led a company of heroes. He was always known to be the first to the field and fighting against great odds, and the last to run.
Head Like a Hole; Nine Inch Nails
The vibe that I get from this particular song is a cleric who is part of a religion that turns out, little by little, to be a Path of Inspiration that serves a very greedy and evil god or demon that wants to take everything away from its followers. The cleric in question is fed up with this and decides to rebel against the religion.
Jethro Tull - Heavy Horses
A new age dawns before my eyes, I can feel the ars divine
With the sun above we'll build our holy land What a sight to see a future yet to come Now we become as one with the feeling of heaven A better age will surely rise, forget the pain, embrace the light "The sacred gift of innocence" Darkness is down, alive we stand, Gods' children come redeem your holy land What a sight to see a future yet to come Now we become as one with the feeling of heaven A better age will surely rise, forget the pain, embrace the light "The sacred gift of innocence" Darkness is down, alive we stand, Gods' children come redeem your holy land Now we are close to a new world coming, blessed be the light in our souls No more we'll follow the blind "And His lies won't be heard" We'll be the masters of our lives Now we are close to a new world coming, blessed be the light in our souls No more we'll follow the blind "And His lies won't be heard" We'll be the masters of our lives Beyond the crystal gates under the sun will rise. Enlighten our time Usher a better time. The future is thine A better age will surely rise, forget the pain, embrace the light "The sacred gift of innocence" Darkness is down, alive we stand, Gods' children come redeem your holy land Now we are close to a new world coming, blessed be the light in our souls No more we'll follow the blind "And His lies won't be heard" We'll be the masters of our lives On this day, we will fly away like an eagle soars to another shore We are flying high on the events tide. Blessed be the one who guides us Higher, take me higher The dreams sent by the gods live forever now forever more
A bard chronicling the path of his adventuring band, near the end of their grand path. They have battled for what feels like six lifetimes to overthrow an infernal tyrant that held the world in thrall. Their battles had been bloody and full of despair, they lost many battles and saw those they had called friends or brothers fall along the way. Now though, they stand in victory, the tyrant has been beaten, the world now free of the shackles and the faith of the people in what is good and righteous has returned. They usher in a new age of light, life and hope.
The Dragon Lies Bleeding - By Hammerfall
When the lights go down you feel it come alive
Driven by the dread of love that never passes by When the night unfolds a veil across the day Waiting for the flood to come to wash the stains away Look at the clouded sky Poisoned rain, angels cry Cracks show in the seal Tonight a thousand angels fall Heaven's up against the wall Changes holding sway We can make you anyone By the morning we'll be gone The ministry of saints You're afraid to disappear beneath the waves Bread and circus, bread and wine They rain on your parade Round and round and round You're spinning like a wheel Crying for redemption you break the seventh seal We're cleansing your soul from sin Plead for you, angels sing We're taking pride of place Tonight a thousand angels fall Heaven's up against the wall And change is holding sway We can make you anyone By the morning we'll be gone The ministry of saints Tonight a thousand angels fall Heaven's up against the wall And change is holding sway We can make you anyone By the morning we'll be gone The ministry of saints
Sheesh, did people seriously loose interest in this or something?
Thunderkiss '65. Might work for a droid in Star Wars.
You misunderstand. The rules of this thread are to take the song the previous poster provided and make up a character concept based on it, and then to provide a song for the next poster to work with.
Hoooooo boy. The Lords of Acid. God that group is creepy!
This character is a sorcerer, who becomes a Demonskin Adept at paragon levels. Unlike most adepts of his kind, who steal their power from the Abyss, he willingly serves demons and is obsessed with them. His powers manifested when he heard a demonic song in his head and was led to a beautiful demon princess that drove him wild. After six nights of horribly violent and perverted actions that are too graphic to mention here, he made a deal with his new Abyssal mistress. He sees her image wherever he goes and when no one else in the party is looking indulges his demonic fetish. Whispers in the Dark - Skillet Lyrics Show Despite the lies that you're making
Your love is mine for the taking My love is just waiting To turn your tears to roses Despite the lies that you're making Your love is mine for the taking My love is just waiting To turn your tears to roses I will be the one that's gonna hold you I will be the one that you run to My love is a burning, consuming fire No, you'll never be alone When darkness comes I'll light the night with stars Hear my whispers in the dark No, you'll never be alone When darkness comes you know I'm never far Hear the whispers in the dark Whispers in the dark You feel so lonely and ragged You lay there broken and naked My love is just waiting To clothe you in crimson roses I will be the one that's gonna find you I will be the one that's gonna guide you My love is a burning, consuming fire No, you'll never be alone When darkness comes I'll light the night with stars Hear my whispers in the dark No, you'll never be alone When darkness comes you know I'm never far Hear the whispers in the dark No, you'll never be alone When darkness comes I'll light the night with stars Hear the whispers in the dark No, you'll never be alone When darkness comes you know I'm never far Hear the whispers in the dark Whispers in the dark Whispers in the dark Whispers in the dark
I would make that a male Fire Dragon-soul Shadar-kai that is desperately in love with a girl who abandoned him to fight a battle she could not possibly win. She is now lost and he's on a mission to save her
starfire sounds like a dragonborn fighter with a weird radiation breath weapon
this is halloween-nightmare before christmas
Abraham doesn't have access to YouTube. His suggestions are usually based on the name of the song and the name of the band.
I've just had mine responded to, so it'd be in bad taste to respond so soon, but I'll throw a response in. DragonForce is an old favorite of mine after all.
This character is a half-elf paladin of Corellon, descended from a line of seven mighty feylords. He made a pact with the spirits of these feylords, giving him the powers of a vestige pact warlock. Guided by the spirits of his ancestors and the grace of Corellon, mighty lord of the stars, he uncovers mysteries and fights threats to the Feywild, culminating in becoming a Feylord himself and joining the Many-Starred Court as a representative of Corellon himself. Sons of Odin - Manowar Lyrics Show Here to the blaze
I wander Through this black night I ponder The edge of our mighty swords Did clash Fallen by our axes Helmets smashed Glory and fame Blood is our name Souls full of thunder Hearts of steel Killers of men Of warriors friend Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers To the end... One day too I may fall I will enter Odin's Hall I will die sword in hand My name and my deeds will Scorch the land Glory and fame! Blood is our name.. Soul full of thunder!! Hearts of steel Killers of men! Of warriors friend Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers Sons of the gods today we shall die Open Valhalla's door Let the battle begin with swords in the wind Hail Gods of War [Solo] Sons of Odin we four..!! By the hammer of Thor! Ride down from the sky.... Another is born Another shall fall This day men will die!!!! Glory and fame Blood is our name Souls full of thunder Hearts of steel Killers of men Of warriors friend Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers Sons of the gods today we shall die Open Valhalla's door Let the battle begin with swords in the wind Hail Gods of War Sons of the gods today we shall die Open Valhalla's door Let the battle begin with swords in the wind Hail Gods of War Let the battle begin with swords in the wind Hail Gods of War!!! ...Onward into the heart of battle Fought the sons of Odin Outnumbered many times Still they fought on Blood poured fourth from their wounds Deep into the earth Vultures waited for the broken shells That once were bodies But Odin alone would choose the day They would enter Valhalla And in their hour of need He sent forth unto them The Berserker Rage Now gods and men They rose up from the ground Screaming like wild animals Such is the gift of absolute power No blade or weapon would harm them They killed them and horses alike And all who stood before them died that day Hail Gods Of War!!!!!
I didn't so much lose interest in the game itself as I lost interest in playing it while another person is replying to it with silly/nonsensical replies.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with humor in D&D or silly threads in general. But when I spend a fair amount of time coming up with a paragraph's worth of description for someone else's song and then my own request is met with a one-line race/class combo that's only vaguely related to the song's title and a request for a character based on a song from a Disney movie or Weird Al's "Hardware Store"... it tends to feel a bit like a slap in the face, y'know? And I don't buy the "can't access YouTube" excuse, either. Even if you can't listen to it there, you could always google the lyrics. It just strikes me as lazy and insulting to the other players who've actually put some time and effort into their replies and expect the same back.
I'd say this character is a ranger who has spent most of his life wandering. He eventually takes the path of the Horizon Walker and later the Dark Wanderer. He has spent his entire life on the move after taking an innocent persons life. He is haunted by guilt and fear for what he's done, despite the fact that he keeps kiling as he travels. He carries a message that the person he killed gave to him, but has been afraid to read it all these years. He earnestly believes that he will never find peace. He has defined his life around the blood he sees on his hands and believes he deserves to be punished unto eternity. Reading that message may give him some closure, and the world has long since forgiven him, but he can't forgive himself.

I'm imagining an adventurer who recently ingested a powerful hallucinogenic substance, trying to gain a vision of the future but was unable to piece it out. This song is a recording of what he began to call out as the vision twisted and transformed in his mind, most thought he was crazy. The truth was a bit more complicated, the substance he ingested also opened up his mind to possession by a twisted being of the far realm, he will be transformed into the 'Iron Parasite' a creature that will lead a horde of ravening monsters to devour and scour this world of all life and hope.
For my next choice, Alice Coopers Brutal Planet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DA3OWll_Das
A tiefling infernal warlock. No motives, no scars, no trauma. He just wants to watch the world burn.
Here's the song I picked. It's evil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynjIoymWHvU
Indestructible- Disturbed
Brendan, A Halfling Great Weapon warrior with an 8 Strength who has been charged by the town council as the official rat killer for all the residents. The town has become completely overrun by rodents in result of an infernal curse. Now Brendan must head to the next basement. Penny on the Train Tracks by Ben Kweller
I'd say you're right about him being a multiclassed bard/wizard, specializing in psychic damage and controlling his opponents. He is obsessed with performance and art, delights in manipulating adventurers into performing twisted plays or shows for his amusement, executing them if they make mistakes or bore him. His mental instability, however, means this happens a lot. Any adventurers that have attempted to bring this madcap master of ceremonies to poetic justice have met with failure.
And now for something completely different! Waiting For Our Time - Styx Lyrics Show Looking up from where I stand
I see the vapor trail Of a jet plane in the sky Here the wheel is in my hand But there's no wind in my sails And life is drifting by Still I hold on and wait I know its not too late And my breeze will come Muse you satisfy my soul Keep me warm while the Cold world guards the gate I'm searching I'm wondering I'm yearning Waiting for our time to come I'm searching I'm wondering I'm yearning Waiting for our time to come Your love has kept my dream alive A vision of my life With you here by my side Every forward step I take Every moment I'm awake I feel your love inside So close I feel it in my bones I know I'm not alone as I climb this wall But I, sometimes I get so high I just want to live, love And taste it all I'm searching I'm wondering I'm yearning Waiting for our time to come I'm searching I'm wondering I'm yearning Waiting for our time to come Here tonight I lie awake and watch you dream Under the light of the moon I wonder just how far we've been And where we'll be When the sun comes up Will this be our date with destiny? I'm searching I'm wondering I'm yearning Waiting for our time to come I'm searching I'm wondering I'm yearning Waiting for our time to come And I'm waiting
Tiefling who just became an adventurer and turning his life around.
Keeping in line with the Villain Song, animated or not, here's Hellfire. Heck, Judge Frollo is pretty much an Eberron BBEG already. EDIT: Or a Raveloft darklord-in-the-making. You could argue that the cloaked demons are the Dark Powers mocking his hypocrisy, and the shadows at the end of the clip being the Mists gathering in preparation for his Act Of Ultimate Darkness and following one way trip to Ironic Hell. I'd have to agree with you. The faith of the Silver Flame seems very likely to produce characters like these, struggling with their faith and their human desires. Since this thread's had little activity for a while, here's a new song to get the ball rolling again. The Scythe - Elvenking www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pUb7LGUyPg On this night of Nights, She's coming my way DAMN IT ALL HOW DO YOU PUT SPOILERBLOCKS IN THIS NEW FORMAT?! This is pretty much what comes to mind when I listened to and read the lyrics of The Scythe - Elvenking, I hope it's alright:
Shadar-kai Avenger who serves the Raven Queen. She wields a scythe more for symbolism than utility purposes, bestowed upon her either as a gift from her Goddess or for completing her training. She vanquished the Queen’s foes wherever she came across them, whether the meetings were her intent or by merely happenstance.
Hope this song hasn't been used yet: The lyrics can be found here: Karma
Canticle of the Sun - St. Francis of Assisi Lyrics The heavens are telling the glory of God, The heavens are telling the glory of God,
I got sort of a futuristic yet slightly angsty angle on this one, so I'm thinking a tiefling artificer.
I know, but I'd noticed that nobody had commented regarding that song, and rather had just skipped it, apparently. I figured I'd just throw that out there in case somebody else was confused. It was late anyway, and I forgot what I was posting halfway through, hence the song at the end. I've edited out the song entry, so just think of my previous post as an aside. Now, then: Canticle of the Sun — I see this as a cleric of Pelor with the Miracle Worker paragon path. He campaigns not necessarily to wipe out evil, but to spread happiness. And if the best way to spread happiness is to exterminate some monsters, who is he to judge Pelor's wisdom? Thank you. You can post your song now, you know. It's still technically your turn. Heh. Oh, right. I knew there was something I was forgetting. I have GOT to stop posting so late at night. Really F's with the memory. I'm not gonna post the lyrics, because they lose something big if not set to music: Clutch - The Ghost
The community managed to scrape up enough to pay the debt, Garaza's wife actually marrying Lord Yurkis to encourage him to lower the debt a bit (it worked). But things were not the same without Garaza to serve as the moral cornerstone of the people. Cheap liquor and drugs became common, and the people forgot about Garaza. But then, one night, Garaza returned. Pelor had brought him back as a revenant. When he saw what his home had become, he was digusted. Disgusted with his neighbors, for falling so easy to sin simply because he wasn't there. Disgusted with his wife, for marrying Yurkis. Disgusted with Yurkis for letting his home decay and for murdering him in the first place. Blinded by the rage, Garaza slew everyone in the town. He was an unstoppable force of harsh, unforgiving justice, saving Yurkis and his wife for last. As he killed them, he felt a horrid chill. The sun rose, and for the first time, its warmth did not reach him, and it's light hurt his eyes.. It was a sign of Pelor's displeasure. Instead of remaining true to the sun god, Garaza had stooped to petty revenge. Garaza then turned and saw the souls of all he had slain following him, silently mouthing accusations and questions at him. Garaza soon learned, now that Pelor had turned his back on him, how to manipulate these ghosts to aid him, becoming a shaman. He is wracked with guilt at the crime he has committed, and seeks atonement. Pelor has promised Garaza that for every life he spares, one spirit will be free to pass to the afterlife. When all have passed on, then and only then may Garaza seek forgiveness from Pelor. Garaza works tirelessly towards this goal, his new undead state meaning he never stops to rest. That was an interesting exercise! Now my turn: Consequence Free - Great Big Sea Am I the only one who hasn't given up on this?!
Verithir the Capricious is, as one might imagine, a flighty individual who refuses to remain in once place for long. Like all half-elves, he easily forms friendships with persons of all races. However, these relationships quickly become victims of his wanderlust, and he has little use for laws and regulations. He is not a malicious individual, but is also not above causing a little mischief when the opportunity presents itself. Whether or not he travels for the joy of it or because he is searching for meaning in his life remains to be seen. Deep Unknown - Stratovarius A Wizard out of touch with himself, and has decided to look to the secrets of the ocean on a quest to find himself.
OK, how about Dark Chest Of Wonders by Nightwish? Kierst is a drow assassin with quite a flair for the dramatic. Fundamentally opposed to most assassins' policies of lying low, this attention-seeking killer hires troubadours to compose tales of his grace and deadliness. His greatest dream is that, one day, all of the Underdark and the overworld will hear his songs, and fear his blade. [Edit: Here's a new song. Maybe it'll help folks with ideas] Next: Cool - The World Without Logos (Hellsing Theme) www.televisiontunes.com/Hellsing.html Half Elf Bard, MC Rogue, male. Unaligned at best. Possibly evil. I'm imagining the classic, rakish ne'er-do-well. Quick-tongued and cocky, with a perpetual swagger. An incurable ladies' man and legendary con artist. The sort of fellow who exhibits virtually no characteristics suggesting he's trustworthy, but he's so smooth you believe him anyway. If anyone has read Perdido Street Station by China Miéville, I'm basically imagining Lemuel Pigeon, but as a half-elf. Now, Coheed & Cambria - The Reaping/No World for Tomorrow I'm getting the vibe of a revenant invoker with a tiefling past life. Before, he was a heretical monster, working to further the works of Asmodeus, the Betrayer. Cursed with brief flashes of memory from his dark past but possessed of a martyr-like quality that drives him to fight for the side of good. Unfortunately, the dark nature of his past life sometimes rises to the foreground, causing him to delight in the pain he brings to his enemies. He works hard to control this bestial aspect of his nature, but it sometimes feels like a losing battle. Next: Navras by Juno Reactor: www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9qqLrdOzDg I love the piece. It's unresting and unremitting. I've had a character concept for Navras before, but since he's an almost-transcendent humanoid who can travel through space by magically obviating his need to breathe and generating a personal FTL-travel-field using semi-Psionic effects, I don't think he would easily fit into a 30th level D&D character... A Tiefling might be appropriate. She is haunted both in the waking world and in dreams by the demons of her ancestry. For her entire life, they have never been silent, driving her to the brink of insanity. She spends every conscious moment doing anything and everything she can to silence them the only way she knows how--by vanquishing them. Class could be something physical that likes to move around and hack at things--melee ranger, rogue, barbarian, possibly fighter. Not Avenger or Paladin, she has no particular link to the divine. Monk and Assassin would seem too 'calm' for her. Perhaps MC'd to Warlock, as the demonic messages seep into her mind, and she can't help but utilize the very things she wants to destroy. Next: Boney M - Rasputin www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvDMlk3kSYg

An overly cheerful halfling tactical warlord. He's always quick with a friendly word, and seems more interested in education and relaxation than in combat. Even in the thick of battle, he's spouting interesting bits of trivia as he disembowels his foes.
How about Gorillaz - Feel Good, Inc. www.youtube.com/watch?v=plvpV9p0ywg
Deva dark pact warlock. He feels heavy under the weight of the visions his patron bestows upon him, dreams that take him into the Shadowfell's lost cities and domains of dread, but buries it under a wistful, friendly manner. The rap lyrics are the words of his renegade sorrowsworn patron echoing in his head.
Now for a bit more left-field. What would you make from Brad Paisley's and Alison Krauss' "Whiskey Lullaby" ? www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJm2qV34sU4
I can saw a woman in two
But you won't want to look in the box when I do I can make love disappear For my next trick I'll need a volunteer I can pull a rabbit out of a hat I can pull it out but I can't put it back I can make love disappear For my next trick I'll need a volunteer It's lonely up here When the tricks have been played And the spotlights have faded And the plans that we made Have fallen apart It's lonely as hell And there's no magic spell For a broken heart You can put me in chains and I will escape Better not wait up 'cause I might be late I can make love disappear For my next trick I'll need a volunteer It's lonely up here When the tricks have been played And the spotlights have faded And the plans that we made Have fallen apart It's lonely as hell And there's no magic spell For a broken heart I can saw a woman in two But you won't want to look in the box when I do I can make love disappear For my next trick I'll need a volunteer
A hedge wizard who used to perform for crowds and simultaneously rob them blind, he was eventually caught by the local thieves' guild. As punishment, they killed his wife and lit his house on fire with him still inside. As he tried to escape, he found himself bombarded by the energy from the burning spellbook that he had used to trick his patrons. Now, that power manifests randomly, and he has utterly no control over what the results may be.
His class: Chaos sorcerer. Try this one on for size: "Fly Me To The Moon (Infinite Climax Mix)" www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV6E13xODyA
Uh, Abraham, either you're trolling (and why in the world would you want to troll this place?) or you just don't get how this works. Regardless, I encourage whoever has a legitimate post to comment on my previous proposed song.
Abraham never bothers to listen to the songs posted, and just makes it up based on the song's title.
Anyway, this sounds like a star pact warlock who is head over heels in love. Her passion for astronomy and the night sky has only recently been eclipsed by true love. She has an effervescent and cheery personality. Nothing can spoil her good mood, so much that it can seem kind of creepy at times, but her intentions are always good. Not sure what more I can say though... Here's a song that I've had stuck in my head for the past few weeks. For those who get it stuck in their head following looking at the song, I apologize. Owl City - Fireflies www.youtube.com/watch?v=psuRGfAaju4 Lyrics Show You would not believe your eyes If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep 'Cause they'd fill the open air And leave teardrops everywhere You'd think me rude But I would just stand and stare I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep 'Cause everything is never as it seems 'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs From ten thousand lightning bugs As they tried to teach me how to dance A foxtrot above my head A sock hop beneath my bed A disco ball is just hanging by a thread I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep 'Cause everything is never as it seems When I fall asleep Leave my door open just a crack (Please take me away from here) 'Cause I feel like such an insomniac (Please take me away from here) Why do I tire of counting sheep (Please take me away from here) When I'm far too tired to fall asleep To ten million fireflies I'm weird 'cause I hate goodbyes I got misty eyes as they said farewell But I'll know where several are If my dreams get real bizarre 'Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep 'Cause everything is never as it seems When I fall asleep I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep 'Cause everything is never as it seems When I fall asleep I'd like to make myself believe That planet earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep Because my dreams are bursting at the seams
A swarm druid living within a city, determined to introduce everyone to the beauty of nature. He does this with happy, catchy music and swarm-form displays of fireflies' beauty.
Unfortunately, that's all I got. Anyway, try this on for size: A Day To Remember - "I'm made of wax, Larry, what are you made of?" www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsptGR1g0c0
