Combo:

  • Cunning Weapon, Arcane Implement Proficiency, Virtuoso of Misfortune, and Cagey Killer you can stun an enemy for almost all the encounter.

  • Invisible Troupe - minor action -Bam! everyone is invisible! + Hide in Plain Sight: You can easily attack from a square and stay invisible, no matter you do. Now if you add Martial Mastery and Epic Resurgance you can do it twice an encounter (in case you need to chance positions)...this is huge.

  • Also with this build, you can build towards Very High Damage / high ac or high damage / Very High AC

EX: Two Wpn DEf + Def Adv + Lvl 30 + Hide Armor (elderhide +6) + Hide Armor Specialization + Hidden for the encounter = 1+2+43+1+5= 52 AC not to mention that your crit rate is 27.75% per turn. With Trumphet Attack you knock another 2 off the enemy who you hit attack rolls, save ends, for the encounter. (and +2 to your attack rolls too). So you could say for 25% to maybe 50% (longer with a Cunning Weapon) of the encounter you could have eccentially an AC 54!

1. Cha is your primary stat, Dex your second, Range or melee twin strike will use Charisma , b/c of Bard Feat: Combat Virtuoso (Arcane Power)
2. Hang in melee... Twin Strike + Daggermaster , nuf said.
3. You got plenty to do:
  • range attacks
  • melee attacks
  • magic powers
  • heal
  • sneak attack
  • stealth
  • intimidate
  • steal, disable traps, and unlocks doors
  • diplomacy
  • bluff
  • travel across planes
  • beat death
  • have a familiar

4. dump damage dice all over the place..... sneak attack + twin strike
5. Don't want to die? Dark Wanderers can't be killed.
6 Flavor. -Dark Wanderer has the best flavor it the game.

This is a total hero, I put this build up against a fighter as funnist build to play. By Endgame you are truely an unstoppable force. It's like being Jason in the Friday the 13th movies, you can kill him and you run away - but inevitably he gonna just gonna get back up, walk after you, scare the crap out of you when he pops out in front of you and cuts you down...

I hope this is enough...

McSmashin, this is one of the most usable characters ever. He can go anywhere and do anything. He's a thief, a face, a ninja, and he even has a bit of magic.

I can't wait to take him out for a spin.

Excellent build. Technically, optimised is probably something other than dark wanderer, and a few of the basic defensive feats.

Defensive feat list:
Robust Defenses, TWD, Epic Will/Reflex/Fort

Candidates for dropping:
Melee training, Rogue Weapon Mastery, Distant/Lasting Advantage

...but I see no need to optimise it further than what you've got, and certainly not at the expense of your concept. It's lovely.

Ranged rogues should pick up mounted combat and be riding that awesome dire wolf. Even if just for heroic / early paragon and then retrain the feat later to Distant/Lasting ... it is just that much better.

Yeah, I had this idea too. I'm considering a range of different Striker/Bard builds to play or possibly a Starpact/Sorcerer(for Sorcerous Vision). But I'm generally looking at Sage of the Ages(known reroll at 24th, even if it is difficult to get the 26th level special up high enough at the moment, is well worth it on its own - not to mention, being a Rogue who can eventually make Int skill checks is just hilarious.

Here's the original build

Not that it really matters, but don't you get another +1 to an ability score?

Thank you for the insight. The only thing about Melee Training is that Two Weapon Opening plays off of it. So, 15% of the attacks made will allow this power to come into play.

To me, the Dark Wanderer's real appeal is the idea that: yeah sure, Demigod is more powerful/damaging per encounter, but that's the difference between winning a battle and winning a war. Demigod maybe better in the short run, but over the long haul nothing can stop the inevitable victory of the Dark Wanderer, save the Undying Warrior.

The character at 30 lvl could rule/destroy the world, if it chose, or all worlds for that matter, since it can travel anywhere in any plane in 24 hrs.

thanks again,

McSmashin
