Sneak Attack Once per round, when you have combat advantage against an enemy and are using a light blade, a crossbow, or a sling, your attacks against that enemy deal extra damage This just makes me cry. I hate 4E.

Is it me, or does this preview give you the impression that they have gone a considerable distance in simplifying the system while at the same time making the actual tactics of combat more complicated. Powers seem more like chess moves than nuclear bombs, and winning at chess is more complicated than dropping a bomb on the enemy. Yes, and I like it. Another product of WotC, Magic the Gathering, is quite similar in that regard. The rules are simple, but there is great strategic depth. And, as I said, I like that a lot.

This just makes me cry. I hate 4E. What, no more sneak attacking with Meteor Swarm? :D I am sure there are feats that expand your Sneak Attack application!

I am sure there are feats that expand your Sneak Attack application! I don't really care if there are feats that do such. I find the limitation absolutely pointless. And the predicted feats to remove such limitations also pointless. Truely a waste of time and space.
Excuse me as I go slip into a deep depression. :raincloud

A sudden thought:
Perhaps the really basic weapons like club and spear are automatic proficiencies for everyone?

It has shuriken, a oriental weapon that shouldn't be on the base list at all. Just because it's "oriental" or because it seems too specialized? Because IIRC, the term "shuriken" can apply to any small throwing dart, not just throwing stars.
But what is Insight? And no mention of knowledge skills at all bothers me. My guess is that Insight acts both like Sense Motive and as a Perception check for things that have nothing to do with vision or hearing. Like a "something's just not right here" kind of thing.
As for knowledge skills, I believe they've been bundled into other skills. For instance, Knowledge (local) is probably part of Streetwise, along with Gather Information. Knowledge (dungeoneering) is obviously bundled into Dungeoneering along with I don't know what else. Knowledge (arcana) has been logically bundled into Arcana along with Spellcraft, etc.

Dunno whether it works this way in 4e yet, but DDM 2.0 has a separate stat apart from Defenses called Saving Throw. That one number is the bonus you add to a d20 roll on your turn whenever an ongoing effect is affecting you. On a result of 1-10, you're still affected. On a result of 11-19, you lose the ongoing affliction. On a result of 20, you lose all current ongoing afflictions. So for creatures and characters with a saving throw bonus (such as the Pit Fiend), what happens if they get over a 20 (such as a result of 21 or 22 in the case of the Pit Fiend)?

I like that the per-day ability has a 'miss' option. This avoids the common problem of finally rolling out your most special ability only to have the opponent save. In this version, the opponent can still lessen the effect, but you don't feel that you completely wasted your once-per-adventure ability.
Also interesting to note that a bunch of abilities, especially the weaker ones, get a big "power up" when you reach Epic. While they've said that 19 to 21 won't be like two different games, it does look as if crossing from 20 to 21 will be a big deal in terms of raw numbers.

So for creatures such as the Pit Fiend, what happens if they get a result of 21 or 22? Probably the same as a 20, they just get three numbers on the spectrum where they remove all afflictions instead of just one like everybody else.
Now that I think of it, if Paladins are still getting anything like Divine Grace, it will probably apply to these types of saving throws in a manner like the Pit Fiend's bonus, not the Paladin's actual defenses.
