It is now 4:30PM (EST) on June 11th, and the 4E GSL & SRDs are still not posted.
I guess not everyone has the same definition of "early next week". Most people would think "early" would refer to "before Wednesday". With Wednesday being "the middle of" the week.
We have now moved into "late" in the week.
UNLESS...Saturday is not the last day of the week for WotC, and they mean the GSL & SRDs will be posted on June 16th or 17th.

Does anyone know what the hold up is? Haven't they been in the hands of publishers for awhile now? I wouldn't think it was that hard to simply up load a handful of files to a website, so there must be somthing I'm missing. ETA: After I posted this I went to the user control panel and laughed when I saw this: Start of the Week Different parts of the world traditionally use a different day as the start of the week. Select the appropriate day for your region here, in order to have the calendar appear correctly. Start of the Week: Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday (my bold) is the default. (-:

No, no publishers AFAIK have a copy of the GSL &/or the new SRD.

Ah, so the "pay $5k to get the goods early" deal never came to fruition eh? Sorry, I've been out of the loop a few months.
So I guess this means they haven't actually finished writing the GSL/SRD, or at the very least that the legal teams haven't finished going over it with their fine tooth comb yet.

I'm going to try and ask this in a non-offensive manner, if it does offend you, I apologize.
Why does this matter to you*?
The only reason I can see it mattering to a high degree is that you could be a game designer who had planned on publishing 4e material. Thus, the as-yet-released GSL may be impacting your projected income.
But if that were the case, why go through the message boards? Wouldn't you be better off contacting Customer Service or some other business related contact?
I'm really having trouble understanding why this is such an issue with some people.
*General, non-specific, plural you.

1) Fans of Necromancer Games (or other 3PPs) are waiting on Necromancer Games (or other 3PPs) getting the GSL to produce their 4e products. 2) If you're a game designer, you don't necessarily have any contacts in Wizards, because you didn't need any under the OGL. So why would they tell you anything they wouldn't tell the general public through other channels? 3) Somebody who is in a position to get the attention of Wizards, had, well, this and this. to say Delivering the GSL by the last deadline would have relieved those concerns.

Why does this matter to you*? As you asked into the crowd... take a look at my sig, specifically the DM Toolkit. I and Eldritch_Lord can't release it until we've seen the GSL and decided what to do - which is what we were bumped by some friendly WotC employee to do so*.
Just as note: This isn't a commercial product or anything, just fanmade for fans with no hidden trapdoors... it still irks me to get it out ASAP.
*Note: No sarcasm or hostility there, I mean it. It eventually helped us evade some major problems
If you have questions about 4th Edition - don't hesitate to ask me via PMs. Join the Community Monster Manual Group and help to collect a mass of monsters which will make your life as DM easier, and your life as Player pure hell! I am a cartographer. You can find some of my maps in my profile, free for non-commercial use. Also, if you happen to like maps or make them yourselves, join into the Cartographers Group!

@See - But, again, my point is that this is a fan-based discussion board. It is not a contact point for actual Wizards employees. Yes, some of them occasionally post on here and most have blogs, but if you really want to talk to them and get worthwhile information, email them, call them, get Customer Service on the case. Chucking your message in a bottle and throwing it in the ocean of the internet isn't really a constructive choice, in my opinion.
@Leichenreiter - I sympathize it can be irksome for some, but I really don't get how the mentality of "Is it ready now? How about now? How about...now?" is helpful or healthy in any way. I'm not saying you, specifically, are acting that way, but it is a general trend I've seen.
I guess my question is, if it is so important to some people, why complain about it here when there are more constructive avenues of approach?

I guess my question is, if it is so important to some people, why complain about it here when there are more constructive avenues of approach? I think the issue is that WotC has been constantly missing deadlines and people want to know why; it seems that the best way to get that out to the most folks who want to know is to post that info here. While you might not get an answer quickest by asking here, if they answer then everyone can see the answer and the info gets out faster.

I'm going to try and ask this in a non-offensive manner, if it does offend you, I apologize.
Why does this matter to you*?
*General, non-specific, plural you. I can't speak for everyone, but i can say why the GSL matters to me. The majority of WotCs supplements, well, they suck. The rules are vague and ambigouse, the material is often poorly balanced, and the books are full of Typos. In short they are an inferoir product. I've already noticed a few typos in the 4e pHb and a bunch of things are awkwardly worded.
While 3pp material isn't always perfect, it is often better then what WotC produces. And right now more talent appears to be employed by the variouse 3pps then is being employed at WotC. (Also more experienced designers.)
So why do i bother with WotC then you might ask. Well i like D&D, fualts and all. I also really like 4e, i like how most of the rules sets works, and it has a bunch of neat things with it. Unforchunately it is also incomplete as writen.
Which means I will need to supplement it if i want the types of games I enjoy. This isn't that big a deal for me. i get supplemental material when it is aviable and has what I want/need in it, and I house rule/homebrew the rest. However i perfer to get my supplemental material from 3pps, as their product is often superoir to WotCs. I'm kinda stuck being the core from WotC, but i can go elsewere for everything else, and I intend to. However with no GSL there is no 4e 3pp material...Which means I'm left with homebrewing everything, or buying WotC supplements. Not a good set of optionss as it boils down to buy crap, or put in way more effort then i'm prepared to just to play 4e. And I really want to play 4e, so you can see why I'm very interetsed in the GSL even though i am not a game designer of 3pp.
Why post my concerns on the boards? There is some evedence to date that would indacate that WotC is true to its word when it says it reads these boards and takes then somewhat seriousely. You can see this with some of the changes made in 4e. However all evedence to date would indacate that contacting WotC through emial or going through the back hole that is WotC customer service is wasted effort.
