Do close blasts and bursts centered on your character trigger attack of oppertunity?

Close and melee attacks do not. Only ranged and area attacks do.

Can Charm of Misplaced Wrath (wizard level 1 encounter) force a creature to target itself with a basic attack?
If no, why not, and where can I cite the source?
If yes, why so, and where can I cite the source?

Yes, you can do that. It says the target attacks a creature of your choice, and the target is a creature. There's no rule to say that you can't target yourself with an attack, so you can.

Exactly right. Since nothing says you CAN'T target yourself with 99% of Basic Attacks, you can.

So I just want to make sure I'm reading this right. The Champion's Ring (from Revenge of the Giants) gives an item bonus to AC and Reflex equal to each unique item you have equipped when you are bloodied. What constitutes a "unique item?" Is it any magic item as long as you don't have more than 1 of it? Or is it unique in that only 1 of it exists?

The former. You get the bonus for each item you have equipped not counting duplicates.

Notably, the Champion's Ring is a GROUP SET ITEM, so the Compendium entry doesn't tell the entire story and the term "unique item" refers to OTHER MEMBERS OF THE SET ON OTHER CHARACTERS. The "unique items" are the other members of the set - so the Champion's Ring itself counts for 1, and the Striker's Weapon, Controller's Implement, Defender's Armor, and Leader's Helmet each count for 1, for a maximum total +5 if there are 5 people in your party and each has one of the other Set Items.
My point is, it doesn't care about anything else YOU have equipped, and it doesn't care about anything except the other members of the set.
