I agree. I already pointed out that bad DMs will often just say "6 weeks passes." without considering how completely absurd it is for that to happen in virtually ANY circumstance. There are a few oddball circumstances where this could occur, but mostly it will just be tossing good gameplay out this window.
As you wrote it there, yes it does You didn't say that "simply extending rest time, while at the same time putting the entire rest of the game on hold, in now way messes around with RAW.", so encounters can and probably will still happen while they are resting. The RAW don't stop the rest of the game from happening while rest occurs, so even during those 6 hours, an encounter can happen.
Lol, I never ever said to put the rest of the game on hold. You spend half of your posts arguing over something we agree on.
Anyway

Right there^ The exact part of the post you quoted, and responded to with "Yes you are". In that post I was referring to Healing Surges, and how they function throughout the day, and the 6 day thing was only a suggestion to the OP who seemed to want longer rests for the adventurers.
Also I was being a little unclear. Although I'm familiar with it I'm not one to use the terms "crunch" or "fluff". I usually refer to them as "mechanics" and "environment". So if I say "mechanics" I'm probably talking about the RAW.
To the OP: You know what? Its your game, you can run it however you want. I can't believe people are getting on your case for wanting to tweak something that you don't like, whether you've got a year of using the system under your belt or not.
Do me a favor: understand you might like the system as written, that your initial modification may need to be tweaked once you have more data, and then come back in 6 months and let us know how it went.
I don't believe I want to eat human excrement, even if I have never tasted it before. Does that make me a bad person - knowing before I've tried something that it's not something I'd like? Sheesh.

Well, I can't speak for everyone here, but I'm just trying to help the guy achieve what he wants without the possible disasters that could accompany such a drastic change.
Also, I think humans have a natural tendency to not consume anything that comes from their body. Be it excrement, sweat, or hair.
Am I the only person who's actually going to play with the RAW before starting to mess with them? You know, maybe it's just me, but I trust full rules with years of playtesting behind them (plus a few months of my own direct experiences with those rules) more than my own theoretical judgements from incomplete leaked information...
where are these years of imaginary playtesting? The books are about to be released and thier still making changes, (palidans mark, i'm looking at you) and then the changes are just to something else that sucks (still you pally).
People change the rules because they dont neccesarily enjoy the same game as the designers do, and theres nothing wrong with that.
If he just wanted to make a house rule and get back to his game and peace he wouldn't have posted it on a public forum.
Posting here implies you want to discuss something, or you are trying to convince others of something, which will also lead to discussion as they have every right to make counter arguments.
My computer dies over the weekend and whole hell breaks lose here :D
I must say this topic has become a big mess and it is OFF TOPIC most of the time. Most of the time I cannot say if someone if replying to me or to some other poster. Also I see lots of people missed my post on page 2 where I asked for people to not comment if this house rule is needed or not and similar posts because we spend one and a half page on that already and nothing new can come out anymore.
I just wanted people to look at my house rule and help me decide on the exact numbers to get what I wanted: 2 tough encounters per day (+ more weak/easy ones).
I did not come to propose a change to the rules of 4E or discuss if most people would rest after each encounter and how I would slow the game for my players. Believe it or not but I know better what my players like or do not like, and how they play. They are not this "most of players" or whatever, they are "they".
Also I do not want a more realistic HP system, please stop proposing to me to use the wounds system, I have already responded with my experiences with such a system (both in D&D and old d20 SW).
And if anyone wants to discuss if the current 4e HP system is perfect or not, please open a thread for that.
Tnx.
Thanks to EdPovi for staying ON TOPIC and giving useful advice. I like your 2nd option, I just might implement that one. And if I use that, I can then maybe not change the cleric healing to work without HS. Hmm...

I would think they would say they spent quite a bit of time playtesting the system.
