Well, it's a legal document, so they need to get it right, even if that means planning ahead. I guess they must be trying to save themselves work down the line, as editorial stuff is a real pain.

But it does sound a little like scope creep...

In any event, thanks for giving us the update on status.

I hope, oh god do I hope this frickin thing goes up today. The license is done but late yesterday we added a bunch of new stuff to the SRD to cover some books coming out next year (like PH2 classes, power sources, and weapons).

I am still at home but when I get in this morning I'll get an update from LurkingLidda (Linae) on ripping it to PDFs and posting it today.

Thank you Scott, not only for your dedication, but in letting LOKI see that you guys are listening on the boards, and our complaints have a purpose here.

Peace out

You know, given how this thing has gotten delayed in the past, if, as of this morning, Scott wasn't absolutely sure he was going to get it up by the end of the day, I'm guessing there's not much of a chance for it. (heck, based on past history it might be weeks! :) )

I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Not that I should care not being a publisher . . . but I can't help myself!

Seriously, if the delay is a result of adding stuff that comes out next year it's more than a little ridiculous.

"We're delaying the release because of stuff that won't be relevant for a year and will be easy to add at any time"

Doesn't that sound just a tad silly?

So do you want Psionics now or 12 months from now?

Does not seem silly from here.

Now!

I'll happily wait if it has to be... a few days more or less won't kill me.

If you have questions about 4th Edition - don't hesitate to ask me via PMs.

I am a cartographer. You can find some of my maps in my profile, free for non-commercial use. Also, if you happen to like maps or make them yourselves, join into the Cartographers Group!

If you like or are interested in Go, join the group!

Best weapon in 4E? A burning table and a dwarf jumping from the roof. Boy, combat with creative folks turns out to be just awesome. Add to that lightning rails and an artificer.

By the way, my last post wasn't meant as a critique of you. I realize that delays happen for lots of reasons outside your control. And sometimes it's better to take heat with a delay than to do something fast but poorly.

Just controlling my expectations. Truth be told, my interest is there because I want to see 4E stuff from 3PP's like Necromancer. Also,it's hard to see Clark the cheerleader getting so frustrated after his months of being so upbeat.

Wait a second, Scott. Are you telling me that once you put this up, you're not going to be updating it for a year (or however long it may actually be)? I wholeheartedly believe that the base here would rather have something now and updates days, weeks, even a few months down the road. But, to tell me--well, listen, we have what we were supposed to have ready ready already, but we want to add this extra stuff. So, if we don't delay it, we won't be adding it for a prolonged period of time, even though it may be ready long before then. It almost seems a bit mean spirited. I write technical documents and similar things all the time--and, when there are added features, I may have a day or two (maybe only hours) to update my current PDFs, send them to a distro list, and ftp them to wherever they need to go.

The argument that something is several days beyond the projected release date and will continue to be late, because we want to add more to it is one thing. I justs imply don't understand the concept that, if you want more added, we'll do it now or much, much later, rather than the idea that we can post what we have now, and in a few days or weeks, we'll get you the new info. Knowing you're adding things that aren't even out yet in published format is awesome to me and makes me happier to wait. I just don't understand the thinking here.

I could wait, but I'm not a fan of psionics.
However, take as long as you need to get it right.

Is it ready yet?
