Hi all,
I was wondering what would happen if a monster (M1) has PC1 grabbed with both arms and PC2 uses Hypnotism to make M1 attack the adjacent M2?
Also as a follow-up: if a M1's grabs persist even when unable to take actions, what would happen if he were dominated into attacking instead of hypnotised?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Unless the monster specifically requires "both hands" to maintain the grab or make the attack, it would let go with one hand and make the attack with that hand.
But this wouldn't end the grab, since it still has a hand free to grab. It's not even a change to the status of the grabbed guy - a grab is a grab, and a two-handed grab is exactly as easy (or as hard) to escape as a one-handed or nine-handed grab.
To both.

M1 would attack M2 and continue to have PC1 grabbed. If you instead used Hypnotism to slide M1 three squares, then it would drop PC1, unless the monster has a specific ability saying it continues to hold a PC even if moved by forced movement. (Honestly, its never been entirely clear to me if something like the Gelantaneous cube's ability to take a grabbed PC along when moving applies to forced movement on the cube or not)

Do you have an example of a monster that doesn't need an action to sustain a grab? Unless a monster entry specifies otherwise, it still has to spend a minor action to sustain a grab each turn, which it would normally be unable to do while dominated.

Discussed here and here. Anyone know if the Monster Vault altered the Gelatinous Cube's wording?

As per Monster Vault, a Gealtinous Cube being forced to move could pull engulfed creatures with it since moving include Forced Movement and Engulfed doesn't specify it must move willingly.
MV 222 Engulf: When the cube moves, it pulls with it any creature grabbed by it, and the creature remains grabbed and within the cube’s space.

Excellent! That is good news that this was fixed.

Thanks, i'll check the powers again to see how it is specifically written.

The level 9 elite Hangman Tree does this. Which is how that question came up.

So moving the cube doesn't work, but you can still shift/push/pull your ally out of it, if a power allows (ex: Thunderwave, if it hits), correct?

While a engulfed creature can't shift because its grabbed, it can still be push, pulled or slid and if the forced movement takes it more than 1 square away from the Gelatinous Cube (basically out of Engulf's range), the grab will end.

How many uses per encounter of Healing Word does a level 1 hybrid sentinel / cleric receive? I think 2, but the online Character Builder says 1. How many at level 16? I think 2, but I hope 3.
Thanks.
