Seems like a simple +1 to attack rolls with x Weapon/Implement. They should have placed this feat in PHB 1 I think they thought they wouldn't have such a feat, but here a year later they realize it wont be as powerful as they thought...

Also, if you'll notice, the Barbarian, Avenger, Invoker, and Sorcerer all have Weapon or Implement Expertise. If the pregenerated characters almost all have the same feat, it's probably too good. WOTC wrote the rules, and even they seem to think it's an automatic pick. This is what really concerned me, the fact that almost all the pregens fell upon these feats. I don't think there are any limitations on them, as they would have been mentioned on the pregen sheets.
The worst part of all this is that this boosts everyone up, with a few exceptions (some multiclass combinations that are already perceived as weak). I'm not sure even that happened in 3e.
4e D&D is not a "Tabletop MMO." It is not Massively Multiplayer, and is usually not played Online. Come up with better descriptions of your complaints, cuz this one means jack ****.

Yeah, I'm kind of feeling like they should have just said, "all characters lose their level 1 feat, and gain +1 attack."
I don't think this feat unbalances the game, or ruins the advantage of certain fighter builds (you can just stack the feat, of course) it just... its kind of a no brainer for almost everyone. The only thing it ruins is Hellfire Blood in certain warlock builds.

agreed...but the thing people forget is not all power creep is bad...sometimes it just is.... Also agreed, In fact I doubt if this is Power creep at all. Power boost yes. Optional power boost yeah. Id rather have toughness.

One possible limitation... Would be capping it so that only characters with sub-optimal (or better sub-EXCELLENT) stats may take the +1. This way they encourage people not to start with a 20, and at the same time leave those people with a more open and flavorful range of options for feats.
Problem is... I think there would be no easy way to cap the bonus. At all. It would need a custom table and it would look too strange then. So nothing, it could maybe become a house-rule. Personally I'm not into house-rules, but I see most people love to have one or two.

My rogue player, upon hearing about this, said "interesting... but my to-hit is plenty high enough already". I think that there will be people who don't want to take this because they simply don't need it more than some of the other options available (like weapon focus at the higher tiers).
Of course, as far as we know, it scales with tier and has no penalties. And comes with a free puppy. Carrying a box of cupcakes.

2 things.
1) I agree with the stated design goal that "if everyone wants a feat, it's too good", and like many others here I'm worried these feats break it.
2) It increases the gap between single-minded builds (the fighter who uses his axe for everything) and versatile ones (the cleric who both smashes stuff with his mace and smites them with his holy symbol), because the later will have to take 2 feats to get the same effect as the former gets from 1. In other words, it encourages mini-maxing.
