I cannot agree at all with the Kindle idea for two fundamental reasons:
1) The Kindle is, so far, only available in North America. Excluding the rest of the world as if it is of no importance seems... counterproductive.
2) This and this, despite the apology on the second one from Jeff Bezos, graphically illustrate exactly the sort of crap that set me firmly against the Character Builder and Monster Builder when they were originally announced as "on-line only applications". Thankfully, WotC saw sense on those tools, but the need to remain vigilant against the publishing industry trying to finagle a license to plunder our wallets or rescind stuff we have paid for at the drop of a hat in their panicked reaction to "pirates" is still present.
I am very keen to see a publishing industry that gets paid for what it does and can make a profit, but their collective eagerness to overstep the line and exploit the situation is nothing short of astounding, IMO.
I think Kindle should be one option for electronic distribution (for those of us that love our Kindles). I do not advocate it being the ONLY option.

Agree - but it really shouldn't be hard to create a kindle version for those of us with them.

Well its harder now since you can't even get legal pdfs anymore. I have tried to do a pdf to Kindle conversions but the automated programs to do that are only okay and I really don't have time to clean them up. A tech savy intern could probably do the job 10x better than me in a fraction of the time.

The larger kindle handles pdf's with no problem, other than a lack of zoom. (rotating it helps)

I prefer the smaller sized Kindle. It is much more portable. Also, the I would like to have the Kindle features (e.g. text resizing and text-to-speech) available for D&D products.
I understand that even the Kindle DX doesn't display the Dungeon and Dragon mags very well. How do the 4e manuals display on the DX?

I hope I'm quoting the right guy...
The manuals are fine...a bit straining without the zoom, but the pages are all contained on the screen. The magazines are not because they are rotated to start and they are an abnormal size too. This means that you are looking at a page that has blank areas above and below if looking normal, and if rotating the screen you only get the top 2/3rds of the page. you have to scroll down to get the rest of the page...very annoying. It's more easily read though as this does zoom the text. The colors for powers are a bit tough. Other companies have taken to using a symbol for At Wills, Encounters, Dailies and Utilities - which makes it easier. On a side note, I store Char Builder Char sheets on it - very easily readable.

I hope WotC go back to PDFs. I love PDFs. I go to rpgnow.com all the time and order them. I would be ordering D&D stuff, but since that isn't an option, I've been getting a lot of 3rd party stuff. On the plus side I am finding a lot of really cool products that I likely wouldn't of bought before because I had to get the new DMG 2 or what ever.
