This is a note for any and all representatives of Wizards of the Coast active in the forums. Long story short: I created a 4th Edition starting character generator in my spare time a few weeks ago for my own personal use. I would like to offer this program to Wizards of the Coast for free. The program is an Adobe Flash/ActionScript 2.0-based SWF file, the same technology used by the D&Di Bonus Tools. I call it a "starting" character generator because the program simplifies the process of creating 1st-level characters (and only first level). Despite this limitation, I've found the program extremely useful, and I believe it would be helpful to other individuals starting to play Fourth Edition. As I said, I am willing to allow Wizards to post my work online for free. I have no expectation for compensation or reward; I just think the program could be useful to other gamers. I would only ask for the following two conditions in such an arrangement: [LIST=1] That since I am giving you the program for free, that you similarly agree to provide the program to your customers as a free online service, and do not charge a subscription fee for access to this specific program or the page that it is on; I would also ask to be credited for my work with the program. In particular, I'd prefer it if the line at the bottom of the program's frame - "created by Jon Stout, www.tinwatchman.com" - remains intact, visible and not obscured in any way to the user or visitor.
These are my only conditions. You can keep the program up as long (or as little) as you like; for instance, you could drop the program once the D&Di Character Generator officially goes online.
That's it. If you are a representative or employee of Wizards of the Coast and would like additional details about the program - or to try the program out, for free, with no preconditions or requirements - please feel free to email me at jon@tinwatchman.com, or to reply to this thread.
Thank you very much for your time.

I would PM Scott Rouse with the offer. He is the person most likely to be able to help you with it.

I hate to break it to you, but I'd say it's very unlikely to happen. I also contacted Mr. Rouse about an electronic tool (the DM's Toolkit) and apart from the process taking several months, he also said there was quite a bit of internal resistance. You might get somewhere, but don't keep your hopes up.

I haven't heard from him in about two weeks, so I'm guessing he's swamped. I figured I'd try this as a way of getting in touch with other representatives of Wizards.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to take a look at the link in your signature. Out of curiosity, though, what kind of program is the Toolkit? Web or desktop app?

It seems there are many savvy computer users/programmers out there who know how to get things done. I like some of the DDi ideas, but with 2.5 years you think it would be done.
Anyway we'd love to see your goodies guys.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to take a look at the link in your signature. Out of curiosity, though, what kind of program is the Toolkit? Web or desktop app? Desktop app. I could just as easily make it a web app with a few changes (applet, actually), but people have said they want to access it without needing internet access.
