I'm a little unclear on two Warden's abilities. Warden's Fury, the target is "the triggering enemy" and the trigger is "An enemy marked by you makes an attack that does not include you as a target". So, that means that if I mark 3 enemies and all three don't attack me on their turns, I get to attack them with Warden's Fury? What happens if I'm not in melee range? Do I get moved automatically within range? Would this move provoke opportunity attacks?

Warden's Grasp...this is if an enemy within 5 squares makes an attack that doesn't include me. I slide them 1 square. Does that mean that their attack will not hit because they have been slid? (Assume for this question that it's a melee attack and they are now out of melee range.) Would that also work with a spellcaster? If I slid them out of their range, for example.

It's really wonderful being able to get answers here. I do check in the Compendium and try and figure stuff out before asking here first. I don't wanna' ask the DM because I don't wanna' give away all my tricks before we start. Smile

Thanks, and Happy New Year.

Warden's Fury only let you attack one creature since it use an Immediate action and that those are usable only once per round. Also it won't trigger if the triggering enemy is not within reach of your melee weapon.

Warden's Grasp is an Immediate Reaction which means the triggering attack will resolve before you can slide the enemy.

The key part of Warden's Fury is the part that tells you the action type, and the range.  Specifically, "Immediate Interrupt" and "Melee weapon"

So:  it costs you your Immediate action, and the range is "weapon".

As long as you've got an Immediate action available and the target is in reach of your weapon, you can use this power.

Notably, if you've got three enemies Marked, all three *could* trigger this power, but you only get one Immediate Action per round, so you couldn't use the power again after the first time.

Then you can't use the power, since the targets are out of range.

The power doesn't SAY you move, so you don't move.

No, to both.  See how Warden's Grasp says it's an Immediate Reaction?  The "reaction" part is important - that means that the power resolves AFTER the event that triggers it, and a reaction to any part of an attack is a reaction to the whole attack.

If the attacker was making more than one attack - for example, if he had a power that said "Make two melee attacks" and you used Warden's Grasp after the first one - Grasp would go off after the first attack, but before the second one.

Confused about Stealth?  Think "invisibility" means "take the mini off the board to make people guess?"  You need to check out The Rules Of Hidden Club.

Thank you...both of you, I appreciate the lightning fast responses! After you pointed out the key important parts, I looked it up in the Player's Handbook and found it. I really do wanna' read that book, but I'm 1/3 of the way through with Tom Clancy's newest novel, so, as soon as I finish that, I'll read the Handbook thoroughly to get a better understanding.

I could probably use Strategy tips too...maybe I'll look for a book on that. I mean, sure, I go through all of the feats and carefully go through all of the powers, but being relatively (18 months) new to this, I'm sure there are far superior builds to a Warden than I'm giving mine.

Thanks again!

If you want to learn more on Warlord and their tactics, there is a Warden Handbook made by Character Optimisation Forum members called A Rock and A Hard Place: A Warden Handbook. Its both free and helpful!

Oh my! Okay, I know what I'm going to be reading starting now. We start our adventure tomorrow and I just printed out my sheets, but screw that, I'm gonna' read and adjust as needed.

Thanks!

As I'm reading, under races, I see that Pixie is left off. Now I know Pixie seems like a very odd choice, but, ya' still get a zillion HP (we're at Level 10, so it's about 100 total), and with certain feats and stuff, a Pixie can reside in the spot of an ally and get partial cover, and can move through enemies bigger than them (about all of them) so ya' can go flank pretty easily, etc.

And it'd just be fun playing a Pixie Warden! But my DM said no, wouldn't fit into the population mix of his setting.

Overwhelming Impact
Epic Tier
Prerequisite: 21st level, fighter
Benefit: Whenever you use a hammer to hit an enemy with a melee attack, and that attack would slow the enemy, you can instead daze the enemy for the same duration.

Accuracy is so important in 4e as to many any non-primary stat boosting race a very bad choice, in general. Though in this case the handbook simply hasn't been updated.

Question about powers that do static damage. What bonuses do I add to a power that does a static damage. For example take the runepriest power Word of the Blinding Shield. Normally it has no damage associated with it but when used with Rune of Destruction option it deals Con modifer damage. The power also contains the weapon keyword so do damage from sources such as a magical weapon or weapon focus feat apply to it? Or is that only when a damage roll is included?
