I have what seems to be a rookie question and I should be able to calculate this myself by now, but I want to ask some experts to check my math. I need to know if my defenses are correct. Level 4 Tiefling Infernal'lock Str 8 (-1) Con 19 (+4) Dex 12 (+1) Int 17 (+3) Wis 10 (+0) Cha 15 (+2) AC : 18 = 10+2+5+1 (1/2 level, armor+ability, +1 runic armor) Fort : 17 = 10+2+4+1 (1/2 level, ability, +1 enh frostwolf pelt) Refl : 17 = 10+2+3+1+1 (1/2 level, ability, +1 enh frostwolf pelt, +1 class) Will : 16 = 10+2+2+1+1 (1/2 level, ability, +1 enh frostwolf pelt, +1 class) My equipment is a +1 Master's Wand of Dire Radiance, +1 magic wand(off-hand), +1 runic leather, +1 frostwolf pelt, and feyleaf sandals. I think that is all that affects my defenses.

Looks right to me.

Okay thanks. It just seemed my AC was a point or two too low. I guess I am used to better armed classes.

remember, though, you can eke a lot of mileage out of Concealment from Shadow Walk. Combining having to move 3 squares to get it in the first place and good positioning to make you a bad target for area attacks, it effectively amounts to a +2 to all your defenses most rounds.
INSIDE SCOOP GAMERS: In the new version of D&D, it will no longer be "Edition Wars." It will be "Edition Lair Assault." - dungeonbastard

I have a question about the level 3 battlemind at will, Lodestone Lure.
It was changed by erratta to say that "you must pull the target".
So does this mean that you can't target adjacent creatures? If I must pull the target, and in order to pull the target it needs to move to a square closer than where it started, then this at will is only good for targets two squares away...or more with augments.

Odd question:
I've gotten sort of used to making complicated charachters because it's cool to have crazy off-the-wall stuff and I am finding it hard to go back to a simple charachter. For isntance, I want to play a Kobold, but every time I start to look at a class for it all I can think about is how a Tiefling or Half-Elf will be better at it and then I go off on a tangent of hybriding and then I get annoyed with myself.
How can I get back to just making a nice simple clean fun charachter without frustrating myself?

I'm not actually trying to sound facetious, but I fear any answer that I give will sound that way, so please bear with me ...
Just chill out about it. It's not a competition, it's not a contest, you don't have to make Awesome McNukeStuff every game. Don't worry about what's best, or even what's better. Play what you WANT to play. Repeat to yourself, "It's just a game. It's just a game. It's just a game."
Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.

Just up and do it. Just say to yourself, "I'm going to make a Kobold Thief (or whatever it is you want) because that's what I want to play, and it's a viable character," and then make it and play it.

Try "Optimizing For Concept" rather than DPR... Ignore how that particular concept measures up to any other build - the "best" kobold invoker is not a twinstriking half-elf avenger. Skill Focus: Basketweaving might be the worst possible feat for a character to take in any other case, but if you're making the best basketweaver possible, it's absolutely necessary. Start by writing up the character, not the build. Pretend you're creating a character in a story, not in a game - don't make a single mechanical decision until you know every last "fluff" detail of the character. Work from fluff to crunch, not the other way around. Give them a name, a personality and a backstory. Work out a clear picture of their physical appearance and mannerisms in your mind. Don't set pencil to character sheet until you know what flavor of ice cream the character likes and which finger they pick their nose with. Then optimize towards making the most mechanically effective version of that character you can. Set non-negotiable parameters for the build. Pick the race, not because it's better than another race or because it's more optimizable, but because that's what race the character is. Don't assign a dump score unless the character realy has one. Don't pick a class for any reason other than that it best represents the narrative image of how the character operates. Don't give the character any skills that can't be justified by their backstory. Give them the weapons and gear that the character would have, and nothing else.
Take it as a challenge to come up with ways to make what might be suboptimal choices in general more effective as they specifically pertain to your narrative image of the character and how it operates as a mechanical entity.

I'm looking into remaking a ranger/monk build from 3.5 who kind of fought like Nero from DMC4. (big sword, jumps around, PAWNCH!!!) I'm thinking some combination of swordmage and monk, so my question is about Expanded Tradition hybrid talent, it says you get all the features associated with Monastic Tradition, does that mean I can use the monk's flurry with any hit? (as opposed to just monk powers)
Edit: Never mind, forum search > Google for this occasion. I found the question asked before and the answer was no. :c
