Hmm...I don't know if I want to copy something more than 1 or 2 times, or that would start to clutter things up. If it can fit any role, I think I'll leave it in the No Role area for now. Thanks for that, though. You might want to make an All Roles category. If you did, there wouldn't even be any No Role Given templates - devourer-spawn is all roles, too!

My Minor Arcanoth Flier is a minion.[/quote] Yep. I have that down; bold italics means it's a minion. I'll probably start color-coding them, as it's obviously a bit confusing as-is.

How's that?

The Monster Creation excerpt has been out for a while, and if the blogs are any indication, folks are going to start putting up some custom monsters before too long. Since I've already started the races compendium and classes compendium, I figured I'd save someone else the work and make a central thread for the custom monsters as well. spoiler
Show
Monsters are first organized by tier, and then within each tier monsters are separated by role and formatted by difficulty (minion/regular/elite/solo) for ease of reference.
Thanks to the unbelievably prolific Keithric, there are already tons (and tons and tons and tons and tons...) of monsters on this list, though there are several monsters by others as well. to Keithric; I've only included his those among his monsters with complete stat blocks, but for concepts and monster abilities you can check out his a list of his ideas here. As always, if I've missed any monsters or you create a new one, post here to let me know. Enjoy!
Monster Roles
Monsters are separated by role under each tier; those with multiple roles are listed under each role. Some monsters were not given roles by their creator, and those are listed separately in a "No Specific Role(s)" category; if you have suggestions as to what the best role would be, or if you are the creator and know what the role should be, let me know and I will move it. Monsters that can fit in any given role can also be found in that category.

I added 3 new version of Beholders to my monsters in the second Link. The new version is acid. The Elite/non-elite can also use a eye ray similar to Warlock's Eyebite called Grummet (dealing psychic damage). The minion only has acid ray.

Well, I made my first 4e creatures today: updates of the Xag-Ya and Xeg-Yi are in the Heroic Artillery section.

The 'Masterminds' you can switch to Controller - that was back before we found out what term they'd be using so I was using the MM4 term. Also, I'd suggest against using my really old ones since they're particularly spotty with respect to how things actually work: I assumed players would get +1 to everything each level instead of +.5, and also assumed combats would be less rounds so damage would be much higher. At any rate, it'll probably help your endeavor here to look at one of my index threads of actual 4E monsters, like this one, which I'm pretty good about keeping up to date. Good luck with your compendium, and to you, sir!

Tell you what--if you want to post or PM where exactly you think the line is between "too old" and "mostly accurate," I'd appreciate that.

Good luck with your compendium, and to you, sir! Thanks, for both.

A to the top to let potential homebrewers see it! I've also added a lot more of Keithric's stuff. Everyone keep those monsters coming!
