Sure, that's an explanation that makes a lot of sense in a world ruled by evolution and biology. Can you explain in the D&D world? No. But then it's not really the point. The reasons for objecting to the dragonboobs aren't whether or not we can justify them with biological explanations or not, but to do with whether or not we want dragonborn to have breasts.
Male nipples may not make a great deal of sense in a world of divine creation either, but it's such a normal part of our real world that to take it out of the D&D one would do nothing but provoke laughter or disconnection from the world we want to believe in.
So saying "men's nipples don't make sense" is (a) not related to the reasons why some of us don't want dragonboobies because our reasons are ones of preference, not biology and (b) would in any case be more of an argument for removing men's nipples than for adding in dragonboobs. But obviously we can't remove men's nipples because people are too attached to them. So it's the same argument in principle as saying "I'm bad at one thing, so might as well not try on the other thing." Specious reasoning (no offense).

this thread is wrong on so many levels its not funny.
1: how many people have seen the underside of a dragon to tell if a female wyrm had boobs ?
2: its as bas as the thing with dwarven women having beards or not.
the real reason they may have boobs is that so that they can be told apart.
fat cells
a mask everyone has at least two of, one they wear in public and another they wear in private.....

the real reason they may have boobs is that so that they can be told apart. Yeah... whatever. Go look at screenshots and artwork for the iskar in EQ2. They hardly require boobs to tell them apart. In fact, SOE did something right... they didn't give the female iksar boobs.

The answer is another question: "Why guys have nipples?" The right nipple is used to regulate body temperature while the left nipple is used mainly to pick up shortwave radio transmissions.

The art looks the same to me, the only difference is that the armor was recolored. I don't know if it's supposed to be skin or leather. But either way the "boobs" are still there.

Personally I don't understand the need to fight over what is not realistic in dnd, we have immortal elves casting fireballs at elementals...but breasts on a dragonborn can be explained.
The Platypus, officially as of May 2008, are found to have both mammal and reptile DNA, which means they can lay eggs as a reptile and suckle as a mammal. So if you need a realistic reason for mammaries on a Dragonborn, their is scientific proof for the posibility!
If you need the source, get a copy of the May 8th issue of Nature, their is a detailed explanation of the Platypus genome, including the mix of reptile and mammal DNA.

Yep, and the platypus was mentioned before in this and other threads. This is an explanation that I can get behind.
So lets all agree, Boobs are in!!!
Terms you should know... Spoiler:
Show
Kit Build - A class build that is self sustaining and has mechanical differences than the normal scale. Started in Essentials. Most are call their own terms, though the Base Class should be said in front of their own terms (Like Assassin/Executioner)
Power Points - A mechanic that was wedged into the PHB3 classes (with the exception of the Monk) from the previous editions. This time, they are used to augment At Wills to be Encounters, thus eliminating the need to choose powers past 4th level. Mage Builds - Kit builds that are schools of magic for the Wizard. A call back to the previous editions powering up of the wizard. (Wizard/Necromancer, for example) Unlike the previous kit builds, Wizards simply lose their Scribe Rituals feature and most likely still can choose powers from any build, unlike the Kit Builds.
Parcel System - A treasure distribution method that keeps adventurers poor while forcing/advising the DM to get wish lists from players. The version 2.0 rolls for treasure instead of making a list, and is incomplete because of the lack of clarity about magic item rarity.

They will Essentialize the Essentials classes, otherwise known as Essentials2.
The new sub-sub-classes will be:
* Magician. A subsubclass of Mage, the magician has two implements, wand and hat, one familiar (rabbit) and series of basic tricks. * Crook. A subsubclass of Thief, the Crook can only use a shiv, which allows him to use his only power... Shank. * Angry Vicar, a subsubclass of warpriest, the angry vicar has two attacks -- Shame and Lecture. * Hitter. A subsubclass of Slayer, the Hitter hits things. * Gatherer. A subsubclass of Hunter, it doesn't actually do anything, but pick up the stuff other players might leave behind.
Future Essentials2 classes include the Security Guard (Sentinel2), the Hexknife (Hexblade2), the Webelos (Scout2), the Gallant (Cavalier2) and the Goofus (Knight2).
These will all be detailed in the box set called Heroes of the Futile Marketing.
(Though what they should really release tomorrow is the Essentialized version of the Witchalok!)
