Dexterity. A heavy thrown weapon uses the wielder’s Strength modifier when making ranged basic attacks, not for all powers.

RC 269 Heavy Thrown: A thrown weapon is a ranged weapon that is hurled from the hand, rather than used to launch a projectile. A ranged basic attack with a heavy thrown weapon uses the wielder’s Strength modifier for the attack and damage rolls, unless otherwise noted in the description of the power used.

I find the summon mechanics very confusing, still have a few questions.

1. If my character has resist 5 fire (from armor) does my summon gain that as well or does it only have my ac/ref/fort/will.
2. If I have a feat that increases the distance I slide monsters and my summon has a slide power does my feat increase the slide distance?
3. Do summons get bloodied?

thanks
Just because were not talking in person does not mean you have to be an @#$%^&*

Quick question: If you are wearing two shields (for the snapping testudo paragon path for an example), do you get the check penalty from both of them? I know you only get the shield bonus from one, but what about the penalty?

Well, RAW, you can't actually use two shields at the same time, so that PP doesn't function and your question is unanswerable.

I don't get it, why can't you use two shields? The paragon path does exist (www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/d...) and I really don't why wouldn't you be able to use them, especially if one is a spiked shield or is enchanted with one of the shield enchants presented in that article.

The PP exists. It is also so poorly written it doesn't function by RAW. It isn't the only game element with this problem (Academy Master's powers, for instance). Sometimes authors suck at the rules and write stuff that doesn't work. So when you ask "How does it work?" the answer is "It doesn't." Speculating about how it was intended to work is another question entirely, but generally the best advice anyone can give when you are contemplating a PP screwed by rules issues is "Pick a different PP."

I see you point. Well, still, I have a player who REALLY loved the idea behind this PP, so I'll just go ahead and speculate on how it could work. I'd love some help from more experienced players though. I'm just not sure if this discussion should be taken to another thread, I don't want to bloat this one with an inappropriate discussion.

Can you qoute the rules that say you can't use two shields? The closest thing I've found is that you can't benefit from having two magic items in the arms slot, but that shouldn't prevent you from carrying a shield in each hand. Of course the AC & RD bonuses don't stack since they are both shield bonuses, but again, this doesn't prevent you from having a shield in each hand.
